This actually works out better politically. Keeps the story in the news and they get to show how Democrats went and pleaded to bring back a child trafficker to the US and got their wish so he can rot in jail here. It also shatters any of the "Maryland man" crap permanently.

Until SCOTUS grows a few pairs, the administration will have to play the games with all these partisan district judges. No worries, his stay will be short. A few days to complete the hearing that officially boots him back out, and he goes right back.

If the Democrats take the House in 2026, he will, probably multiple times.

Conviction in the Senate is the only unknown.

While detained, I think he was being kept in El Salvador in a different place with much better conditions than the prisons seen on TV (the one from the ICE Barbie photoshoot). Now he's going to a real jail.

That's actually genius.

So he's been indicted on new and previously un brought charges that he's being extradited to face. Surely he'll be held without bail, tried, and if find guilty sentenced to serve his sentence somewhere, then re-deported to his home country of El Salvador to have whatever gang related convictions he has.

Can you show me where the US has filed something the removed attorney (Ryan Reuveni) was wrong about the mistaken removal?

Because in a filing to the Supreme Court, Solicitor General John Sauer wrote: But, while the United States concedes that removal to El Salvador was an administrative error...

This was after Rueveni was removed. So you can't blame him.

Is there a subsequent filing where Sauer says he was mistaken?

In May, DoJ was still saying a mistake was made:

UPDATE: DOJ attorney Jonathan Guynn reaffirms that Abrego Garcia was deported to El Salvador "in error" but says it was not "misconduct." Judge Xinis rejects that premise, notes Abrego Garcia was seized without a warrant or lawful authority. Guynn says that's not misconduct.

I think it reflects poorly on the administration - they screwed up when they deported him, and it sounds like they found out about all of the things he's charged with after the fact. Ready, fire, aim.

This is coming from someone absolutely in favor of locking the border down and getting illegal immigration under control. They 'fixed the glitch' but they shouldn't have had one to begin with.
