For those who aren't familiar with it, San Jose State University (SJSU) has a transvestite player on their team that is creating a lot of (very justifiable) controversy.

If I understand it correctly, the university didn't even warn that trans player's roommates that "she" was a he.

A number of opponents have forfeited their games with SJSU rather than expose them to potentially dangerous playing conditions.

The associate head coach, Melissa Batie-Smoose, was very much on the side of the players and attempted to stand up for the female players on the team. As a result, she has been suspended indefinitely and told not to talk about it.

From https://www.foxnews.com/sports/san-jose-states-brooke-slusser-reacts-coachs-suspension-they-took-away-only-safe-space-we-had
Quote:

The team's associate head volleyball coach, Melissa Batie-Smoose, was suspended indefinitely.

The move came days after she filed a Title IX complaint against the school, alleging Fleming conspired with an opponent to help the team lose a match and attempt to injure Slusser.

"My assistant coach spoke truth to protect my team. Then… they (suspend) her. They took away the only safe space we had in the program. Because she knew that it was right to stand up for the 18 women on the team. Not one man," Slusser wrote on X.

Slusser also filed a lawsuit against the school.

The lawsuit alleges that San Jose State had not warned any of its recruits that it had a transgender athlete on the team, even though "this was now a well-known fact to the athletic department and virtually everyone else at SJSU" when she joined the lawsuit, headed by former college swimmer and OutKick host Riley Gaines, in May.

...

Batie-Smoose said she was instructed not to speak to the media after the discipline came down.

"This is just another form of what San Jose State has been trying to do silence people that are speaking up for their First Amendment rights and for what's right," she told OutKick.

She added she wanted to "make sure I'm standing strong that only women should be in women's sports."

Five teams have forfeited their games:

Quote:

Already, four teams in the Mountain West Conferencethe University of Nevada, Reno, the University of Wyoming, Boise State University and Utah State Universityhave forfeited games against the Spartans. Separately, Southern Utah University, which is not in the MWC, forfeited its match.

And the Mountain West Conference, instead of standing up for the women on the teams, is upset at the teams who forfeited:
Quote:

Prior to the Nevada Wolf Pack's forfeiture, Mountain West Conference Commissioner Gloria Nevarez spoke out against the Spartan's opponents' decisions.

Nevarez told the Associated Press that teams willing to avoid playing SJSU are "not what we celebrate in college athletics" and added that she is heartbroken over this season's events.

"It breaks my heart because they're human beings, young people, student-athletes on both sides of this issue that are getting a lot of national negative attention," Nevarez said in an interview with The Associated Press. "It just doesn't feel right to me."

Govenors from Nevada, Idaho, Utah and Wyoming have all publicly supported the canceled games, citing that there needs to be fairness in women's sports.

I'm not sure if we can call him a trans. According to https://quillette.com/2024/11/01/college-volleyballs-spartan-meltdown/ he self identifies as a woman. He certainly doesn't appear to have had an operation and the articles don't say that he is intending or seeking to have a sex change operation. He just says "I'm a woman" and they say "Welcome to the team".

From the link above:
Quote:

Rather, Fleming is a biologically male athlete who chooses to self-identify as a woman for legal and social purposes. However, in keeping with all the other farcical aspects of this saga, SJSU athletics officials have been required to pretend that this fact is somehow less important to the volleyball community than Fleming's artistic inclinations and culinary interests.

Culinary interests? Yes. He likes to cook and likes to try out new restaurants.

More from the link:
Quote:

The pretense is rooted in the official policies of SJSU's Athletics Department, which demand that the asserted female gender identity of trans women such as Fleming be taken as trumping human biology. This explains why, when the above-described farce finally ended on 26 October, it was UNR, which fields an all-female volleyball team, that was required to forfeitand not SJSU, which doesn't.

On a side note, I wonder if this tactic might actually be able to help men in seeking employment at a company that is hiring women and minorities and avoiding white men. Could the male applicants simply say "I choose to be a woman for legal reasons" and force them to consider him? How about for college admissions at schools trying to push for diversity?

Also from the article mentioned previously at https://quillette.com/2024/11/01/college-volleyballs-spartan-meltdown/
Quote:

The second source is someone who is herein breaking her silence for the first timeMelissa Batie-Smoose, Associate Head Coach of the SJSU women's volleyball team. Given her close daily interaction with Spartan players and university administrators, there is arguably no one better placed within the program to explain the effects of Fleming's presence on the team's internal social dynamics and on-court performance.

On 29 October, Batie-Smoose filed a 33-page sworn declaration with officials at SJSU, the Mountain West Conference, and the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), exhorting these bodies to investigate (1) the overt favouritism that she believes her school has shown to Fleming, at the expense of Fleming's 18 female teammates; and (2) the unsettling measures that SJSU officials have allegedly taken in order to suppress expressions of concern from these affected women.

In both respects, Batie-Smoose alleges that the behaviour of SJSU officialsincluding her own direct boss, Spartans head coach Todd Kress, whose position on these issues has reportedly alienated him from many of his playersmay violate Title IX, the US civil-rights law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in federally funded education programs.

And a SJSU spokesman said:
Quote:

In this regard, a name that comes up often in the Title IX Complaint is Laura Alexander, an Assistant Director of Student Wellness at SJSU with jurisdiction over the school's volleyball program. According to Batie-Smoose, Kress told her that Alexander had said anyone opposed to Fleming's inclusion on the women's team should leave SJSU and seek "therapy."

Also, since Blaire is a male, not a female, they are bending over to be nice to him (no pun intended):
Quote:

Batie-Smoose reports that Kress began bending over backwards to accommodate Fleming, who reportedly often took liberties with the team's dress code and practice schedule, as well as the baseline behavioural standards that Kress applied to the rest of the team. This claimed double standard is one of the major themes of Batie-Smoose's Complaint.

...

In one detailed case study she puts forward, Batie-Smoose contrasts the allegedly lax treatment afforded to Fleming with the far stricter standards imposed on a promising female recruit who was competing for Fleming's position. Kress allegedly refused to renew the recruit's scholarship. Being unable to pay her tuition out of pocket, the recruit was effectively pushed out of the program, and now plays in another state.

And the head coach, Kress, is taking it all very personal. I guess he likes having a "winning" team. even if it little more than hollow victories.
Quote:

Many Spartans players have reportedly been skipping practices as a means to avoid Kress's hectoring, as well as the unpleasant atmosphere that pervades team meet-ups more generally. In normal circumstances, a player who repeatedly skips practices without a valid excuse typically finds herself benched or even thrown off the roster entirely. But Kress, Batie-Smoose reports, "has completely lost control of his team," and is no longer capable of enforcing team rules in any effective or systematic way.

Also, the female players are getting heckled by their profs and fellow students:
Quote:

In one episode described to Quillette, for instance, a team member reportedly suffered a panic attack in class after she was identified as a member of the women's volleyball team by her professor. He then proceeded to play a TikTok video related to the controversy, at which point the player's classmates piled on with questions about her alleged failure to support Fleming's inclusionat which point she fled the classroom.

Everyone ought to read that entire article. It goes on into a match in which he appeared to be leaving a lane open for the opposing team to target the setter, Slusser, on the SJSU team.

Everything about that player and his supporters is just plain rotten.

Would also appreciate thread consolidation across the site, however, Texags shoots itself in the foot with this by having a basically unusable search bar. I don't think this one is egregious.

Back to the topic at hand, does anyone think the pressure eventually gets to SJSU?

Things have gone well past what was discussed in that thread.

I agree. The previous thread was more about the other teams that are forfeiting.

There is a lot more internal drama on the SJ team. The captain has been vocal about not wanting this male player on the team and how the school admin has treated the girls on the team.

I have always thought someone should file a Title IX discrimination lawsuit against SJSU and MWC. It would accomplish two things: expose the idiocy of SJSU and MWC, and bring to light how much abuse of the system there has been in the name of Title IX.

This is the real war on women. The fact that leftists have whole heartedly embraced these mentally ill men at the expense of real women is disgusting. The fact that real women embrace it is evidence of how destructive the woke mind virus is. Women are literally choosing a position that's bad for women. Thats pretty much the definition of self loathing.
A fearful society is a compliant society. That's why Democrats and criminals prefer their victims to be unarmed. Gun Control is not about guns, it's about control.

Other schools should reach out to offer scholarships for any current women players on scholarship there that want to tranfer. I really feel bad for the girls stuck there.

My impression is Title IX has amended/twisted/executive-ordered to protect trans athletes at the expense of biological females.

Schools won't do it, but there needs to be one that will field a "b" team that has zero biological females specifically against any team that does this.

Megyn Kelly interviewed the young lady that was roommates with the fella. She was a transfer student and had NO idea at the time she was being moved in with a male. She's had since joined the Title IX lawsuit.

The interview was in October 13, Episode 915. 45 minutes long. No link, use your podcast player of choice. Or find it on YouTube.

This article is the most indepth coverage. Sjsu coach is a *****. The trans player is the boss. Does what he wants, comes and goes as he pleases and the coach doesn't do or say anything. The captain stopped coming to practice because of the coach's behavior.

The trans kid even teamed up with an opponent and targeted the captain.

The captain was called out by a professor in class and essentially bullied by the prof and her fellow students.

The title 9 officer came down and gave a long presentation why men claiming to be women are title 9 protected.

And yes, the coach filed a title 9 complaint against his own team captain

Quote:

Batie-Smoose reports that Kress told her he's brought forward at least one Title IX complaint against Slusser with school administrators, on the basis that Slusser referred to Fleming in the media with masculine pronounsa practice that Kress describes as a threat to the rights of trans women.

This **** needs to end. Sjsu players need to walk off the court. Leave the dude and coach to playy on their own

The teammates are not refusing. They are only complaining. The transvestite has a full ride scholarship endorsed by the university and the head coach. The head coach, a beta male lgbtq+ ally, is behind the drama and is actively running off the assistant coach and is considering pulling the scholarship of the team captain and kicking her off the team.

An upcoming opponent needs to swap in their entire men's volleyball team (D1 or club) for the women's team for that game.

And hit every ball at the kid. A few strays in warmups directed at the coach too.

Bet that would stop.

There is one fact of this whole saga that just dawned on me.

You'd think a transgender athlete would join a woman's sports team by court action. I'm a real female, I tried out for the volleyball team, and I performed better than any of the other women. If you don't let me on the team, I'm going to sue.

But none of that happened here. The Quilette news story mentioned that the fired assistant coach was not involved in recruiting the transgender athlete. The transgender athlete was recruited. That means either the school administration and the coach staff did not realize the athlete was in fact a man (unlikely), or they deliberately recruited a transgender athlete to the detriment of the other players on the team.

The simple fact that they continue to call this person a "trans" instead of a woman should disqualify this person from the women's team.

Or it could be a turning point. I had figured that within ten years or so, beauty pageants would be almost exclusively transgender. The same could happen with college women's athletics, though I'm not sure how much NIL money it would create.

NIL money is about popularity and performance.

It will absolutely NOT prop up the bad behavior. Barely anyone who donates money to sports is in favor of this farce. AKA the free market will help win this.

If this is how she's behaving she needs to go, and the coach needs to do his job and be a leader by enforcing team rules. Aside from the hateful rhetoric in this thread, that's the real problem here.

Do your research. Better yet, read the thread. The coach wants to strip the captain of her scholarship and kick her off the team because the male coach prefers having the transvestite (cross dresser) on the team.
