Pivotal development. Shifted the immigration conversation from a border state to a national issue and shined a light on the failures of the Biden administration.
Abbott, Cornyn, John Sharp, and Bush are all GOP elite they all need to go.
It was a light out move. To see immigration be a concern on a national scale was something I never thought I'd see. The number of conversations I've had with libs living 1000+ miles from the border telling me illegal immigration is the compassionate thing to do was torture.

People on this forum have been joking for over a decade to ship illegals to blue strongholds and wealthy areas in the northeast. The result was even better than expected, and its importance in this election cannot be understated.
The most revealing part to me was dropping off 50 people in Martha's Vineyard, and seeing the National Guard deployed there within 24 hours to remove them.

Abbott bussed people all over the country because it would benefit him politically and he was riding a safe wave because he heard illegal immigration was not popular with TX citizens.
Abbott is establishment, but he's been more red-pilled these several years. He screwed up big time when COVID first hit, with his mask mandates and lockdowns, but he repented and saw the light.

Yeah, free bus rides are the reason that the illegals just kept coming. They would totally stayed home if they had to buy their own bus fare. Or they would have stayed in Texas.

It is serious and calls out the idiocy of government sanctioned assistance to illegals. You can praise helping illegals all you want for the political gotcha towards the democrats but I'd rather stay focused on not giving government a pass for helping illegals.
He didn't force any illegals out of Texas. They had to voluntarily go and sign a waiver. Thus Abbott helped illegals that get to their desired destination further in the U.S. when he could have done countless other actions to secure the border and deter illegals rather than attract them.

I respect that mentality, but view that as an unnecessary risk when those pro illegal invasion areas are already viewing illegals as political clout. Census, federal funding, racial division, etc.
The plan could severely backfire. Though it could get bailed out by Trumps mass deportations and the left severely overplaying their hand of sprinting rather than walking left.
And the bigger question is why are we bothering to teach leftists why illegal immigration is bad? The political ideologies are so incompatible that you either have to beat them into submission, submit to them, or part ways. Giving them illegals to deal with in the hopes they learn from it is insanity. It's a miscalculation being praised because it might get bailed out.

To be blunt: most people from non-border states are much more racist than we are, but they claim they aren't. We're the ones buying breakfast tacos, watching our kids playing sports with their kids, and interacting on a daily basis. We know that there are plenty of good people from down south that are coming here for a better life. But we also see the bad ones.
Those in non-border states hear stories about the good immigrants and think stories about the bad ones are bogus. The second they realize that it's incredibly difficult to integrate people who have no intention of integrating, they back off their open borders stance. Remember: we don't need "build the wall" from these people. We simply need them to realize that "they aren't harming anyone" is bull***** And because they are much more racist than we are down here, the second they have to adapt to people who haven't adopted our language or way of living, they get radically uncomfortable.

You must have missed where Abbott was deploying floating barriers and razor wire only to have the feds physically remove it and fight him endlessly in court. He finally threw his hands up and said, ok you want to be a sanctuary city, prove it. He had the mayors of NYC and Chicago squealing like a stuck pig over a few thousand people. Good Abbott. After some rocky covid moments Abbott has been very good on just about everything.
Yeah I personally don't have much affinity toward Abbott (mainly around his TAMU-related appointments and being a sip) and would like to see someone succeed him who is not a sip, but I think even his biggest detractors on the right would have to concede he's been a pretty effective governor overall and challenged the Biden admin vigorously as much as he could.

Under this administration the illegals were coming unabated and Abbott's efforts to control the border were limited due to jurisdiction and what he did try to do was restricted by the administration at every turn. As an added bonus the other 46 states had no skin in the game on this issue because Texas was living it but they weren't.

Abbott deserves accolades for waking much of the country up regarding illegal invaders pouring over the border. So his recent growth spurt in the cahones department makes him much more stomachable than during the dark days of Covid.
