No, on average, it loses ~$100M per year. And did before Trump had anything to do with anything. And OBVIOUSLY these deferred maintenance issues are older than 2 years old. But common sense is lost.
Just another "Look what Trump broke" from our media.
The center puts out annual reports. They show a consist revenue line of around $250 Million in revenue and $45 million Federal Appropriations to maintain the place. Everything else was funneled out to maintain its non-profit status.
This was until recently where revenue has plunged through the floor because artists have cancelled en masse and almost every donor has stopped giving due to the political football nature of the place.
The $100 Million deficit is not on average but a the latest forecast due to all the changes to the place.
Call it what it is.
They don't want to donate because Trump. It's that simple. The donors are largely far left wing Democrats. They don't want ANY money going to ANYTHING that Trump could be involved in. If the entire center collapsed tomorrow, they wouldn't care, because Trump lost.
Trump was going to go out and fundraise from people that didn't have TDS.
If Trump truly cared about the national performing arts center, he wouldn't insist on a name change.
Perhaps.
But, if all those donors truly cared about the national performing arts center, THEY wouldn't insist there ISN'T a name change.
They care more that Trump loses than if the national performing arts center gets improved.
Notice that Trump was DOING IT and then the TDS donors FOUGHT IT. They could have supported the renovation and sucked it up that Trump's name might be somewhere on it. But, that was a hill they were willing to die on.
Think about it this way. Let's say in a few years the Lincoln Memorial is in such disrepair it needs an incredibly expensive repair job. And because your worst nightmare came true, President Talarico raises the money to fix it with the caveat it is renamed the James Talarico Lincoln Memorial.
Cool?
Meh...
I'd think it would be stupid, but I wouldn't care that much.
Utterly laughable - you'd stroke out if something like that happened.
No I wouldn't. There have been lots and lots of actual
consequential things that Dems did that I thought were horrible (the Inflation Reduction Act, for instance). And I didn't stroke out over any of them.
This would be down in the noise for me.
But, I'm sure that you've been getting quite verklempt over the past 1.5 years over some of the
inconsequential things Trump is trying to do - and this name change is one of them.
Personally I don't care if the name changes or not - I've only tried to explain what actually happened here as opposed to the hyperbolic misinformation being bandied about.
