If I really wanted to cosplay hard at the next comicon, I will dress up as Master Chief and drive up in a Tesla truck.

Saw one last week on 620 west of Austin. Thought it might be Elon, but it wasn't. Young guy driving with another mid-30s guy in the passenger seat. I'm in a Camry and it's quite a bit higher up - more than I expected. Was surprised that there were no markings at all on the vehicle. No Tesla decal in the back or what would serve as the grille. It was wide like a Hummer as well.

And yes, it did look kinda stupid. Not something that made me go "Wow! Gotta have one of those!"

So are ICE vehicles since 40% of golf carts are internal combustion.

I have an order for a Cyber Truck. If they can get it painted, would be great.

I have a boat, I haul things around to my rentals which I have done with my Model Y. Alittle tight, but able to do.

Always thought about a truck but hated wasting all the $$$ for very little use so never bought one. The Cyber is a perfect match of Sportscar performance, towing for a person that will never need to drive it more than 200 miles in a day. I am happy to wait a year for Tesla to take all of the kinks out but by then this car will be fantastic.

This truck will be a winner. Will it beat out the Ford F150? Who knows, but it will the Rivian by the end of next year.

I remember talking to a friend about this 3 yrs ago when the Model Y came out. He said the same asinine things such as golf cart, looks terrible, range, niche blah blah blah. We disagreed, put $100 on if the Model Y would outsell all of the Big 3 EV production in 2023 which he already conceded. We are double or nothing in 2024, and it is a forgone conclusion. Tesla will outsell the Big 3 in EVs for the next 10 years IMO.

I would not be surprised if the cybertruck outsells the F150 in 3-5 years Just like the Model Y is the top selling car in the world regardless of class.

This is like saying a leaf blower is as powerful as a Cat 5 Hurricane.

Yeah, they kind of operate the same way but one blows leaves and the other blows houses.

One Drives 20mph and the top Tesla will blow by any car you see on the street.

That thing has a form factor of zero, and a function factor that's a 2 or 3 at best. I still can't believe there is enough demand for that ugly electric POS.

Had one drive past me on a backroad here in Austin, about a month ago.

Looked as stupid in person as it does online. Couldnt imagine driving that thing around.

So does the math behind what EV drivers pay:

Quote:

$17 A GALLON TO CHARGE AN EV

How much does it cost to charge an electric vehicle, and who picks up the tab? Steve Moore's Committee to Unleash Prosperity has this:
Quote:

Uncle Sam pays the automakers billions of dollars to produce EVs. Then they write a check for $7,500 to consumers who buy an EV and many states kick in up to another $5,000. Now, the government is paying to charge the batteries for the rich people who buy EVs.
So what does it all cost?
Quote:

CTUP economist EJ Antoni had this alert:

Quote:

Including the charging equipment, subsidies from governments and utilities and other frequently excluded expenses, the true cost of charging an EV is equivalent to $17.33-per-gallon gasoline but the EV owner pays less than 7% of that.
Over 10 years, almost $12,000 of costs per EV are transferred to utility ratepayers and taxpayers, effectively socializing the price of recharging an EV while keeping the benefits private.

This is socialism for the rich: a transfer of costs from higher net-worth individuals to middle- and lower-income taxpayers.

Of course, to be fair, a lot of socialism is socialism for the rich. But go back to those numbers: when you charge up an electric vehicle, the electricity has a cost equivalent to $17.33 per gallon of gasoline. If gasoline got that expensive, there would be riots in the street and our government would likely fall. Yet this is the profligacy that liberals are trying to force on all of us.

There is an obvious difference, of coursethe regular car driver pays for his own car and his own gasoline. The EV driver doesn't pay for his own charge. In fact, he pays a shockingly low portion of the cost of operating his vehicle: less than 7%. Suckers ratepayers and taxpayers pony up the rest.

When you buy those, do you get to peel off a huge sheet of protective plastic? might be worth it for that alone.

Wow, so much room in the back you can put 2/3rds of a bicycle back there!

That is one fugly vehicle. They either tried to make it look so terrible or let Stevie Wonder design it. Anyone who would be caught dead with one must really crave attention.

Could you ever see a rancher in south texas with one of those? They would run you out of the county. I would love to see and F350 and that thing both hooked up to a 35 foot gooseneck trailer loaded full of cattle and see which one could get those cattle to the meat processor 200 miles away first.

I think I know which truck would put meat on the table first ..

I'm sure that's probably true, also...

They have sold over 573K F-150s so far this year.

Best selling Tesla is the Model Y at 284K. Even adding all the sales of the Model 3 (173K) doesn't get you to that many.

The F-150 just sells a **** ton...

just curious. how long would it take to get one if you ordered one right now?

Based on Tesla's reported production schedule it will take them 5 years to complete the pre-orders so would be a long wait if all of those pre-orders still have any their truck.
Uhhh, I think that list is going to drop a bit, Tesla is having new owners commit to a one-year moratorium on selling the truck w/o Tesla's permission to eliminate speculation...
That provision was removed.

The article below, from 11-13-23, is not the only one on the topic...so if things changed, they changed quick.
