I'm sure you would since my account wasn't activated until 2022, but feel free for you and the others with reading difficulties to make up more accusations.e=mc2 said:TA-OP said:What part of I loathe all gerrymandering? I loathe gerrymandering period. Always have. I don't care what letter is behind your name. This, "but he did it," game is getting old between the parties. Someone needs to act like a grownup in the room.
Real convienent you want them to act like grownups AFTER your side gets the benefits of it.
I bet I won't find a single by you calling out your side in 2021.

TX
56% voted Republican in 2024
66% of Congressman are Republicans
CA
58.5% voted Democrat in 2024
82.6% of Congressman are Democrats
NY
56% voted Democrat in 2024
73% of Congressman are Democrats
Go look at IL...or MD...or MA...
I'm tired of the left claiming OPPRESSION when they have many more states that have employed these tactics...
I don't think the problem people are having is with gerrymandering, but rather doing it now instead of every ten years like is normally done.
And Republicans have walked out to defeat quorum before. All politicians are huge hypocrites, both sides.
I call 100,000% BULL*****!!!
The last redistricting that occurred in NY was in 2024...
And I see the "talking points" about "doing it after the census" are now out...
Since you're the 3rd poster I've seen make that kind of statement...
Talk about bull****…
The reason NY redistricted in 2024 was because they started the process after the 2020 census, and it took three years to get a redistricting plan approved. But even then, a court ordered them to redraw it AGAIN in December 2023. You can read all about it here. https://redistricting.lls.edu/state/new-york/?cycle=2020&level=Congress&startdate=2024-02-28
If you're going to call bull**** in someone, it's best to have the facts on your side.
These types have no use for facts.
YOU should NEVER talk about having a use for facts...
I was correct in my statement - they did redistricting in 2024. I misunderstood WHY they had done it in 2024. Mea culpa.
BTW, what HTown didn't tell you was WHY the process took so long...the Dems attempt to gerrymander in 2020 was SO BLATANTLY BAD that it was ruled unconstitutional...Not sure why HTown left THAT fact out of his snarky response to me...
Following the 2020 census, the Democratic-controlled state legislature rejected the maps submitted by the IRC and instead enacted its own maps. Republican plaintiffs challenged those districts in state court, arguing that they were unconstitutional gerrymanders in violation of the 2014 amendment. In a 2022 decision, the New York State Court of Appeals agreed, striking down the state legislature's maps and holding that they were drawn with impermissible partisan intent.
Now, do you care about the fact that Democrats gerrymandered much worse than TX and have done so for years?
I didn't leave anything out. If you couldn't figure out that the Democrats that were in charge, and have been in charge of the New York Assembly since before I was born, were sued and had to redraw it because a court said their blatant gerrymander was unconstitutional, that's not my fault. Because all the proof was there embedded in those links. I didn't think I'd have to include that it was because of Democrat gerrymandering, because I assumed that people that can rub two brain cells together and have a college degree would have an inkling of knowledge about when the last time the Democrats controlled the New York Assembly. I won't make that mistake next time.

When fugitives from justice cross state lines, that's exactly when Feds should get involved.

Then why does Crockett, the mensa, keep squealing that she may lose her seat because of redistricting?

The difference between then and now is that the men of the Alamo weren't cowards.

Their duty in in Austin, representing constituents and the state. Their duty is not grandstanding and taking taxpayer money to be in other states while the legislature is in session. Sometimes, you end up on the losing side of votes. That is democracy.
