But, I'm also a pragmatist...

Zelensky will have to acquiesce on a loss of SOME territory. BUT, not as much as the Russians hold.

Putin will get some of the current occupied territory. And some, but not ALL sanctions lifted.

The sticking point will be future security protections. Ukraine (not just Zelensky) wants NATO membership for protection. Putin wants no security protections so he can put in a Russian compliant government.

It's clear Trump thinks that his personal relationship with Putin will somehow magically bring peace in the end. That's not how Putin works. He's never worked that way. He's cold and calculating. Putin's stance hasn't changed and he will continue marching forward with his stated goals. He'll flatter Trump but that's only to make Trump believe that their personal relationship matters and to buy more time to conquer Ukrainian land.
