For those of you unfamiliar with military medals, the bronze star is awarded for heroism in a combat zone.
Pete has 2 of them.

Let’s GO. 🔥
As a 22 year veteran and current active duty member, I don't know how I feel about this. Accountability is important but really don't like the idea of Generals making risk averse decisions in fear of being fired.
Obama gutted the senior leadership of conservatives.

I miss old Hackworth
I was 25 when he passed in 2005 and was able to see him speak at Benning before going to my first duty station in 2003. Everything he said to us as young 2nd LT's stuck with me.
The show he was on Saturday mornings at foxnews was pretty good as well.

I see it. Most on here tonight seem more concerned with exploding brains on msm and libs than what is best for our country. This guy isn't it.

That pretty much is how promotions work at the three and four star level. Three and four star officers are not selected by a board, they are nominated for those ranks by the service chiefs and Secretaries. You are kidding yourself if you don't believe political patronage plays a role in those promotions and assignments.
A four star general will have spent probably 10-12 years at those ranks by the time they retire from active duty at 40 years. I first heard Mark Milley speak in 2014 and he already had four stars. He wore four stars for approximately 8 years.
The three and four star Generals do comprise the promotion boards that select the one and two stars so they can (and do) cull from the herd those officers that aren't "with the program."
Consider the culling of Marine Generals that dissented from David Berger's adventures in force design. Those Generals who remain speak with one voice today and they won't discuss why the Corps can't keep a MEU on station 365 days a year or why Americans have to thumb a ride home when a coup happened in Sudan and there was no NEO force available. These are consequences of politicized leadership.
There was very definitely an ideological filter that was applied to senior leadership promotions during the Obama administration and those officers that rose to the JCS since then were the products of that process. Mission focus lapsed into DEI focus and green energy focus and unisex uniform focus other nonessential BS.

If his only qualifications was fox news host then I would be concerned. Thankfully he's a 20 year vet retired major with combat experience. Far better than the litany of beaucrats that served in this post over the years

So the current SecDef (Lloyd Austin, 4* GO who led in Iraq) must be great by your standards, right?

IMO Sec Defense needs to be someone with significant leadership and policy experience. He doesn't have it. Might have been a better fit for the VA.

Context and info on this guy?
Handsome and a ladies man but….
He actually loves America
I mean that's great and all, but can we have some more qualifications for a guy that controls the military 24/7.
21 year military officer, served in combat, infantry, double bronze star
Cool…he survived.
Chris Miller, Wilkie, Bridge Colby…all VASTLY more qualified…AND confirmable.
There's a real chance Hegseth bows out before the process even starts.
