If you want to be even more angry.

Hunter used the SS to protect him from paying $300k in rent. Changed the locks and hid behind the armed men.

Aiding and abetting pursuant to conspiracy to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, has a general statute of limitations of five years or six years under certain circumstances. Hunter remained on the Burisma Board until April 2019. The last act of the conspiracy can be used to bootstrap other crimes committed out of the limitations period.

You bet your bottom there is.

Democrats do not care about the rule of law. They weaponized the justice system to tilt the scales in their favor while they committed their illegal and treasonous acts.

And so another Democrat - this time the POTUS - is shown to be a lying hypocrite.
The problem - and the challenge - is that there are never negative consequences to their acts. Those of you who say the optics of the Trump administration investigating and prosecuting those involved would be bad miss out on the point that they get off scot-free (again).
When will the time come when someone does have the "fortitude" to make them pay?

Can any lawyer jump in on this? Is this how pardons work or does he just walk free?

A couple of things at play here. There are potential statute of limitations issues first off that could make criminal charges time barred. That question will be at DOJ.

The corollary is potential investigations by Congress. There is a legislative purpose for revisiting the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and amending it both substantively and then extending the statute of limitations since there is not a specific one set forth in the current act. Hunter can be subpoenaed for those hearings and he will not be able to take the 5th in those. He can be forced to testify. He can always say he doesn't remember because he was a drug fueled haze.

So would the juice be worth the squeeze?

If so, most parents wouldn't lie about it on a daily basis for years. Dems are above the law. That poster knows that but he won't admit it because he is one of them.

Couldn't Hunter also invoke his 5th amendment right against self-incrimination for state crimes?

Yes, which is why all this talk about he'd have to testify to everything in front of Congress is wishful thinking.

He can try. But he'd have to convince Pam Bondi's DOJ of that.

Again using the legislative purpose of reforming the FCPA keeps it on the federal level.

I skimmed the 7 pages and the universal response is "we knew this was coming"

Which pundits are surprised?
Most of the answers from the first page on are "That's BS!" and other outrage. I mean I predicted this years ago and knew it would happen and obviously a lot of people did. To me this was a "Uh, yeah. This is barely news except to rub Democrats noses in it."

My statement wasn't really even about this thread though and more that in general there are people who didn't expect this to happen because Biden and his supporters and pundits said he wouldn't over and over again. Some people actually believe it or like being lied to.

I think we all need to get over the fact that nothing will happen here. The Bidens will not be held accountable because the corruption doesn't stop with them. There are many people in government elected or otherwise who had their hands in this Ukraine / China cookie jar.

No one in congress is going to pursue anything here as a result. This pardon was a huge relief for many and everything going on will die with Hunter and Joe.

Clearly though, this just adds fuel to the fire of the illegitimacy and conspiracies around the Ukraine War. We need to abandon that post haste and I hope Trump does just that.

I do believe Schiff got that wrong, BTW. Use of pardon power is not obstruction of justice according to SCOTUS.

Separation of powers issue that the pardon power granted to the Executive is seldom if ever subject to judicial review. Just not the role of the judiciary.

Lol, so let me get this right. The pardon is OK because he was unfairly targeted by his dad's own DoJ....

But we also have to go back almost a decade and excuse any possible crimes that he may have committed back then...
Including the ones that Trump was impeached for inquiring about.

C'mon.
If Hunter's only crime was the gun charge, more people could probably understand and might even have some sympathy since at the time he was a drug addict. (Probably still is, but that's another topic.)

However, this was clearly done to cover up and protect Hunter from all of this other nefarious activates with Ukraine, China, etc. That goes well beyond trying to help his kid get beyond one single foul up.

And if it was my kid, I would not pardon him whatsoever. My dad taught me that if you do the crime, you pay the price for it. He always said if I ever got arrested, he would never bail me out. Guess what, I never got arrested.

I'm really just amazed that so many people are surprised by this blanket 10 year pardon stuff. Have most of you really been willing to give Biden's the benefit of the doubt about their altruism/principles/honesty etc? All the Biden corruption in Ukraine over the years since the revolution is thoroughly documented. That's what they want to cover up with haste now, before Hunter's sentencing on some stupid tax/gun charges. And yes, of course more pardons will follow.

The Bidens are truly evil people. There have been few people in the past willing to start/support wars purely for their own profit. Another day, another nearly billion dollars to the slaughter house.

Remember Obama only wanted to send over some blankets and no weapons but a billion dollars of loan gurantees was fine and dandy? Money is fungible, easier to hide and grift.

So Hunter can no longer plead the 5th since he's been pardoned. This means he can be made to testify against all the deep state actors that helped the Bidens right?
