Not sure if any of you have been following X the last few days but it's been a ****show. It's been basically a civil war of classic MAGA against tech bros with MAGA against H1-Bs and the tech bros pushing for infinite legal migration. Musk himself got Ratio'ed numerous times.

This all began because Trump nominated Sriram Krishnan to be his AI advisor despite Krishnan living in London, calling India home, and pushing for no caps on H1-Bs.

There has been a full on revolt against this.

I can't tell you how many times I have heard this statement in the past few days:

It's going to be very interesting to see how this evolves. Regardless, if we don't fix the H1-B issue then the US will turn into Canada and become India 2.0. The fact that 72% of these visas are given to Indians alone says something is entirely broken with the system.

Great post,

I was watching this unfold last night after spending time with family. It's amazing seeing how Elon's true ambitions come to light.

He can hire H1B and pay them the same or less than American but he can work them 80 hours a week and they'll do it with no complaints otherwise they get deported.

I think its BS that we allow so many Indians/Chinese to take high paying jobs when there are plenty of capable Americans to fill those spots.

It all boils back down to money at the end of the day. I hope trump ends this garbage.

Edit: Indians are very insulated and nepotistic with their own kind. They have zero problem laying off Americans and replacing them with Indians

First lets get out the illegals and immigrants that do not contribute, negative cost proposition, murderers, alcoholic death drivers, rapist, and illiterates in their own language.

Then let us argue about the degreed tech workers.

Disagree, we need to get rid of all of them at the same time. There is no need for us to be importing hundreds of thousands of indians and chinese year after year. I prefer the mexicans who will assimilate at that point.

They are draining the country and are part of the reason why housing is an issue.

Trump has been signalling very bad things regarding "legal immigration" as far back as June.

America's need and her people should be put first.

Elon can hire Americans but he's too cheap and wants to work them round the clock.

I'm old enough to remember when we had a culture that would rise to the occasion if the country needed it. Now it appears outsourcing or foreign recruitment is the answer. Not good if there's no impetus on cultural assimilation.

Not just the tech industry. They are all over the trucking industry. What reason is there to import foreign truck drivers other than to undercut wages?

Is this boomer parody? Companies would rather pay for cheap foreign labor. Its not that complicated

You just need to be willing to work 100 hours a week.

All of this boils back down to money.

Labor is the biggest expense for Silicon Valley, they want cheap labor and they can get it by using H1-B's. Elon is no different. He wants company who will do nothing but focus on work. IMO that the antithesis of what we need. Back in the Cold War we had brilliant men who worked hard but were still able to be family men building rockets for NASA.

I find it extremely difficult to believe that in the most advanced country in the world with a population of 330 Million, that Elon cant find talent.

There is more than enough talent and grit here, Silicon Valley just doesnt want to pay American wages at the end of the day.

No, the H1-B is doing to the middle and upper middle classes what illegal immigration did to the working class. It's diabolical in nature and absolutely designed to destroy the middle class here.

There is also this. Every single Indian on X has been doing this. It's across the board. Any time you criticize India for any reason you get flooded with comments like these.

Their inferiority complex is immense and they absolutely hate heritage Americans and want to turn the entirety of the West into India 2.0.

We want all of the world's best like Elon Musk and the Nutella guy from Microsoft to come here.

We want tons of talented people to legally migrate here. We have imported enough peasants to clean homes and mow lawns for several generations,

Anyone who's unhappy with foreigners being here should focus their efforts on making local talent more competitive (e.g. Burning and rebuilding public schools, severely curtailing government support for non productive learning disciplines)...dont shut off the flow of foreign talent until we're ready to fill the jobs they're taking.

Ever notice how most financial institutions (USAA being the big one) have outsourced their phone centers, support to India. Its absolutely infuriating that these jobs could easily be done by Americans who can actually speak english

People have no idea how bad it is. Tech recruiting has been ruined by them to the point where every tech recruiting company is now a scam to get more Indians here.

There is PLENTY of talent here who can do the jobs these supposed "high skilled" immigrants can do. Again it just boils back down to companies wanting cheap labor

They are in all engineering disciplines now and all of them are poorer quality than heritage Americans. I've never met an H1-B that I thought was good at anything.

No, we do not want "tons" of people to migrate here. We have enough hardworking and talented Americans to fill every job.

These people are not the cream of the crop. They are foreign interlopers who scam their way in and use nepotistic hiring practices to bring over their family and friends from abroad.

Moratorium on all immigration, now.

Yes, the immigrants clogging up the housing supply and increasing prices is a problem. They don't need to be here at all.

Companies aren't outsourcing their tech departments to India because they are better. They do so because it shows a nice SGA dip (labor costs) and a reduction in headcount (they are contractors so they don't "count"). This is largely a game played by upper middle management in the pursuit of becoming executives.

It's to the point where I refuse to contract with foreigners. If I don't hear an American or European accent on the phone, I'm done and I won't be contacting them again.

I'm so sick of not being able to understand people on the phone and having to try and ****ing guess at what they are saying.

They also work by a script and any time you deviate from that script they meltdown and can't help you. I've had them hang up on me many times merely for asking a question because they were incapable of answering it.

Speak for yourself. No one wants infinite foreign migration but legally. The sentiment on X has been universally against it except for the Indians and tech bros who of course want infinite migration because they want India 2.0.

I automatically hang up and keep calling till I get an American accent or refuse to let them talk until I speak to a manager (who is usually American). All these companies who outsource should be heavily fined IMO if they dont bring the jobs back home

all the low cost people I work with sit in India and work late into their night to support us. The immigrants from low cost countries live here and are paid the going rate. You're not going to do anything about farming out work to low cost countries...

Maybe my place of business is unique.

The issue is that for every 1 good one, we're paying for at least 9 worthless piles of dung. So they are cheaper on paper but there is so much other $$$ going out the door from bugs, lack of ingenuity in doing productivity enhancements, longer timelines to get any projects done, etc

This is what I've seen at a Fortune 100 over the past 20 years. Savings on the IT line. Cost everywhere else
