The center puts out annual reports. They show a consist revenue line of around $250 Million in revenue and $45 million Federal Appropriations to maintain the place. Everything else was funneled out to maintain its non-profit status.

This was until recently where revenue has plunged through the floor because artists have cancelled en masse and almost every donor has stopped giving due to the political football nature of the place.

The $100 Million deficit is not on average but a the latest forecast due to all the changes to the place.

They don't want to donate because Trump. It's that simple. The donors are largely far left wing Democrats. They don't want ANY money going to ANYTHING that Trump could be involved in. If the entire center collapsed tomorrow, they wouldn't care, because Trump lost.

The statute says that the Center will be the sole memorial to JFK in the limits of DC. The law says nothing about adding to the name or renaming the Center. In fact what this law actually seems to do is prohibits future erection of national memorials to JFK.

One of the lessons I constantly have to remind junior associates about is "READ THE STATUTE FIRST."

Oh, and to be clear: I don't really care about this issue one way or another.

Since the building is apparently in such a state of shambles, why not do the same thing that happens to so many other similarly sized places: lease out the space to rug shops, furniture liquidators, vape stores, grey market electronics dealers and knockoff fast food chains (Sbizzaro Halal Pizza, Tennessee Fried Kababos, Doner Hut, Five Infidels Bagels, etc.).
