I am still waiting for a single one of them to condemn their own party's massive gerrymandering in every state they can do it.

I loathe gerrymandering period. Always have. I don't care what letter is behind your name. This, "but he did it," game is getting old between the parties. Someone needs to act like a grownup in the room.

Real convienent you want them to act like grownups AFTER your side gets the benefits of it.
What part of I loathe all gerrymandering? Real convenient that you and other rightists continue to ignore what I actually write. Some of y'all ask for lib responses. You get one. And it's not what you expected. Grow up. FFS.

I bet I won't find a single by you calling out your side in 2021.
I'm sure you would since my account wasn't activated until 2022, but feel free for you and the others with reading difficulties to make up more accusations.

TX
56% voted Republican in 2024
66% of Congressman are Republicans

CA
58.5% voted Democrat in 2024
82.6% of Congressman are Democrats

NY
56% voted Democrat in 2024
73% of Congressman are Democrats

Go look at IL...or MD...or MA...

I'm tired of the left claiming OPPRESSION when they have many more states that have employed these tactics...

I don't think the problem people are having is with gerrymandering, but rather doing it now instead of every ten years like is normally done.

And Republicans have walked out to defeat quorum before. All politicians are huge hypocrites, both sides.

I call 100,000% BULL*****!!!

The last redistricting that occurred in NY was in 2024...

And I see the "talking points" about "doing it after the census" are now out...

Since you're the 3rd poster I've seen make that kind of statement...

Talk about bull****…
The reason NY redistricted in 2024 was because they started the process after the 2020 census, and it took three years to get a redistricting plan approved. But even then, a court ordered them to redraw it AGAIN in December 2023. You can read all about it here. https://redistricting.lls.edu/state/new-york/?cycle=2020&level=Congress&startdate=2024-02-28

If you're going to call bull**** in someone, it's best to have the facts on your side.

These types have no use for facts.

YOU should NEVER talk about having a use for facts...

I was correct in my statement - they did redistricting in 2024. I misunderstood WHY they had done it in 2024. Mea culpa.

BTW, what HTown didn't tell you was WHY the process took so long...the Dems attempt to gerrymander in 2020 was SO BLATANTLY BAD that it was ruled unconstitutional...Not sure why HTown left THAT fact out of his snarky response to me...

Following the 2020 census, the Democratic-controlled state legislature rejected the maps submitted by the IRC and instead enacted its own maps. Republican plaintiffs challenged those districts in state court, arguing that they were unconstitutional gerrymanders in violation of the 2014 amendment. In a 2022 decision, the New York State Court of Appeals agreed, striking down the state legislature's maps and holding that they were drawn with impermissible partisan intent.

Now, do you care about the fact that Democrats gerrymandered much worse than TX and have done so for years?

I didn't leave anything out. If you couldn't figure out that the Democrats that were in charge, and have been in charge of the New York Assembly since before I was born, were sued and had to redraw it because a court said their blatant gerrymander was unconstitutional, that's not my fault. Because all the proof was there embedded in those links. I didn't think I'd have to include that it was because of Democrat gerrymandering, because I assumed that people that can rub two brain cells together and have a college degree would have an inkling of knowledge about when the last time the Democrats controlled the New York Assembly. I won't make that mistake next time.

I knew the Dems were in charge - hence the gerrymandering.

You definitely left out the part about it being unconstitutional with your COMMENTS...which (I'm QUITE sure you know) OMISSION of facts is one of the worst parts of posting...throwing out a link without APPROPRIATE context is useless.

However...Omission is part of your schtick.

BTW, I hope you follow your self imposed PIP in the future.

The home she "claims" to be her primary residence so she could run for her current district was drawn into the neighboring district - making her ineligible to run for reelection in her own district unless she "moves".

You simply have to live in the state.

She is a gift to the R party. Big mistake jacking around excluding her from her current district… unless we get two Crocketts out of the deal.

But the bigger issue at hand is making sure the GOP runs actual loyalists in the new valley districts and not dolts and traitors.

Interesting. But there is strong discord against folks who don't. For Crockett this is a non issue as she would still be adjacent and has a reason she no longer resides in district.

Points to people should be riled up about carpetbaggers and not gerrymanders.

As a distant relative of someone who died at the Alamo, I find this comparison both insulting and disgusting. There is no comparison of the men who fought and died at the Alamo to these left wing hack cowards that ran and fled when duty called.

With all due respect, you aren't looking at this correctly. They ARE doing their duty! It just isn't the same duty you and I expect them to have.

I guarantee you they think they are being heroic just like those at the Alamo because their cause is just in their minds. As leftists, their allegiance lies with their goals for power, not the just rule of law or the American way.

David_Puddy

Well sadly none of this really matters to the people in their districts and in Al Green's case, he gets to virtually run unopposed in his. Which makes sense as to why he's at the forefront in this charade of trying to prevent more Republican leadership in Texas, which represents the vast majority of the state.

i don't know about crockett, but green is done if this map gets approved.

TX-9 goes from a Harris +44 to Trump +15.

he may not even get the nomination as the district would no longer have black people as the largest ethnic group

Good point. Shame they see their duty not to the people of Texas or to the Texas Constitution. Seems their duty is to party and the party of Marx/Lenin/Trosky. i doubt we will see any perp walks but it would be good theater.

They are NOT doing their duty.

Their duty in in Austin, representing constituents and the state. Their duty is not grandstanding and taking taxpayer money to be in other states while the legislature is in session. Sometimes, you end up on the losing side of votes. That is democracy.
