Any city? ANY city? No need for hyperbolic sycophantic banter. I appreciate the bold interview so we can get insight into Putin but you don't have to go that far.

Tucker is a believer in a sort of populist authoritarian nationalism insofar as it keeps things neat and orderly and the trains run on time and the people's need are met so he can sort of admire the ability of a strong man to do that sort of thing.

I think it sort of glosses over the cultural elements involved and that Moscow is still the showpiece of Russia, and is not permitted to be disorderly by the authorities. How they do that out of sight isn't always so pleasant or civil.

I mean. It's an opinion, so maybe don't put more than two cents into it.

But have you asked yourself, what if he's right and our big cities are run by people with an obviously failed ideology that is a cancer to our society? Why do so many people suffer in big cities? What if we had a way to convince people that the cities they are in are not run adequately and there needs to be a change in ideology to make it better?

Hypothetical: would you feel safer walking around Moscow at night (you look like yourself, but nobody knows you're an American) or say the west side or south side of Chicago at night (you look just like yourself)?

I'm going with the unknown of Moscow because what will happen in Chi-Town is a given.

I've seen many cities around the world that fit what Tucket is saying, I'm sure many Americans have. And for the cast majority of people, we then come back and prefer living in the U.S. over any of those.

It amazes me how many people that love to tear down America constantly then get super defensive when someone points out the obvious. Tucker isn't saying he likes Putin or would want to live in Russia. He's just stating facts. Critical thinking seems to be lost on so many.

Kind of like the Zeihan video where he calls Tucker "Putin's Puppet" and rails on him but never actually talks about the interview. Instead he just starts talking about the status of the war. The irony is Zeihan actually agrees with much of what Tucker says about Russia, he just says it in a different way. For instance most people don't understand the history on Russia and why they feel threatened. They just assume Putin is invading Ukraine in some play for world dominance or some other stupidity.

I'm no lover of Russia, but what he said is correct based on all I saw there in 2018. And we all commented on it at the time. But you know what? So is Zagreb in Croatia and other cities that have maintained their demographic integrity. In other words, some countries' cities aren't their dumping grounds like in the US and England and France. In Zagreb there were groups of 3 or 4 9 year old girls running around without parents at the city square at night like we used to do at our local mall.

I agree. The Eastern European countries I've visited had amazing countryside and incredibly beautiful cities. None of which were "better" than any piece of soil in the US.

Besides Moscow, Tucker also mentioned Singapore, Tokyo, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi - all cities I've been to. and in contrast, he mentioned New York, Paris, and London - and I think Chicago - also all cities I've been to. and Tucker is not wrong.

I went to Google Maps, and dropped a the street view in a random place and viola, I got crumbling buildings, one visible broken window immediately, graffiti on buildings, and a street scape that looks like virtually every dense city core I've ever been to in the United States.

Being a tourist gives you an unrealistic impression of pretty much every place, especially those places that cultivate their appearance carefully.

Every major city in the US that I can think of is clearly on the decline, turning into a cesspool over time, some quicker than others. Not sure if Moscow is nicer or not, but our cities are a disgrace.

That's certainly true to a degree, but usually I travel to the more exotic places with a group of around 30-40 and within that there are 3 of us close friends that go off on our own on these trips at night. No guard rails. We've Ubered at will all over Cairo, Moscow, St Petersburg, Zagreb, Cologne, Paris, etc. and sure, every city has good and bad areas, but the bottom line is that the public spaces are dramatically different in some cities vs the west. Train and bus stations, city squares, subways, government districts etc, I never felt any discomfort in many of those cities like I do in downtown Dallas at night. I can't imagine Chicago or Philadelphia or others here.

I wouldn't doubt the public areas are much nicer than US cities. But you know what's nicer in the US? Our homes and everything in them. There is no way their standard of living is higher than ours as far as personal wealth goes.

There are nice parts of American cities but the reality is that we are coasting in comparison to what they were in the 1950s.

You used to be able to walk around them at night but I can't think of any major American city where I would do this, even carrying weapons.

This is what homogeneity gets you. It's what we had prior to 1960.

I imagine you'd feel a little differently if you were female roaming the city at night in Cairo.

You're very right, it's not. I don't think anyone was trying to argue that the other places are better in every way. I much prefer many aspects here. But the statement Tucker made is 100% accurate in my experience, and apparently with others here too.

Well I have been to pretty much every big city in the lower 48 and they are all unlivable garbage pits, run by leftist dims who are more Marxist than Putin.

And I've also been to big cities in other countries, including some "developing" countries, that seemed cleaner and safer than our dim run garbage pits.

It's hard to compare cities with different historical ages. Much of America arose as utilitarian boomtowns during the Industrial Revolution, as opposed to Moscow which is 1,000 years old. That being said, there's no excuse for the filth and homelessness that we allow. Most American cities will never achieve the historical beauty of old European polities, but it is inexcusable for our major cities to be run into the ground the way the Democrats have done for the past 70 years.
