My question is; Why didn't the husband get in her face and say, "Babe, Honey, SHUT the Eff Up, turn around and walk away, or I'm going to carry you away!"
He should have taken care of his wife's behavior himself.
Her husband is a beta wimp who is afraid of his wife. In this case had he simply gone up to her and told her "Honey, we need to walk over here and leave this is not a good scene" and taken her by the hand and walked her 30 feet away she would have not ruined her life. Unfortunately for her she wanted some simp that won't stand up to her and save her from herself as a husband so she's going to find out how that works out for her. All kinds of stupid here.
There are very, very few circumstances where not complying with a cop is something to consider and this sure as hell isn't one of them. Most of the time if you simply comply they will leave you alone, especially if you are polite and respectful. I don't know why this concept is so difficult for people or they think there is some prize in arguing with cops because they don't like cops. Why go through the hassle of being arrested over something stupid? Oh well, FAFO.

I'm not going to pretend like I'm Billy BA but the only time something like this has ever happened with me was a very poorly officiated basketball game where my wife and some other moms were being a bit to vocal about the opposing team getting pretty fouly. After a blatant uncalled flagrant they got really loud and other fans started getting in our face. I jut held up a hand to them and said to stop it, put my hand on my wife's shoulder, and without a word it de-escalated quickly.
I'm not some awesome dominating force or something but both parties knew to cut it out without embarrassing anybody.
The husband here was obviously scared of telling his wife to shut up and take it across the street.

yeah, she was an idiot. But if she is an otherwise capable AG and does a good job, I don't see the need to fire here. She got arrested for being a drunk idiot. Can anyone here claim they've never done something stupid they regret and learned a life lesson from it? .
I'm hate this lazy cop out that gets thrown out every single time in these situations.
Tell me - what did she "learn" from this that she couldn't possibly have known beforehand? What new information or understanding was revealed?

He can't let the narrative be about some dem doing something stupid. When Rs do something stupid, that is the story. When Ds do something stupid, the R reaction is the story.

Libs will never own up to their bad behavior as they're just too smug and arrogant to admit it. Their worldview would be shattered if they ever spent one second on self reflection.

Well we don't know yet as the final outcome is not 100% determined at this point.
She may learn nothing, or she may learn to not get intoxicated in public and act like an idiot to restaurant staff and then police.

Both of the women's arrest reports indicated that alcohol was involved in the incident.
The Rhode Island attorney general's office said in a statement that Flanagan has been employed in the office for seven years and is currently assigned to the criminal division's appellate unit.
Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said that Flanagan has not been placed on leave, but a "strong sanction" would be coming, including a "suspension without pay" if he decides to retain her with the office.
"Look, she's put me in a bad position. She's embarrassed herself, humiliated herself, treated the Newport Police Department horribly," Neronha said.
"She is going to take some steps to try to address that in the next day or so."
While he did not say what the "steps" would entail, he did say an apology to the Newport Police Department was "clearly necessary, and she understands that."
Neronha said Flanagan would "take responsibility for her conduct, and then we'll go from there," adding that he hadn't yet made any decisions regarding discipline.
"It was inexcusable behavior," he said. "She knows better. ... I've got 110 lawyers. She embarrassed all of them, in a sense."
He said that he had Flanagan watch the body camera footage herself, take a few days and then come back to him with what she thought she needed to do to "make this right."
"I have the responsibility to protect the office, obviously, and the work, but these are decisions that impact human beings, too," Neronha said, adding that Flanagan has children, and "they're going to see these tapes."

Whether that woman keeps her job will no doubt hugely depend on A) How much goodwill (or not) she's banked as a professional with her co-workers and bosses over the past 7 years in that AG office (i.e., what type of person she actually is day-to-day and how different or not that is from the brief video that strangers like us now know her) and B) How quick and strong of steps she takes to show remorse. And even then, if she keeps that job, she'll probably be walking a tightrope for a long time to come before this incident gradually fades away.

She is an employee of the taxpayers of Rhode Island. She should be immediately terminated, as would happen in most private businesses.

I'll say this as a guy that was married to an alcoholic suburban white woman for 18 years. That whole interaction sent shivers down me from familiarity. I really think that when they get to that point nothing is registering in their brains. I can't count the number of times I had to plead with with different people and establishments over her behavior while trying to just get her out. Then she'd have absolutely no receptor any of it the next day.

If she's an Ag, I don't want her.....unless she's donating some serious NIL.
We don't need this kind representing us folks.

In 2025, far more women behave badly compared to men. In the last 50 years, the "overall quality" of men has improved and the quality of women has degraded.
Men pay the price for bad behavior and shape up early in life. Our culture gives women a free pass so bad behavior continues and everyone is afraid of being called a sexist so they don't call it out.
Women hate it when I point this out.
