Cracker Barrel: Homecooking for those who never had homecooking worth a sheet.
My wife says, those folks eat out of a can or eat out or order in and think they are getting something good for them.
We eat well at home and when I go out to eat - I want something whole lot tastier than that fake crap they bring out.

The CEO is a perfect example of an outsider brought in to "save" a business who clearly looks down on the customer base and hates the brand.

She will implement all these cosmetic changes that drive away the old-timers but fail to capture new customers. All the while ignoring the real operational issues that are hurting the business. For example, how about teaching the cooks how to make scrambled eggs that aren't paste?

Then, as others have said, she will cash out big time and move on to the next victim.

In fact, if you look at her LinkedIn, you will see that she is rarely in a job more than three years.

There was a guy I knew in the 70s whose Dad was in the relatively new field of being a turnaround specialist. Only he actually got results and was very handsomely compensated for it. Guy lived in San Fran and had another house in Napa. Not only customer base but employee focused as well. Need both.

Best breakfast I had was at a Waffle House. Dad and I drove up to Dallas for the Cotton bowl game between Arkansas and Mizzou. Waitress was talking about how hungover she was and the cook was lighting up a smoke every other minute. Coffee was hot and the food was amazing. Wont get that at any crackle barrel.

You got a restaurant that built up a brand identity with a distinctive look and feel over the past 55-years.

Then the board decides that the best thing they can do is hire Temu Joanna Ganes to paint the walls eggshell white and bust out a wall to open up the space.

This got to be some kind of scam like they did with Red Lobster a while back where they intentionally tanked the company and filed for bankruptcy.

Had one in Mississippi one time literally fall sound asleep while standing there taking our order. Food was good though when her backup came through.

In a previous life we traveled a lot and did partake in CBs fairly regularly. Thanks for the heads up. I don't need to support woke BS.

I distinctly remember the last time I was in one because Obama was just starting to run for POTUS and I overheard one of the diners say "Barack Obama? Who would ever vote for someone with a name like that?" Sadly, she was not prescient.

Ate at one today before flying out of Jacksonville. Been a long time but recall the food being better before.

Wife and I stopped at the CB in Sherman on the way to Choctaw one weekend. Was absolutely shocked how good the food was. Honestly, probably the best breakfast I've had in a LONG time.
