How do we define "dual use"? Hell oil itself is dual use since you need it to fuel and lubricate military equipment.

I think anyway we want to define it. They tried to run the blockade.

Carbon fiber, high end electrical components, base units or materials to construct explosives with ex: chemical precursors etc.

Who knows tbh. I'm not there, I just sift through the available data sometimes to see if I might be able to get an idea of what the truth is...but honestly everything being put out there is designed to frame an issue, or imply something. It's hard to get quality information.

I would guess, but don't specifically know, that dual use materials are defined in the existing sanctions against Iran.

They can also be defined by treaty. For example, the Chemical Weapons Convention specifically defines and categorizes dual use chemicals that are precursors for chemical weapons production.

Probably chips or similar electronic components if I had to guess.

So, apparently we seized a container ship that tried to break the blockade:

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/apr/20/first-thing-us-military-seizes-iran-ship-strait-of-hormuz-blockade

I like that we didn't back down, and won't allow Iranian vessels through with only a hint of potential peace negotiations. Sorry Iran, this POTUS isn't a pushover that can be controlled by the media.

If this turns into a good ole' fashion siege, where we just cut off all of Iran's money and way to make money, I predict it won't be more than a month before Iran's government starves to death.

Iran is going to have to start capping wells if they can't ship it. They have no leverage.

Send the ship and cargo to the bottom of the ocean?

I think that's a perfectly viable option.

That's the ultimate conclusion of war if the losing party isn't rational

Bingo. They ignored orders to heave too for 6 hours and continued straight and true. If you're carrying non-blockaided civilian cargo, heave too for boarding and inspection, then be on your way.

but to idiot leftists, it is America that lost and the USA that is lying.

Don't think anyone denies we BTHO Iran kinetically, but that's not the full story and it didn't end the war. They clearly have some leverage (economically) or else we wouldn't be frantically trying to reach an agreement with them to get the straight back open.

"frantically"

I think that is way overstating it. In fact, I'm not convinced we are really negotiating anything at all. We are basically demanding they surrender. There is nothing frantic about it. I have said all along that I believe this 'ceasefire' is nothing more than an opportunity to gather intelligence, reload, and give our forces a rest before resuming the attacks.

I hope they try the "fighter jet escort" again. Would be good to let the boys get a jet kill while it's actually flying.

Shocking I say, shocking that the CCP would want to make a buck or two off of this conflict.

Notice the things he isn't claiming anymore: No mention of uranium transfer to the US. No "zero enrichment." No "no money exchanged."

So given we disabled it by taking out the engines, and now have boarded it, how do we get something that size to the port of our choice?

Communications and Computer equipment is but one example. And here's some more categories from AI:

  • Drones/UAVs: Commercial agricultural or cinematography drones can be adapted for reconnaissance or surveillance
    .
  • Artificial Intelligence & Software: Machine learning algorithms designed for commercial data analysis can be used in battlefield intelligence, while AI-powered robotics can be utilized as autonomous systems.
  • Biometrics: Facial recognition and fingerprinting used for smartphone security are also employed in border control and military identification.
  • Aerospace & Materials: Aircraft engines, advanced materials, and high-performance computing devices often serve both civilian aviation and military hardware needs.
  • Cybersecurity & Encryption: Tools for protecting personal data or video games can be utilized to secure critical military communications.

It just so happens the one boat that we disabled through the blockade happens to be carrying Chinese weapon support for Iran! I'm sure that was all about sending a message to China

You're welcome. And dual use materials that can serve as defense articles, services, and technical data are within the US controlled by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) - a stringent U.S. regulatory regime controlling the manufacture, sale, and distribution of defense-related articles, services, and technical data listed on the United States Munitions List (USML). Administered by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), it mandates registration, licensing, and strict access controls for foreign persons to protect national security.

The messaging from Iran on this negotiation is absolute schizophrenic. I understand why, but goodness. Sounds like they are going but wants the world to know it's a wink wink.

It also could be the reason it was the one boat not complying with the blockade orders.

As to leadership and government, it looks like that isn't AN "Iran" anymore. There's at least two. We've quit mentioning regime change, but a process like this is what it would look like.

Send the A-10s. Make the iranians tremble with fear at the sound of the GAU-8/A avenger aka BRRRRRRRRRRRRT

Might be hard to see parked, but the wake shouldn't be too hard to spot.

They probably have the same radar signature as a similar-size fishing boat ... which are easy to see with retail marine radars.
