When I worked for the State of Texas in the mid-1990s, the only full day training we got was sexual harassment.

Funnily enough the only sexual harassment I ever received at that job was from a gay dude (an Aggie Wrangler no less).

That scenario wasn't covered in the course.

I work with a bunch of DEMs in Phoenix. I avoid talking politics at work at all costs, but get earfulls from them all around all the time. I know they have to know I'm Republican. They know I grew up on a ranch in the middle of nowhere in West Texas, and they know I like to hunt and fish, and they know I drive a big arse diesel truck that's tuned and rolls coal. They know my kids participate in rodeos, and that I own a small ranch here in AZ...These should all be clues. You are right though, the presumptuousness that I want to hear all of their crap.

Sometimes, I think they say the stuff they say around me to try to get a rise out of me, and it really pisses them off when I won't take the bait. I don't care about there feels. They certainly don't care about mine.

Circa 2005, I had a lesbian co-worker who won a cruise out of Galveston and she knew I was from Texas. She came over to my cube to ask me if there was any other airport she could fly into in Houston besides "Bush".

She said, I know it's named for his father but I hate these people.

I told her about Hobby but that she'd probably have to fly Southwest out of Ontario.

It's funny when the principled folks don't want to be inconvenienced by cattle call boarding.

I told her that I still call IAH - "Intercontinental" because that's what we've been calling it since I was a little kid. She decided that was OK.

Bonus story - I noticed the strong resemblance between her children and a Guatemalan co-worker of mine and I came to find out that the reason was because he was the sperm donor.

Now extra bonus, Guatemalan guy was adopted by a Scottish-American family and he would attend Scottish heritage events wearing a kilt.

That's the LA I used to enjoy. It does not exist anymore.

I have posted this before, but here goes again for crazy ...


Ran into a previous coworker in late 2017. Unknown to me, I ask how he was and he mentioned that he had just finalized his divorce. His wife went off the rails after the election so fast that the divorce was final within six months.

She quit her job that paid over 200k per year. Tried to have her ex-husband (my buddy) arrested for abuse...when the police showed up she claim that he was emotionally abusing her by being a man. Moved in with a group of other women struggling to get by. Started wearing the p*55y hat at rallies. Fast forward to 2020 when i saw him again. She has gone from clean cut to buzz cut with completely tattooed body. Gained 50 pounds. Has no job and begging her ex and her parents for money.

The father in law still keeps in touch with him and has apologized to him many times about his daughter.


The irony, my buddy was a liberal and voted for Clinton just like his wife. In 2024, he is a proud conservative with a wife and two children.
