They held someone accountable…

That's how it's supposed to work…

McCarthy made promises to get the job and went back on those deals…those are the consequences…

Next time…stand by your word and you'll still be Speaker…

Bottom line…the government should have been shut down until we stop spending money we don't have…

Enough is enough…no compromises…

Well good luck with your strategy of shutting down the government until Joe Biden and the Senate agree to sign off on Ayn Rands fantasyland wish list.

Was Ayn Rand wrong in any way? The opposite of her positions have led us to boys pretending to be girls and 33 trillion in debt. Save me the bs.

So now instead of governing and solving the budget, the Rs will spend another 2 weeks on speaker votes and more infighting within the party.

Dude got ousted for working with the senate. And people wonder why Ds win elections. Rs cant get out of their own way.
"solving the budget", how would that happen with the Democrat Senate and Whitehouse? You do know how the process works right?
It's called working across the aisle when one party does not control all three branches...

Hell McCarthy already did that in June.

I endorse bipartisanship.
There is no isle to work across anymore, only an ocean. Anyone who wants to negotiate with the left is a no go.

The left doesn't give an inch and it's far past time the right quit trying. Incremental compromises by the right is how we've gotten where we are in this screwed up society and government.

This. Never negotiate, never surrender, and sabotage everything you can that Democrats do.

Lets take as assumed that you are right. Please still explain it to me how you enact the Ayn Rand platform, which will require a co-signer in the Democratic Senate and President. Spoiler alert: you cant.

You remember when, during the debt ceiling debate, the house passed what most considered a reasonable bill and the senate said it was DOA and Biden said he'd veto it?

The dems, at least as much as the Republicans, need to understand they don't hold all levers of govt and must also pass bills that they disagree with.

That's one of the problems though- this is a one way information street. The dems own that 4th estate of govt, so, it's never their fault, they're never to blame, they need not make any compromise, they're always reasonable and the a republicans are always trying to kill Granny, prop up big business, take away SS, or other such hyperbole.

The biggest risk to our country is idiots who place more importance on venting (all complaints, no passable solutions), on entertaining and being entertained, and on the self promotion of their own fragile little egos rather anything that would strengthen our country. Personality and cult followings over country. If you are bat**** crazy enough, you have no accountability foe fixing problems. Just fire up your base. That's the job. Let others try to save the country.

The Republicans have some leverage. But they hold one of three cards. The only play RIGHT NOW in this political makeup is incrementalism towards your goal, anyone telling you otherwise is lying to you to win your vote and take your donation. To get what you really want, you need to control all three branches with a healthy margin for your purple district colleagues. I remember the last time that happened and Republicans got their entire dream list of wonderful policies enacted by responsible public servants.

They have an equal share. Its not a majority vote.

The same as with the democrats, nothing that Republicans do not want to pass will pass.

The argument here is that Mccarthy was doing little to either incrementally or suddenly change the direction of spending

This is why I love F16. Hours of going 20 rounds arguing about the same facts and only to end up right where it all started. No one had their minds changed, the event still happened and guess what, America is still here and we are still breathing.

This vote was a big victory for those that have strong opinions about government and absolutely no idea how it works.

Or maybe it's a big win for those who are tired of the status quo. Time to stop the compromise, go along to get along approach and get back to core principles. I think you'll be amazed how many folks are actually supportive of that approach. In either case, 2023 is the year of Chaos. Embrace it.

Less expensive my ass. It's been nothing but spending for the last 60 years. Saving $50 when spending $5,000 isn't saving.
