If so, I am curious on what basis such an assertion would be made? They didn't take 'military age males' as hostages and said demographic or population group etc. were among the highest 'shot on sight' category. That a disproportionate ratio of Hamas hostages are women/young adults/children is unsurprising, to me.knj2417 said:

There is probably a disproportionate amount of young women manning the base who were taken hostage compared to the amount of young man manning the base who were taken hostage.
The terrorists would probably capture, torture, and murder the men at the base rather than try to kidnap and transport them.

Ready to learn what Israel could teach the U.S. about conscription, women in the military and more? Here are four facts you should know about Israel's mandatory military service for men and women.
MILITARY SERVICE ACTS AS A "RIGHT OF PASSAGE" FOR ISRAELI CITIZENS.
In America, there are several societal rituals ranging from 18th and 21st birthdays to going to college that indicate a person is growing up. Serving in the army is the Israeli equivalent to going to university, with both experiences giving men and women greater exposure to different kinds of people, locations and skills.
Men typically serve for three years while women serve for a little under two years. Israel's recruitment rate is shockingly high, with 80 percent of those summoned to serve enlisting. Although service is mandatory, there are exemptions for married women and women with children, people who aren't physically or psychologically able, religious men studying at a Jewish law institution or religious women who'd prefer to do "national service," or community volunteering.
THE ARMY IS CONSIDERED ISRAEL'S MELTING POT.
Because everyone over 18 is required to serve, the IDF blends together people of various backgrounds. For example, native Israeli serve alongside immigrants while modern Orthodox Jews serve alongside secular Israelis.

Father and husband of three hostages, who has united with them for the first time in 49 days, asked to thank the IDF, but also urged for the release of all hostages.
Yoni Asher, whose wife Doron and daughters Aviv Asher (2) and Raz Asher (5), were released from Hamas captivity, shared a statement after they arrived back safely. "My family, Doron, Raz and Aviv have returned home from captivity. I am determined to help my family recover from the trauma and the terrible ordeal we've endured, all for the sake of our children and Doron.
"Though challenging days still lie ahead, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to our sons, who endured great suffering, as well as to the IDF, the Israeli government, and the Security Cabinet for their dedicated efforts. I extend my thanks to the wonderful people of Israel for their unwavering support," Asher said in his statement.
How can you consider yourself a man and hold little kids hostage, let alone kill them deliberately. It just boggles my mind what is going through these people's minds when they're doing this.nortex97 said:
