Kidding. The best thing we can do is pray and be the light to those around us. God is in control.
Same here. He is indeed in control.

It seems a lot of people forgot that DeSantis barely beat a crackhead by 30K votes, and only after Trump went in and bailed him out. DeSantis is a colorless technocrat - he can do great things if he ever gets in, but when compared with Trump's carnival barker persona (and I voted for Trump twice and will again), he comes off much the worse for wear.

And maga will lap it up because of their religious/cult-like devotion to the man. Trump is many things, but getting people to give him money for things they don't need is one of them, kinda like the Jerry Olsteens of the world.

Meh. Don Jr. doesn't have the same panache as his father. Nor does he have as much experience.

If he's really serious, he needs to run for something else first, Congress, Governor, etc.

Which is still better than Trump has done. Trump still has never broken 47% in a general election.

In 2018 there was a huge anti-Republican turnout because of Trump. Also, Florida's election were still **** and corrupt. DeSantis was running against Florida's version of Obama, and no one knew of his after hours activities at that time.

The "Trump saved DeSantis" is just a myth created by Trump so he could demand fealty for life from DeSantis.

Because all of Biden's "experience in government" and "leadership and management" is working out swimmingly.

I'm no Trump fan but some of you progressives are out of your damn minds.

Your posts are divisive and do nothing but hinder the GOP.

If that's your goal, then carry on. Otherwise, please reflect on it because I don't see hardly anyone touting DJT jr as a good option going forward.

I want to hear some policy ideas from the man.

He started the inflationary spending that Biden has recklessly continued (albeit at a lower rate). I want to hear what his plans are for the budget. I want him to explain how he is going to do all these things that you are inferring he will accomplish, because until he blew up the budget in 2020 & 2021, the stock market, unemployment and gas prices were all basically following trends that were established in the prior administration.

What are his plans for the budget? How much is he planning on spending annually? What is he going to do regarding entitlements (social security, Medicare and Medicaid)? Neither he nor his campaign website offer anything approaching a hint of an idea.

Because of Trump's stupidity and the compounding stupidity of the Biden administration the country he would be taking over is not the same one he took over in 2017. Does he realize this? Does he have any notion of how to address this? "It's going to be the best" is not a plan.

"This is what he did last time" doesn't tell me sh/t about what he plans to do now, particularly since he has run off most of the people in his administration that helped to achieve his accomplishments in his prior administration.

DeSantis misread the room.

He underestimated the power the power of incumbency. And make no mistake about it, Trump for all practical purposes was an incumbent president. This was a fatal strategic error.
I think that's the heart of it. To most GOP voters who supported the majority of Trump's policies and do not trust the insiders of both parties, Trump is still the incumbent for them in this election. That's a tough image to shake, especially when Trump is the center of the focus from both parties and the media.

I would prefer DeSantis, and wish he had been the frontrunner. But that wasn't going to happen the minute Trump announced he was running again. He and Trump were essentially targeting the same voters. The establishment wing of the party who always want the 'fatherly' statesmen figure weren't going to embrace DeSantis.

Also the timing given the gubernatorial election. He wins in November 2022 and then turns around and declares for the Presidency? Some voters might have felt duped by that, perhaps?

Yes, DeSantis probably has a larger victory in 2018 without the endorsement.

Look at the the FL HD-35 special election yesterday. It's a D+2 seat. Biden won by 5 and DeSantis by 11. GOP turned out more than the Dems, but NPA voted for the Dem at a 70% rate. She ran on Trump and pushed DeSantis away.

Fact is that DeSantis was most popular before anyone had actually seen or heard from him. The more people got to know him the less they liked him. His legend was greater than him. "Has any good thing from Florida?" I think it says that in the Bible.

I understand the DeSantis was considered aloof and unfriendly when in Congress. No personal touch, no warmth, no collegiality. He's a driven man. But he's not the kind of man that can make you think you'd like to spend any time with him. His campaign couldn't even teach him how to smile.

Wow. You crammed so many untruths into two paragraphs, it's head-spinning.

Congrats!

ETA: But portions of it do ring true...

Fact is that Biden was most popular before anyone had actually seen or heard from him. The more people got to know him the less they liked him. His legend was greater than him. "Thou shalt not covet" I think it says that in the Bible.

I understand that Biden was considered a goof and incapable when in Congress. No personal touch, no warmth, fake collegiality. He's a man driven by money and women. But he's not the kind of man that can make you think you'd like to spend any time with him. His campaign couldn't even teach him how to stay away from young children.

Everything I said was true, as I heard it. IIRC, a GOP congressman on a same committee as ol' pudding fingers said that Ron never once said hello to him or acknowledged him in anyway during the time they served together. Referring to how impersonal he was.

Yet here we are on F16 with DeSantis supporters talking about his great charisma, LOL. Zero counties won in Iowa. I guess Iowans can't see great charisma when it visits each county 3 times.
