There were a ton of candidates like JR Majewski and Joe Kent that crapped the bed and screwed the GOP over.

Republican infighting will not advance a conservative agenda.

Republicans have been given the greatest gift in Biden in winning next year and they're going to screw it up.

Train wreck of an economy, inflation, border disaster, domestic policies that are an abortion and Ukraine. Republicans should be killing democrats going into next year but their inability to keep thir own house in order is going to foul it all up. Clowns.

They had the same thing during the midterms and got a measly slim margin in the house. It was supposed to be a landslide everywhere.
Thank you for making his point...

The Supreme Court overturning roe was the house Republicans' fault.

That's reason #1 of the narrow margins in the house.

Reason #2 was Trump.

Reason #150 might have been they almost didn't fund the govt

If you're betting on the Aggies Vs Tide do the opposite of what you first believed was going to happen, and you might come out on the other side with some cash.

There were also a lot of terrible candidates that Trump supported and were beat by literal potatoes, see Pennsylvania. The GOP has been trending down since Trump lost re-election and half this board wants to continue doing the same stuff and run the same candidates that got us here. That is just insane. The GOP will continue to lose unless things change. Gaetz is at least trying to do something different. Will it work, who knows, but nothing is working for the GOP currently so why does it matter.

Yep. Kent was of the many seats that was a direct result of kicking out a "RINO" and nominating a far right maga candidate in a purple district. Literal definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

That would be a MASSIVE upgrade.

I admire him for putting a giant target on his back. I would imagine there are some good leaders who would want no part of that job.

There is no alternative to bipartisanship. Any legislation by definition requires a Democrat President to sign it. Some of you seem to have magical thinking about what Republicans can realistically accomplish.

Yes because so many R's wanted to go investigate and impeach Biden and they needed him to lead the charge from the chairman's seat on the House Judiciary Committee...

But as I pointed out back then...R's need to stop playing tit-for-tat with the D's using impeachment threats to try to overturn elections (whether fraudulent or fair), and start focusing on doing what we, the taxpayers (and their constituents) sent them to Washington to do...STOP OVERSPENDING AND GET THE BUDGET IN CHECK...

Jim Jordan might very well be the smartest man in Congress, and he is one helluva a conservative leader...

Your assumption is that we need legislation and a passed big budget.

I don't want new legislation or a big budget unless it is conservative in nature, thus I am ok with shutting it down until that can happen.

Gaetz is advocating that position to a much smaller degree. McCarthy was of the opinion that we must have legislation and avoid a shutdown and if we have to concede however much necessary then so be it.

Absolutely preposterous and precisely why we have $33 TRILLION in debt today…

You put a fiscally responsible omnibus bill in front of the Senate and the White House…if they balk, then you say "we tried but those fools just wanna spend, create debt, and raise your taxes, so this shutdown is on them…"

And you walk away…

Let the damn thing shut down…

Testicular fortitude makes the democrat Senate pass an extremely conservative bill and then have the democrat pass it?

Well hell, why didn't you tell us earlier.

In 42 days you'll have another continuing resolution to fund what Congress has already passed and Ukraine will get more weapons from America. I am Nostradamus.

No, testicular fortitude is required to pass the bill and then stand up to the lunatic, spend-like-drunken-sailor moderates and liberals when they cry about it...

Again, the D's always seem to force us to swallow their bull*****..it's time for the R's to make a damn stand...

I don't expect anyone to accept the R message...and I really don't care...

I expect it to shut down and I don't care if the public is smart enough to realize why it did...at some point, the grown ups have to say enough is enough, whether the children like it or not...

The Democrats excel at the long game. And with the entire media in their back pocket, and a public cut off from federal services, a military not getting paid, for a year under this fantasy "shut it all down till we get 100% of what we want" the Democrats would happily sit back and take the 2024 blue wave to complete and absolute power you hand them on a silver platter.

Basically, you can get some of what you want now or the Democrats will get every single thing they want in 18 months, including weapons bans, stacked court, PR and DC as states, etc. That's your reality. That's your choice.

Are you saying it's impossible for America to function if the government shuts down until a conservative budget and legislation can be passed?

Highly improbably because there are a lot of squishy R's that will gladly vote for a left leaning agenda as long as there are conservative morsels sprinkled in, but it certainly is not impossible.

I'm pointing out the problem and a way to fix it and you are saying that's impossible because the problem is so entrenched that it cant be fixed. Although what I call a problem you call preferential policy.

At some point you have to break the cycle...

Continuing to cave in and kick the responsibility can down the road doesn't work...we've been doing it for decades...the debt is now $33T and counting...inflation is moving a "ludicrous speed" and President Skroob doesn't know what planet he's on...

I think Republicans can score a major victory on the border right now tied to the budget, because Democrats aren't that stupid and can read the room on national mood. But you do that and Biden gets to advertise, fairly or unfairly, that he was the first President to finally sign legislation to get tough on the border. Do Republicans take that?

But fully agree that holding the national budget ransom and crashing the economy due to an unwillingness to concede to anything will result in full blown Communism in 18 months when the voters get a chance to weigh in on that tactic.

But you won't break a cycle. You will simply delay 18 months until the cycle goes into overdrive with full democratic control. And it will never be reversed once they pass election laws they want.

I live on planet Earth and can recognize what is politically possible. You whining about the uniparty globalist cabal doesnt change who controls the Senate nor White House. You can only get concessions and incrementalism right now. That is political reality.

Dump Trump, get the Democrats to stay the course with Biden, and in 1 year and 4 months you have the opportunity of a lifetime to have the largest conservative majority this country has ever seen and ram your agenda down everyones throat. Thats not reality right now.
