It was a bad night for Trump.

It was bad in the sense that he should have wiped the floor with her. Overall nothing new came out. Harris did do a much better job than I thought she was capable of, regardless of the clear bias by the moderators.

But if this decides the election, it's trumps own fault. He should have easily been able to make her look stupid but he failed miserably.
Well, Harris never got put on the spot by them. They softballed her all night long while throwing Nolan Ryan fastballs at Trump's head with all their fact checking.

I'm not a Trump fan but that was ****ing embarrassing for ABC how biased they were.

One big point that stuck out to me.

Trump mentioned people eating pets, etc.

Muir immediately "fact checked" by saying "since you brought up Springfield, Ohio, blah blah blah".

Except Trump did NOT bring up Springfield, Ohio. He just mentioned people eating pets.

So, that was already a planned attack on Trump.

He did bring up Springfield actually, just to correct this. The quote was "In Springfield, they're eating the dogs... The people that came in... They're eating the cats - they're eating the pets of the people that live there."

I just don't understand how Trump who was rambling as he's wont to do couldn't manage to throw in his coalition of people like Elon Musk, RFK Jr, Tulsi Gabbard, etc. versus Harris' coalition of Liz and Dick Cheney and Vladimir Putin and then riff on that.

It's the easiest line ever and provides the starkest contrast of all time. Sigh.
it's simple and completely predictable

how do I know?

because everyone that voted DeSantis and Haley stated this exact scenario would be taking place.

over and over

why are you stating you can't understand it?

because Trump has NEVER been very good at debating, and certainly never good at explaining policy or defending his own statements.

because he is too lazy and undisciplined to put in the effort and the hard work.

I listed four fatal mistakes made months ago. this was one of them.
I disagree. It was only two months ago when he pulled off a Mortal Kombat fatality on the sitting President's 50 year career in politics.

Also, we know you think Haley and DeSantis would have beat Kamala in a debate. It's only been stated at least 1,000 times by you.

Vance is so much better. Simplify the debate.

"what is your stance on fracking then kamala? Do you support the keystone pipeline? Yes or no?"

This is how you dismantle a dem in a debate.

The problem is the fact check was wrong. There's video out there of them eating a cat. The fact check was also wrong on Trumps statement about kids born after a failed abortion attempt.

The biggest thing that bothers me is that the Dems are trying to blame the current immigration, money, war, race divide and other crisis's on trump, despite them being in charge for the last 3.5 years and 12 of the last 16. It's crazy that this effort is apparently working to some degree.

And he was very ineffective in sticking that back on them. Because he took her petty bait instead. He muddied the water instead of lobbing the grenade right back at her clearly.
By bait, I presume you are referring to her "people leave your rallies early" taunt.
And yeah, I too thought he should have just said "that's silly" and proceeded with facts.

IMHO, his worst lie was claiming he handled COVID well, and hers was claiming that she will be able to do anything about how the states set abortion policy in each state. He was right to point out that she is making lots of claims that she has no history of successfully doing.

Kamala: what would you do to get out of Ukraine

Trump: I would not have sent Kamala to negotiate. 3 days later Russia invaded

Moderator: Kamala can you confirm that Trump is lying and that you have never met his BFF Putin

Or was it Kim Jon Un that is his bestie?

Kamala: no I'm really asking. What would you do. I need a policy

Moderators should have killed the abortion talk much sooner. Trump made it clear that it is no longer a presidential issue due to the supreme court ruling and they did not force Kamala to give a straight answer. Moderators were fishing for sound bites.

Yes. That was one of them. She baited him multiple times. And then it gets him off track defending himself nonstop vs pressing against her. And when he defends himself HE RAMBLES. that's that worst part. Republicans and Trump supporters will hear it and not understand how bad it sounds. But others hear it and cringe. When he finally comes out of his triggered daze he then attacks her on random things. It just doesn't come off as coherent.

Trump could have shut the abortion discussion down immediately.

"It went to the Supreme Court who decided it is a state rights issue. I believe in our Constitution and state rights. (Look straight at Kamala) Do you agree in our Constituion, State Rights, and the will of the voters?"

Then don't answer another stupid question about it.

Last one from me tonight. When they kept asking Trump his exact plan for insurance and he was like I have ideas but I'm not president then they made him double down to get their sound bite. Push Kamala half that hard and she will just cackle.

Suburban women are going to be what wins this thing.

They are ready to see one thing- which is "it's not gonna be what it was the last time."

And he showed that he couldn't maintain his composure for 15 minutes.

And yes, most of them are going to see it through sort of social media. The base is set. Stop chasing that.

Just stop giving the moms who are ready for some changes a reason to say "nope, I didn't like it the last time and I'm worried about it again, and so I'd just rather deal with no substance."

Trump was Bravado. Harris, the Dem selection, was emotional feels.

The same 8-10 or 12 areas within certain states will decide this election. If these voters elect Comma-la based upon emotion after this dreadfully embarrasing Obiden term, we'll have to ride the struggle bus and suffer again.

I initially wondered why Trump would make the focus of his closing statement, "Why hasn't she done it for the past 3.5 years?" when the question is so easily rebutted with, "Dude, she's been VICE president."

I assumed most Americans understand that the vice president does not hold that kind of power, but after reading some comments on here, it appears that was a wrong assumption.

It just seems foolish to base your closing statement on something easily countered.

Kamala is running away from her record. His favorite line was "I was gonna mail her a MAGA hat."

She's done just one interview. She's going back to the basement.

No fact checking or corrections by ABC.

She's running a campaign based on vibes. She is a total disaster.

I really want to see the Vance vs Walz debate.

Black and hispanic support are going to win this election. If he gets anywhere from 12-15% black and 40% hispanic support, he will win a second term. He is on pace for both of these statistics.

Do we think Trumps team gives him accurate information and he doesn't use it or they shield him from facts and inadvertently sent him out to step on a rake?

He's claiming his team has shown him polls saying he won the debate. Seems like typical Trump bravado, but dunno.

Unfortunately, I think you're right, but it was disappointing to read comments on here from people who thought it was a great closing.

Kamala probably can't rebut that directly, because she would effectively be downplaying her own role as VP, but her campaign, PACs, etc, can do thst more tactfully, and will. It's easy.

I disagree. Trump needs people to see she was as much a part of the current disaster as Biden. She's trying to run from her own administration. Why? Because it's a failure and her team knows it. Painting her as Biden 2.0 is effective.
