Hopefully this will be the defeat that finally gets her to go away.
She'll just claim fraud again. Except Trump won't be there to back her up because he doesn't care as long as he won.

It took AZ this long?

Did she lose? Or did she "lose"?
She clearly "lost" as in made it more than close enough to `massage' by alienating the go-along-get-along clique so strong there. She may have objectively won, or objectively lost, but if so it was by a margin that is its own verdict on who had alienated. Its a purple state, for all intents and purposes now.
The patterns between 2020, 2022 and 2024 are very clear. Once could be an oops out of incompetence. But two more times? That's on purpose.

At the Maricopa County Counting Center, mail in ballots from Runbeck kept appearing every night post election for ten days. Each night the workers were told they were almost done only to have thousands more show up the next morning. When asked how many ballots were still outstanding, no one in charge of the counter center knew. And that would be an easy fix, just call Runbeck and ask. They had both lists, how many they sent out and how they had received back and scanned.

Yet for the next two elections, they never did that. Under Help America Vote Act, enacted in 2002 to remedy the issues in 2000, states do have to meet minimum standards to receive federal funds. Maricopa County does not meet those requirements primarily due to outsourcing to private entities with zero supervision.
Agree, but I still think AZ is acting more like a purple state. They are making such "tweaking" of the count plausible, and that's why they don't get as angry about it as if the same thing happened in Alabama.

And there was just no value to be running down McCain voters. Don't even believe in running down Center Left -- that was an extra degree of folly.

Something is off in her election. About 38,000 ballots only voted for Senator. They didn't vote for any other candidate, including President? That needs to be addressed.
And of those 38,000 do we know the split between Lake and Gallego?

Not that I'm aware of. By the way, I corrected the number. It's 31,000 votes, but there is some shady stuff going on there.

My opinion, from someone who has lived her for 23 years, the McCain machine hates her and will do anything to keep her out of office which means them voting D, which is what slimeball McStain was. So glad he's in the ground.

Lake was not a horrible candidate per se. Certainly not more horrible than the two Senators they will now have next year.

Lake was horrible in light of the AZ GOP and Independents, many of whom were connected to McCain.

Unfortunately Lake early on and often in her political career crapped on the McCain aspect of the GOP.

I despise nearly every major aspect of McCain and his legacy.

I have hopes that Trumplicanism has the impact of killing off many aspects of the McCain strands of the GOP. So far so good.

But in Arizona. Right after the man dies.

It's not smart politics to crap on McCain and his legacy.

It was not smart Politics for Trump and it was certainly not smart Politics for Lake.

It's that simple.

And yes, Arizona should be ashamed and embarrassed of their election system. It's stupid and it makes them all look stupid. Is there corruption? Maybe. Probably. But regardless, the system sucks and everyone in Arizona should be shamed into forcing their leaders to get their crap together.

What? It's totally normal to take days after an election to tally up the votes. Been that way for every election this country has ever had. Hasn't it?

And that is what is ridiculous about the whole thing. Florida seems to have no issue getting it done in a timely manner along with several other states. Why are certain states so challenged to count votes? It's really not that complicated.

Any Gallego supporters who read this and cannot absolutely refute the points in it should just keep their traps shut.

The Arizona election process stinks to high heaven, and the numbers do NOT add up.

My guess is that any request for recount and/or audit will reveal that once again, there is no mechanism to determine the origins of ballots, and that is nothing left but a stack of votes with zero ties to who cast them, when they were mailed, or where they were mailed from.

She insulted McCain supporters that make up a big portion of the Arizona GOP in a purple state.

She is a career local news personality with no real experience at anything else.

Former liberal turned Trump mouthpiece.

She is bad at the political game and doesn't have an impressive resume as a leader or policy guru.

You can make the argument that she was a better option than the liberals but she was a poor choice by the GOP.

She needs to slink away to her little public speaking gigs and grift for the rest of her "career".

Three elections in a row. DOJ, under Trump can get involved in investigating and subpoena everything, including Runbeck. Then DOJ actively monitors their elections especially in Maricopa County for the next three cycles.

Arizona definitely needs to get their **** cleaned, up but I hate the thought of having the DOJ lording over state elections. Republicans won't always be in power and can't imagine the **** that we would have seen from the DOJ this time around.

100% agree Gallego is awful too. But the fact that the AZ GOP put her up after the ass kicking from Hobbs and AZ election denials made her toxic. Also, she's a party flip flopper.
I said it in another thread but she didn't get her ass kicked by Hobbs. You can yell election denier or whatever but she was up by 11 points heading into 2022 election day against her opponent that was in charge of overseeing the votes.

Suddenly the machines weren't working on election day in the biggest county to report when Republicans notriously go to the polls on actual voting day.

But yeah, please disperse, nothing to see here. Katie Hobbs won fair and square. Give me a freaking break.

Two things make her unappealing in Arizona. First, everything about her screams fraud who doesn't have the chops for the job: Communications major who spent her entire life as a Democrat on a local news station saying things that somebody else wrote. Never expressed an important original thought, never managed or created anything complex, and donated to Obama's campaign (I believe both of them). She only pivoted and tried to become a female incarnation of Trump after she saw how successfully that attracted followers and amassed power. If you begin with the assumption that everybody in DC is a power hungry sociopath and only drop that belief after the candidate in question proves he/she is not, we're definitely still at the "Lake is a power hungry sociopath in it for herself" phase.

Second, she went out of her way to insult Republicans and independents who weren't firmly in the MAGA wing, which is really stupid strategy.

Since the Republicans have a nice majority in the senate that can absorb a defection or two in important legislation, her loss is a good thing. We can do better then vapid lifelong democrats who are too dumb to know it's bad strategy to insult people whose votes you need.

If it's that simple then plaese explain how Trump won in AZ and a Trump sycophant did not against an open borders total loser.

I can't imagine a single person going into the voting booth and smashig the Trump button but crossing over to Gallego. Afterall, I thought prominent women were taking over. Guess Arizona voters are not racists but possible mysoginists.

It's looking like Trump will win Arizona by about 5-6%. There is no reason the republicans should have lost this seat but they ran a candidate that is polarizing even amongst some in the republicans party. I think there are lots of republicans that could have won this seat. Hopefully this seat doesn't come back to bite the republicans over the next few years.

If lake wants to be in politics so bad then she should find a congress seat that has been gerrymandered so much she can't lose or a state legislature role in a red county. But she should never run for another election that will be remotely close because she will lose.

That is not unusual. There are a lot of people the presidential years just vote for president and turn in their ballot. That is a reason Texas got rid of spot on the ballot to vote straight ticket.
