Pretty bad in what respect? Give us specifics, please. Or, are you basing that on what others are saying, just like the investigation did?
Several girls, one age 17, said he paid them for sex. He also provided drugs. He didnt even deny it. He just said he has changed since then. I honestly love it when "conservatives" defend this behavior.

And… that's it?
Paying 18 year olds for sex and providing them with dope? Yeah, that's pretty much it. Trumps choice for head law enforcement.

If drug use and sex with younger girls was disqualifying, there would be nobody left in congress.

This is BS argument. The DOJ tried to get him for trafficking but the witness was no where near reliable. The only other possible charges would be state charges. People saying just because the DOJ would not charge are ignoring almost any prosecution would be by the state not DOJ.

There is likely nothing criminal (the 17 year old is a potential issue depending on where it happened) but you can't say that based on the DOJ not charging. Last I heard there was still an investigation in Florida.

17 is not legal in most states and would be statutory rape.

The age of consent of 18 is 12 out of 50 states. 17 is permissible in 32 states so it is legal in most states.

I did not say I was or wasn't okay with 17. I was just correcting a post in error.

There is also the compounding issue that the 17 yo girl had a validly issued license with a falsified birthdate showing she was at least 18 at the time.

Gaetz could easily claim he looked at her license (not saying he actually did).

Edit: This is only in regards to Gaetz providing a defense for the solicitation of a minor, not any other possibly illegal acts.

The girl lied about her age when she registered on the site where Greenberg met her. There is no evidence that Gaetz knew her age outside Greenberg's word, the word of a convicted felon who lied numerous times about other people and even tried to frame his lawyer with porn pics of kids.

Gaetz paid prostitutes for sex and did some illegal drugs. That's the extent of it.

It's illegal in Florida if you're over 24 or 25, somewhere in there.

Basically, not criminalizing college-aged kids for sleeping with young classmates or their slightly younger HS friends, I guess

Based on the word of a convicted felon who falsely accused others of crimes and tried to frame his own lawyer and on the prostitute who told Greenberg she would lie.

Did you ever learn the meaning of the word hypocrisy?

And he's not being prosecuted why?

I'm not defending ANY behavior. I don't believe it happened -- at least not to the extent (or in the way, certainly not your summary) it is stated, especially by those that despise him. If all this were actually true, he would have been indicted a long time ago. At the very least, they would have pressured him into resigning from Congress.

His constituents certainly don't buy into it.

Doesn't matter because I don't believe a word the government says…. Even this. They have no credibility.

The one thing I do believe is if Biden's DOJ had real evidence to put Gates or any republican away they would do it.
This. The witnesses and the evidence had to be really bad for the dems not to use it and nail him. He was the biggest critic of the DOJ and I appreciate him for that. He was a Trump guy from the get-go first term, too.

As stated, he has resigned and he sued to block the release of the report. Beyond that, there's a slew of texts that backup everything that's being presented. There is 0 doubt that Matt Gaetz was hiring prostitutes and doing drugs with them and supplying them with drugs.

He may not have known the exact age of one or more of those prostitutes and at least one was a minor, but it all certainly happened.

A solid majority of his fellow congressmen absolutely believe that he did this or some version of it. And they've thought that for way longer than the ethics report has been public. Those that elect him may not know or care but those that worked with him aren't surprised by any of this.
