What's the benefit of the multi party property lie (was it 5 instead of 4 or vice versa)?

Everyday Americans cannot lie to a bank to get a mortgage, and if they did, our government would throw the book at them.

Okay, I must admit error. I thought the indictment was about the house she helped her niece buy in 2023, but it appears that the indictment is actually regarding a different house in Norfolk that she bought in 2020.
So I was wrong last night, mea culpa, etc

Every single mortgage document Letitia James signed over the last 42 years had "falsified information" this was not a "one-off" pic.twitter.com/SuU4CNoQZJ
Mortgage fraud is either really serious or not a big deal, it all depends on if it's Trump people being charged or Letitia James.

I saw this comment on one of the stories online.
As a retired banker, I would like to be on this jury. Only questions that matter are:
1. Did you, on your mortgage application, check the box indicating that this property would serve as your residence ( either primary or secondary)?
2. If you did check the box indicating residency, did you ever, at any time, rent this property to a tenant or tenants?
If the answers are both YES, then guilty as charged.
It's really a simple case when broken down.
Mortgage applications clearly state the penalties for lying to a Federally Insured Lender.

And that has teeth. James should consider herself lucky thus far. They could have piled on the charges, if they wanted to do so.
So now we learn that Beth Yusi, the Virginia prosecutor who fought against charging Letitia James, was fired for allegedly emailing investigative files about James to her personal account.

Let that sink in.
The same prosecutor who wrote the “no evidence” memo somehow had so much…
JUST IN: Unusual filing in Tish James case. DOJ says it isn't complying with judge's order to turn over discovery on selective prosecution issue. Usual procedure would be move to reconsider the order but prosecutors file 'notice' telling judge no. Doc: https://t.co/QdAyOeTXRG
