If it shows there and is required to fill in the form, it is absolutely captured. To achieve some degree of true anonymity, I would recommend them using Qualtrics...while it does capture IP and geo-location it is certainly less identifying. It may be turned off, but I'd want proof of capture was not enabled if I cared to be anon.

Neither ill-will or incompetence would surprise me at this point...

The optics of it are pretty bad either way.

I haven't really paid attention to the Corps since they dispersed our senior class around the different outfits in '04 and then found out it ended up being some integrated wag, frog outfit. Not surprised where this crap has went over the years.

Apparently, the current corps commander is a female frog. Not just a frog, but one who frogged in as a JUNIOR. She must have checked ALL the woke boxes.

What outfit were you in? Are you talking about SQ 18?

K-1 was still old army during my time. My senior year, they ran off all the fish though. They integrated it pretty quickly after that.

Heh - junior frog. That's like having your cake and eating too.

How the hell do you frog in as a Butt? I had to ground Pennies on my monster shelves and piss in the sink while taking hover dumps for losing our toilet seat privileges and this chick gets to waltz in as a white belt with tv and sloppy tuck?

I ended up in A1 my senior year and sorta ghosted. Kind of an anti-climatic end to an unique experience. The memories have faded but every so often it's fun to reminisce.

If they are allowing junior frogs then at this point they might as well let folks experience the corps for 2 weeks and go ahead and hand out rings and boots. Nobody wants to earn it anymore.

But, there are a ton of kids that want to earn it. It's the trigon that makes the idiotic rules and take all the meaning away.

I know. I'm just struggling right now because my senior in high school was gung ho about joining next year. Everything I hear about this Commandant is making me want to advise him against joining. My son definitely wants the full experience.

Graduating in 3 months Senior?

Take a gap year, travel the world and come back after the dust has settled. These kids are going to live to be 100 years old so burning a year won't be that big of a deal in the long run.

Also apply to Virginia Tech and VMI in the meantime as a backup plan.

Or... check out Texas A&M Galveston's Corps of Cadets.

Galveston Corps isn't remotely like this one, my eldest is there. Virtually all of those folks are going for their Deck Officer or Engineer License working on Boats with a few NROTC guys thrown in. Not any D&C. Everything is centered around that. It's about professional training not on the same type of leadership training as CS but they do some really cool stuff like go to Firefighter school, do Lifeboat Training, spend the Summer on Training Cruises, etc. Freshman really only have Orientation Week that looks anything like the Corps in CS and while they have CQ they have few restrictions beyond a haircut. There is no real distinction in classes above and you often have Juniors that are Commanders, it's just different. Great career but if you don't want to work on boats it's not the way to go.

If your son or daughter wants to make some serious money after graduation and likes the idea though it's great, happy to talk with anyone who is interested. My son loves it.

I knew it was a thing, but never heard of any that actually did it. I imagined it was reserved for very specific circumstances such as prior enlisted going into the Day Duck company (V-1?) if they had enough credits.

Bio on CoC website says she transferred from Coast Guard Academy during her sophomore year to D-1, was then Corps SGM and now CC. Talk about a meteoric rise.

Not to nitpick the previous posters but that's a very different vibe than someone jumping in during their junior year and becoming CoC.

Actually it sounds worse, a CG academy drop out is the best cadet we have in the entire Cadet Corps?

So because she transferred she's a dropout? There could have been any number of reasons the move made sense for her and for both groups.

And I'm not sure that at any point in my four years in the Corps was the CoC the "best cadet". The commander may have been the best interviewer, or the best that applied for the position, but highly unlikely they were the best cadet out of their entire class.

I'm not trying to disparage her, she has a USMC plc contract so she is probably an exemplary cadet. However that doesn't change that from a perception standpoint, she did resign from the CG academy and in only 1 year as an underclassman she then became the highest ranking jr in the Corps. Then during the year the Corps Commander is a cadet from a non traditional corps background, the commandant wants to uproot the traditional corps experience. From the outside looking in this would tell me that the current leadership does not respect the current corps experience and that only adds to the discontent.

That's fair. If I'm not mistaken there have been a couple of other people that have frogged in and become CoC in the past. So if that's the case, and there's no rule against it, should a frog be blocked from being the Corps Commander? Or should the best candidate get the slot? If frogs are allowed should the decision makers be fine with someone that was a non-reg for a year but have a beef with the person that transferred from one of the academies? She was accepted into one of the academies (same application requirement as USMA, Annapolis, etc I believe), for some reason her career path changed (maybe academic options, maybe she wanted Navy/Marine instead of Coast Guard, maybe she didn't like the uniforms…who knows), and she landed in our organization, which many of us selfishly feel is a better leadership lab than the academies. Maybe brass showed bias towards her or maybe she's just a bada**, who knows…

But that career path (year at a service academy, transfer and frog in) has a massively different connotation than the comments above just saying "she frogged in as a junior and voila she's Corps Commander".

It's not about figuring it out. It's about effectively communicating.

Your post clearly reads as you suggesting that she may have actually been a good interviewer or best that applied for the position. If that is not your intended meaning, then you should reword your post to align with your actual meaning.

Yeah V-1 doesn't count, no one is going to make a 30 something prior E-6 with wife and kids whip out to a 19 year old RPTS major.
