Point remains Greenberg pled down a potential life sentence for a laundry list of awful crimes and that's why he's in prison and will be for years. That Tweet that's going around from Mollie Hemingway and this discussion that "he's in prison for lying" is leaving out 99% of the story.
It's not leaving out 99% of the story. It's focusing on the context to THIS story. The Feds didn't find him the least bit credible mostly because he had previously made similar accusations at least twice that were both proven false.
We don't know what they found credible or not. His plea deal likely would have been rescinded if they determined he wasn't giving them an healthy dose of accurate information.
To get Gaetz on the federal sex trafficking charge they were looking at, they would need to prove beyond reasonable doubt he knew the 17 year old's age or reasonably should have known. The Report is very straightforward that would have been very difficult to prove.
That's the most likely explanation but again, we don't know.
And of course they're leaving out 99% of the "context" by just saying "Greenberg's a liar!" in trying to paint the report as false. Gaetz and Greenberg were known friends, they know Greenberg was doing this, Gaetz has acknowledged in principal he did drugs and had the sex, they have checks and texts and they have other witnesses who corroborated it.
