"native kids don't stand a chance to compete academically".

This is a problem we could solve if we cared enough. We don't value education today. And the data / outcomes show.

No reason our kids can't compete on a higher level. Other than apathy.

Every time I drive on 121 from McKinney to Plano/Frisco or 380 from McKinney to Prosper, there are multiple new Indian food restaurants all along the route. And I make that drive 4-5 times a week.

There are high end neighborhoods in prosper that are nearly 100% Indian. I don't know if there's any validity to it, but heard in parts of India that they have billboards advertising for moves to various high end suburbs of Dallas and Houston. I do think they are being recruited here en masse.

The thread refreshed me on ol esmeralda taking her hot takes out in the 60 vines parking lot

"Go back to India...no one wants you here...."

Was she wrong for saying it? Wrong for turning it physical?

I watched one guy argue for five minutes on why he should be allowed to use an expired coupon on his haircut... they will negotiate to a fault and then still try to screw you.

I know someone who worked at a Mercedes dealership who refused to try to sell to Indian people after being burned by them at the finished line. It seems to be a cultural tactic to act like they are your best friend, whittle you out of most of your commission, while taking up an extraordinary amount of time, only to reneg on the deal at the final moment, screwing you out of just about all of your commission.

Sounds like it was mostly the over-50 crowd that was the worst. One of the Indian men realized what he had done and must have had some shred of a concsience to feel bad and gave a $100 tip, which still didn't make up for the time spent with him or the hassle, or pretty much the complete elimination of commission.

Seems like a sketchy ass culture, outside of the Christian Indians who tend to assimilate much much better, and embrace the good traditions of their homeland, while making efforts to "blend in" here.

The Merc dealership can be sued for "discrimination". And it seems like there is a case.

Car dealerships are as slimy as CEOs. I don't feel bad when someone gets them at their own game. They are known for cheating people all the time.

So sorry, I don't feel bad for them.

In 2025, I bought an Audi SUV for my wife. The dealership guy tries to screw me too but he didn't know who he was dealing with. I gave him my price (which was lower but in the "reasonable" area). He laughed, taunted and acted like I was clueless. I said "call me when you are ready" and stayed silent. Eventually I got a great deal from another dealership 20 miles away, for a car with better options and packages for a price about 5k lower. The earlier dealership guy who was taunting me had to reduce it about 6k before he finally sold it (to someone else). heh.

So bottomline is car dealerships have their slimy tricks and they got outslimed by Indian H1Bs. Don't feel bad for them.

This person wasn't slimey, he was dealing with liars who backed out on the deal at the last minute over a few hundred dollars, totally screwing him. High maintenance millionaires...screwing a working class guy over a few hundred bucks. You know how a certain demogrqaphic has an unsavory reputation in the restaurant industry for requiring a disproportionate amount of attention, while barely tipping, if at all? That's Indians at car dealerships. It's well known. They are brutal (in general). The younger ones seem to operate like normal Americans.

What you did is standard negotiation. Lying and not giving a damn about the person's time you wasted or the fact that they basically made ZERO money off the long drawn out deal, is immoral and sketchy behavior. Probably just SOP in Mumbai or New Delhi or wherever, but not here.

My friend. What "deal" are you talking about? Was anything signed? Or were they still in negotiations? If something was signed, then the dealership should take the Indian fellow to court and sue his pants off. I will be with the dealership on this. From your story, they were still discussing and the sticking point was a few 100s. If that was not important, the dealership could just say sure and let them have the few 100s and get the sale.

Companies do this all the time, promise and then renege. They give out job offers and rescind.. ah yes, "for business reasons" of course. Is that okay?

The Audi guy tried to screw me too. I agreed to the sticker price with the 2nd dealership because it was a great deal. No nego. But then when he gave me a bill, he added $1500 to it. I said wtf is this?? He said underbody coating or whatever. I said take this sheet off and give me the price on the car. He did it sheepishly. Then financing. I paid all in cash, no financing. Finance guy got hung up on that. He pulled out a paper with 3 "options". All which could cost a few 1000s. I said forget about it don't waste my time, just give me the car for the price on the window. They wasted an hour trying to laugh and taunt me, he asks "so you are saying you don't want a good deal? You don't care about money??". I wanted to tell the dumbass to cut the crap and get to work but decided to be polite instead.

Blame Indians sure, but not for such dumb reasons.

This is not true when you control for demographics. The problem is that white kids, particularly white males, have largely been locked out of many institutions.

Again, when you control for demographics, white kids are still in the top of academic performance globally. The reason that doesn't matter is because they have been locked out of many higher learning institutions and a large part of the job market. The national test scores look bad because of the demographic make up of the country and everyone being thrown in to the same pot. East Asians are on top followed by white kids followed by everyone else when you break it down demographically. We don't have an education problem on this country, we have a demographic problem.

It's pretty simple.

  • Pre-2010 Indians - They were high caliber (I don't call anyone "geniuses"), got US grad degrees, and were humble, stayed out of trouble and tried to assimilate as much as they could
  • Post-2010 Indians - Low caliber, got a US degree from a diploma mill or bodyshopped here, arrogant, chip on the shoulder, believe that Americans are dumb and stupid and American IT would collapse without Indians, arrogant and insufferable
We need the pre-2010 Indians. We need to kick out the Post 2010 Indians.

Tapestry subdivision... an India-based homebuilder builds these homes (on Independence between Main St. and Rolator)

These homes start at nearly $2 million!

I drove through that subdivision a couple years ago. Not many houses then, maybe way more now.

Weird looking homes with curved roofs that I think have grass or other live vegetation covering.

We did it. The H1Bs did not fly in on their own, so don't blame them. They are all legal immigrants. We framed foolish dumb laws riddled with holes so everyone, both Indians and Americans took advantage. Not just Indians made bank, it was Americans also.

Two additional points:

1) Rank and file Americans have been told for decades that "diversity is our strength," "America is a nation of immigrants." "Don't be racist," etc., etc. When I would complain about our neighborhood changing years ago, people looked at me like I was crazy. They were afraid to notice.

The most common response I would get was something like, "Well, I work with a Chinese guy and he's nice." Or, "Man, I love Indian food. We're so fortunate to have diversity!"

Our neighborhood magazines/newspapers would do profiles on people and EVERY SINGLE ONE of the white folks interviewed would say the reason they loved living here was DIVERSITY. Every time. Like NPCs in a video game. Now there are no more white people to profile.

People were brainwashed into shutting up and not thinking about the long-term impacts of mass immigration and what it might mean for their children and grandchildren. We still see the affects of this today with the idiots who protest ICE.

2) The tremendous increase in Indian and Muslim immigration happened so quickly even people who notice these things were caught off guard. It's why there has been such a backlash -- entire neighborhoods and suburban communities transformed literally overnight.

We will never know the true numbers but it's clearly in the many, many millions -- all brought in over the past 10 years.

The change in our country happened very slowly, and then all at once. We never had a chance.

Thanks for the analysis. All good points.

I think the major flaw in the American mindset is we think we are "capitalists" which means we measure everything with money. Nothing wrong in that but the detail we miss out on is short term vs long term. We are all about making a short term buck and scooting off. That is why we sell out our IP, our manufacturing, our country in order to make a buck. The other danger is we think that EVERYONE thinks in the same way or should think this way. Older cultures like China and India do not, they have long term visions. They are willing to trade a short term buck for a long term jackpot. That is how China grabbed our manufacturing and India snatched our IT work.

Our top companies are all about making a quick buck while the going is good. Maybe Steve Jobs was the last of the great CEOs who did not care about the stock market, he cared about making great products. Same with Bill Gates. Satya Nadella does everything with an eye on the stock market (according to insider info).

Diversity is good but only if the majority group doesn't get woke about it. And have the balls to tell people that the boat has sailed and to go back. It is nice to have people from other countries in small numbers. Not invasions like you see now with Indians. Even the Chinese are not in the invading mode now you don't see as many (maybe you do in the Bay Area).

This hits the root cause pretty concisely - short term patches with no long term outlook. This applies to (publicly traded) corps as well as the h1b approach. I would feel differently if our government was incentivizing companies and universities to address the "talent shortage" (IMO only true in specific areas), but they seem to have settled on "just import more bodies."

No they aren't.

Christians speak often about the impact of Islam but little talk is given to Hinduism. The spread of idolatry and worse will explode in this nation if they are allowed to immigrate here in mass. Hindus heavily persecute Christians in India, don't think it won't happen here.

Diwali lights aren't bad. The Apostle Thomas (supposedly) went to India, and there is a real argument the Eastern branch of the faith is what allowed it to survive, at least before Constantine's 'conversion' (another controversial point, not worth debating here).

Indian culture is a box of traditions which like others has a lot of good/bad points, but I'd think/hope we can all appreciate it's a good thing they didn't wind up becoming something akin to Mao's CCP along their historical arc. And it's a multi-cultural nation, just as much as many culturally Anglo/hispanic Texans have little real cultural similarities at this point with the communist rioters in Minneapolis, outside of perhaps language itself.
