I agree on all points, unfortunately.
It's not only the Bible Thumpers. It's Standard Sales and Glazer's and all the rest of the beer distributors who do not want to lose shelf space to THC stuff.BrazosDog02 said:rsf0626 said:
Why tf does the law need be made stricter? Products like D8 that are highly regulated are infinitely safer than the illegal crap thats coming over the border.
For the party of freedom they certainly do love telling people how to live their lives
Because it's Dan Patrick and a bunch of Bible thumpers that want you to be regulated for no good reason. They want it so bad they are killing jobs and tax revenues to make it so.
Oh well, this heavy right wing Republican will be voting for "anyone except big government republicans" from now on in this state.
Time for the old folks to die off.

Lt Dan has a point about these THC vape things being potent and there is a societal cost. In particular, that our county jails in rural Texas have 25% of its population suffering some level of mental health problem costing one heck of a lotta money in pharma and medical treatment. It's probably the Devil's Lettuce that drove them mad but the potheads will argue that the Devil's Lettuce is some kind of wonderful magic healing organic superfood.

Even if you don't like THC, the nonsensical anti-freedom, industry-destroying government overreach should concern everybody.

Never smoked/ingested any illicit drugs, nor have I ever drank the Devil's Tears (or whatever gayass name one wants to label alcohol), but I don't like a bunch of busybody bull**** and govt overreach.

IMHO, THC is not the big problem. alcohol is the big problem.
Pretty smart if you are a politician and want big pharma money. That's all it is, a money grab.Esteban du Plantier said:

Ah, we have found a "marijuana is healthy for all" ideologue. I am completely unconvinced that marijuana has any health benefits and a skeptic that marijuana is harmless. I am especially a skeptic that high THC content in vapes is healthy. I point to 25% of rural county jails full of nut jobs as exhibit 1 against the 'marijuana is healthy' crowd.cslifer said:

That is the kind of stuff that is on the signs the nut jobs hold up on campus.
Quote:
Almost no one is in prison for marijuana;
A tiny fraction of doctors write most authorizations for medical marijuana, mostly for people who have already used;
Marijuana use is linked to opiate and cocaine use. Since 2008, the US and Canada have seen soaring marijuana use and an opiate epidemic. Britain has falling marijuana use and no epidemic;
Most of all, THCthe chemical in marijuana responsible for the drug's highcan cause psychotic episodes. After decades of studies, scientists no longer seriously debate if marijuana causes psychosis.
Psychosis brings violence, and cannabis-linked violence is spreading. In the four states that first legalized, murders have risen 25 percent since legalization, even more than the recent national increase. In Uruguay, which allowed retail sales in July 2017, murders have soared this year.
Berenson's reporting ranges from the London institute that is home to the scientists who helped prove the cannabis-psychosis link to the Colorado prison where a man now serves a thirty-year sentence after eating a THC-laced candy bar and killing his wife. He sticks to the facts, and they are devastating.

Alex Berenson wrote a book concerning my skepticism. "Tell Your Children: The Truth About Marijuana, Mental Illness, and Violence". The Amazon description of the book:Quote:

You can remain a skeptic all you want by reading literature to confirm your bias. Marijuana unequivocally DOES provide at least some medical benefit to people. This fact isn't up for debate. There isn't a single medical professional I have met that says otherwise including every psychiatrist I've ever worked with.
Tying marijuana to violence based on very loosely connected anecdotal data points doesn't prove anything. I will give you the fact that marijuana does attract people with histories of mental illness and people prone to commit violence. But there is next to no demonstrable proof that marijuana CAUSES violence.
But you are entitled to your opinion. And I hope you're equally as passionate about banning alcohol and tobacco as those are infinitely worse than THC and kill millions of people a year. Not to mention alcohol definitely has been shown to lead to violence yet is legal in every US state.

Was at a dinner earlier and a friends dad (60s brought this up). Proudly told us he's never ever had a whiff of marijuana or ever tried the stuff.
Homie had 4 miller lites with dinner, threw in a pinch of Copenhagen after, then drove up to Oklahoma to spend the weekend at Choctaw.
But thank goodness he's never polluted his temple with weed. Lol. Wonder if my friends dad posts on here? He's an Aggie.
