Similar story here.

I have a crazy dog lady neighbor moving to Spain for the same reason. Sold 80% of her net worth for 40 cents on the dollar to do it quickly. And she has a PhD in education but is impulsive and dumber than a box of rocks in many ways.
Just because a person has a PhD doesn't mean they have any common sense.

Or skills to just live your life every day without assistance from either the government or your crazy friends.
