We were told to withdraw our Christmas PTO requests today and anticipate a shutdown since we will be off and just get back pay later.
And we paid for his truck with funds that were meant to be allocated for education. It's almost like there is a common theme....YouBet said:Tea Party said:Teslag said:

People with a lack of morals are a big problem contributing to our culture rot.
Congrats on your taxpayer funded vacation though…
You also get to contribute $24k per year for his disability. Wait for it....it's sleep apnea.
Our country has jumped the shark. Gonna be fun when this whole thing collapses.

So MJ ran out the clock to give the dems a bill tonight that they would vote against, making them responsible for shutdown?
Good. Give them deals to keep gov open that they will reject. That is the way.
That only works if MJ didn't negotiate a deal himself and then go on TV talking about how wonderful it is first. Now the Rs just look like a bunch of jabronis again

WTF is Cloud doing voting against that? His district covers all of Elon's facilities in Bastrop. No way he is ducking past a well funded primary opponent in 2026 if he is already picking fights with Trump and Elon.Farmer_J said:

So basically free paid (eventual) PTO, while you keep your actual PTO on the books?
As someone posted, many of the things they want to get done next year need to have the debt limit raised. Because the CBO scoring will show that initial "costs" will raise the deficit. Which makes it harder to get it done via reconciliation...Dan Scott said:
The original bill is going to pass with the addition of debt ceiling increase. Maybe some other things left off. Trump is desperate for debt limit increase.
so who is mimicking whom? Cuban or Maddow? Kinda think Mark is trying emulate her.FobTies said:
Maybe once Trump is elected we can get a "Cuban Shutdown"
Are you claiming sleep apnea isn't a disability? I have severe sleep apnea caused by burn pit exposure in Afghanistan, so severe that my doctor says that sleeping without my CPAP is a real risk to my life. I'm in pretty good shape for being 47, I'm not obese and exercise multiple times a week so it isn't due to life style choices, it was the burn pitsYouBet said:Tea Party said:Teslag said:

I'm not knowledgeable of the house rules - but from reading this evening it sounds like it would take 100% of republicans to vote yes + at least 70 dems?
So - it seems like this was never going to pass today. Not sure what the end game is.
That said - the gov't shutdown freak outs are always overblown media drama.

So use a cpap which I assume is being covered. You aren't disabled. Sounds like you are able to get up and go to work just fine

When you have insomnia, a CPAP doesn't help with falling asleep, it's uncomfortable and disrupts the ability to fall asleep. It certainly doesn't make me whole. Im also an agoraphobe due to my thyroid issues, and for the most part my medications that have host of side effects, work to get over that feeling and anxiety. My time in Afghanistan wrecked my body and mind, so it pisses me off to see folks like you imply that they aren't real issues or that they are easily managedDannyDuberstein said:
