Biden to speak at 1430 EST on CEASEFIRE between Israel and Hizbullah

seems to be a 60 day ceasefire with Israel moving back south to their border and Hizbullah agreeing not to move south of the Litani River

could be a good thing if they focus now on Iran and finishing off Hamas.

What would be different about this time? Haven't they agreed to that several times now to get the Israelis to stop bombing them? Why should the Israelis believe that they will actually do it this time?

Does anyone trust Hez to comply?

Israel should closely monitor everything south of the river and blow them to hell if they cross.

Big win for Trump. Hezzies obviously took the best deal they could get knowing Trump was going to end the war in a couple of months.

We'll see what happens.

Iran is likely using this as an opportunity to resupply and reorganize Hezbollah. Already seeing some tweets about some other Iraqi moron group wanting to move into southern Lebanon now at the behest of Iran. They will do the whole "we aren't Hezbollah so the agreement doesn't apply to us" thing.

Lebanese have supposedly agreed to Israel being able to re-enter Southern Lebanon to conduct operations if necessary.

I think it's a good deal because it accomplishes:

1) IDF can rest, refit, rearm, take care of their equipment, go back to their civilian jobs
2) Hamas is alone
3) it shows Hizbullah desperate to stop getting demolished
4) puts UN 1701 back on the table to be enforced this time
5) israeli civilians can go back home for first time in a year
6) Biden will veto UN resolutions
7) Biden will release weapons shipments held up by the State Department

I think it is a big win for Biden and MIC. Keeping Israel from finishing the job and putting Hez in a state where Lebanon can finish them off once and for all allows them to reconstitute (with Iranian help) over the next few years, ensuring that Israel will have to keep buying American made weapons, missile defense systems and components. Also keeps Trump from claiming credit for a wider peace deal in the ME that could see groups like Hez and Hamas shunned by all of the Arab countries.

Wars end when one side is so thoroughly defeated that they wish for peace more than they wish to keep fighting. These days we never allow wars to get that far before forcing a cease fire on the warring parties. Which leaves both sides still wanting to fight and eventually one side will violate the cease fire.

If you think wars end because "one side is so thoroughly defeated that they wish for peace more than they wish to keep fighting" then you need to read more history books. You're looking at decades because you're American.

The rest of the world thinks that 250 years is a REALLY short time.

Obliterate the enemy to the point they cannot even wish for "peace". Make it "i wish we would have wished for peace, but we were dumbasses and LOST ALL".

Editor of Palestinian Authority Daily: Hamas is to blame.

https://www.memri.org/reports/editor-palestinian-authority-daily-if-it-werent-hamas-constantly-triggering-wars-gaza-could

" The following are translated excerpts from Abu Al-Hija's article:[1]

"Before we ask what benefit we have derived from the [Al-Aqsa] Flood, [i.e., Hamas' October 7 attack on Israel], we must ask what benefit we derived from the [previous] wars Hamas waged against Israel since it carried out its coup against the legitimate Palestinian Authority... Hamas gave these wars high-flown and resolute names that bear no connection to reality, names taken from obsolete Salafi books and from the movement's populist speeches, such as 'the Battle of Al-Furqan,'[2] 'the Stones of Baked Clay,'[3] and 'the Eaten Straw.'[4] These are just names: no victory was achieved, no stones of baked clay were hurled [at the enemy], and the occupation was not eaten like straw!!!"

" "The six wars caused more than 4,000 martyrs and more than 23,000 wounded. The seventh war has caused more than 150,000 martyrs and wounded, and left horrific heaps of rubble that will take five years to clear away from the body of the Gaza Strip, which is full of wounds and mass graves!

"Reality speaks volumes, not in words but only in the bodies of the victims, the wails of the widows, the groans of the injured, and the suffering of the hungry and thirsty. It speaks volumes [by showing us] the ruins [ruins] that the virtual battle maps presented on the screen of the lying satellite channel [referring to Al-Jazeera] cannot cancel or erase, even with the prattle of its military analyst [Fayez Al-Dwairi]..."
