Another aspect. Future venues don't like incurring additional costs for security due to idiots. (A bit of hyperbole in the post)

I don't really see a reason to **** on Jack Black over this. I have no doubt he is a raging liberal, but he didn't say it and condemned it and canceled his tour over it. Obviously he wasn't expecting it to be said, didn't want it to be said, and did not go along with it or indulge it when it was said. Honestly it seems like canceling the rest of his tour was going a little far, but if he takes it that seriously, good for him.
This.
LOL, ok

My hot take is he's trash for throwing his friend under the bus for making an edgy, ill advised joke and his response should have been an apology, an acknowledgement of it being wrong, maintain the tour, and maintain his friendship and working relationship with a person he's been associated with for decades. As it stands he's a disloyal *****. Unless there's video of him calling him out in the moment or walking off stage this is just damage control.

Let me explain to people who have never worked a concert venue before….

After Jack Black & his band Tenacious D celebrated the near assassination of Trump on Saturday they got about 10,000 calls and texts from all the concert venues they'd booked canceling their reservations. You see these places have to carry insurance to cover any mass casualty event. Some places it's literally the law they have to have a certain level of coverage.

Y'all all saw his get up and stand up routine at the Biden fundraiser a few weeks back.

Well yesterday, during a Tenacious D show in Australia, he presented his band mate Kyle Gass with a birthday cake and asked him to make a wish. Gass's response was vile: "Don't miss Trump next time".

Apparently JB has now apologized and cancelled the remainder of the tour stating

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Is he in full damage control mode or he legit pissed at KG? I hate his politics but he's always seemed likeable enough to me. I hope he's being earnest and parts ways with his despicable partner.
He has been working with Tenacious D for years. I'm sure that he knows, and agrees, with his politics. Black wasn't 'blindsided' by what Glass said. He was surprised by the number of his customers who didn't agree with it.

He is an insane liberal, and therefore, a liar. Don't be sucked in to his earnest apology act. He just wants you to stop being pissed off and buy his stuff.

You know, it's okay for people to disagree politically. As far as what Jack Black himself did, this is about a much as you can expect in terms of contrition.

We can never know what's truly in someone's heart, but If everyone handled things like this the way Jack Black did here, we'd be a lot better off as a society.

We need to be able to say something stupid, let alone be associated with someone who said something stupid, and give a (seemingly) sincere apology and then have everyone move on.

The part that speaks loudest to me is "all future plans are on hold."
That doesn't sound like a guy who's just reacting to backlash. Seems he's legit pissed at KG. I hope so.
That sounds exactly like a good PR person managing his client's stupidity.

"On hold" can mean anything. Those plans can be shelved and never see the light of day or they can be reinstated tomorrow due to the "outpouring of support and forgiveness from, not just my fans, but everybody! F Trump!"

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see some post by a critically ill child saying that his final wish is to see Jack Black with Tenacious D in concert and starting a petition to have Tenacious D restart the tour.

If Black was pissed at Glass, he would leave the tour and band permanently. As it stands now, Black and Glass are just taking a holiday for a couple of days.
Shoefly!

JB shouldn't be the one who apologized, it should be the guy who said it.

If JB severs the relationship, then he deserves kudos.

To me, it's indicative that he and his band mate/best friend talk like this behind the scenes. You can't convince me they don't. It would be like your best friend yelling out "n-er" in a crowd and you acting shocked like you've never heard or engaged in that type of language before.

Liberals lie. All the time. They have no God, so it's ok for them. This is damage control...although he's probably mad that his buddy said something he agreed with (that is highly inappropriate) outloud.

Yep, they got blown the F up for hours and hours on Instagram and other social media and only then did they think they should scurry into damage control/apology mode.

These celebs are so influenced and conditioned by their warped, out of touch, self-reinforcing bubbles that they don't realize there are TONS of people who don't think like them.

To think it's ok to joke about such a thing in front of a crowd says a lot about both guys. These dudes are besties. You can't tell me Jack Black wouldn't have laughed at that or approved if joke was made in private, or around other like minded psychos.

Also, you NEVER see this type of sh** from conservatives. But you see it all the time from celebs. There are compilation videos out there minutes long of celebs calling for the death of Donaltd Trump, or violence against him. This was all pre-assasination attempt of course.

can we add Harry's Banana Farm in Florida to the cancel list? This was the sign they put up after the shooting.

In 2016, this was a sign they put up

And then after the recent SC ruling ,they put this up

After they have gotten a lot of negative reviews on Yelp (Yelp shut off reviews), they put up this sign

Lots of evil in the world.

This. He didn't say it. Initially, I thought it was him, but it wasn't. Not many Democrats take responsibility for their actions so this is positive thing.

In further reading sounds like they got mostly canceled.

Both statements were posted at the same time? You know that the PR dude had Black and Glass siting like in the meeting like errant schoolboys, giving them specific directions.

If it was a movie, this could be how the script would go:
PR: You two really effed up. Now me and my team have to un-eff this up. Give me your phones.
Black and Glass: Why? You hate Trump too. Freedom of speech, buddy! Eff anybody who doesn't agree with it!
PR: Those people you want to eff because they don't agree with you pay you money.
Black and Glass: Well, when you put it that way.... Here are the phones.
PR: (Hands phones to assistants) Type in those instagram posts we drafted. Let me see them before you post them. I don't care how disappointed we are in somebody's marksmanship, we won't have another screw up.
Assistants: (Types and hands phones back to PR) Here, boss.
PR: (Reads posts) Ok. Now we post them and turn off the comments.
Black and Glass: Can we have our phones back?
PR: No. No phones. No computers. No going out. You two need to learn to shut your mouths. Stay in your rooms. We have extra beer and booze being stocked right now.
Black and Glass: Come on! We're adults! You can't do that!
PR: You're my cash cows. You will do whatever I say. Now, go back to your rooms and drink. If you're good, I'll get you some of the local talent.
Black and Glass slink out of the room while grumbling under their breath.

This.

It's really not even that hard. Up until about 10 years ago you would occasionally hear a few of them be activist but now they all can't keep their ******* mouth shut. Just shut up and sing, just shut up and act, shut up and play ball. Whatever your schtick is. Yes they're allowed to have opinions as Americans and yes, they're allowed to say them but all they're doing is alienating people from their entertainment.

Trump broke these people. They are just delusional in their hatred for him. And most of the things they claim they hate about him aren't even true. Hell Biden lied at least four times in that interview last night. About Charlottesville comment, about the bloodbath comment, about Trump wanting to be a dictator on and on. Lester Holt just sat there and didn't refute him.

Anyway, I'm getting off-topic but I agree with your sentiment. Quit bringing politics into every ****ing thing.

Probably a big reason why so many in the entertainment industry are going about their week as if nothing happened.

Sure, some of them are true believers that hate Trump and don't care...but I think there are a quite a few entertainers with hearts who actually have a big problem with what happened - but their record company or studio are owned by leftists who don't want them saying anything remotely center or right-of-center on anything. Many of these people have to be silent in order to keep their careers. That's how the entertainment industry is today... you become them or you shut up to go along unless you've built such a massive following from a long career that you say whatever you want - but that's mostly from the long-time established ones.

If you want people to lie to you to make you feel better then by all means cheer what Jack Black is doing. You're just not living in reality. He's not saying what he's saying because he believes it, he's doing it because his PR team is telling him to. It's why his apology was posted days after Gass said it rather than right afterwards. It's why he didn't stop the show when he said it. There's no video that I've seen of him criticizing the statement. He's taking what was part of his show, ignored during the show, and trying to retrofit his disapproval so you think "Good guy Jack Black, bad guy Kyle Gass" rather than bad guy both of them.

You have people on this thread believing the apology. They are naive/easily manipulated.

They are both two evil hate filled liberal psycho peas in a pod and should be ride or die for each other.

I would have far more respect if JB came out and said, "me and KG joke like this all the time, we absolutely hate Trump and are in a war for our democracy, F the haters". Would at least be honest, as detestable as they both are.
