Seems like Trump is being recorded 24/7.

Seems like since 2015 every move the guy makes theres a recording of it.

Even conversations with his attorneys end up in print.

Wild time to be alive.
There is a good point of clarification to be had here. Why do only ever have transcripts and not actual recordings. Seems odd.

Jack Smith is a perpetual law manipulator and misapplier. He is the epitome of a legal witch hunter ruining people's lives on both sides of the aisle for political purposes.

Mark Levine has great takes on this and to see Turley turned up against Biden DOJ and Smith says quite a bit too.

Trump docs post-presidency have indeed been treated differently than other recent POTUS's. In those instances, NARA and the incoming POTUS admin coordinated to move the docs directly to storage for review. Here, the docs were shipped to Trump's personal residence BEFORE a facility could be put in place then turn right around and complain about the storage at M-A-L.

When you understand that's where this all started, then the rest of the stuff is noise and nonsense. Trump purportedly waiving the document is dumb but so is having all your classified emails sent to your personal, unsecured email server in a bathroom. So is storing classified docs you STOLE from a SCIF next to your Corvette in an unsecured garage with your felonious drug addict son having unfettered access whilst he works million dollar deals with our enemies and corrupt foreign regime.
I'm sure Trumps attorneys will make these same points. And hey, Trump will be tried in Florida and not DC. They love Trump in Florida. No chance he gets convicted. Its obvious they have absolutely no evidence that he did not declassify national defense docs.
I do think Trumps attorney's would be wise to bring up that its not fair that Hunter hasn't been prosecuted yet bc of all his crazy activities and thus this case should be tossed.
They are indicting him in DC later and I suspect since some of these instances they will have indictments issued in New Jersey as well.

Trump has multiple defenses still intact, including following the Presidential Records Act, which is a law very much like the laws he was charged under.

President's have broad authority, established by SCOTUS precedent, to keep materials from their time in office and that NARA must generally defer to the incumbent POTUS on which are personal vs presidential.

Espionage act charges require INTENT and showing you have a document to a reporter without them being able to see any detail is pretty damn weak.

The storage of stuff on stage and in bathrooms is a consequence of shenanigans by NARA and Biden admin.

Keep trying though.
I don't need to keep trying. You and I are not involved in the judicial process so our opinions don't matter. But, he's now been indicted. The evidence isn't moving his situation the other way. Things are not getting better for him. He will get a fair trial. And even if he's convicted, he'll never see any jail time. The number of ways his situation could have been avoided are numerous. I do imagine when Biden leaves office, he will get his due as well. And if Clinton had been taken to task, then at least it would have the perception that the DOJ treats both sides the same. But I will admit that I have not seen all of the evidence Jack Smith has so I can only base my opinions on the limited information the public has right now.

That was one thing odd about the Trump presidency is the guy couldn't get on a phone call without it leaking to the press.

The first few years of Trumps presidency was constant leaks from insiders.

That's a great point.

It'll be something that will be tough for a candidate to answer because they'll already be trying to not piss off the maga while trying to also court the CMs.

Mitt Romney weighs in:

""Like all Americans, Mr. Trump is entitled to the presumption of innocence. The government has the burden of proving its charges beyond a reasonable doubt and securing a unanimous verdict by a South Florida jury.

"By all appearances, the Justice Department and special counsel have exercised due care, affording Mr. Trump the time and opportunity to avoid charges that would not generally have been afforded to others.

"Mr. Trump brought these charges upon himself by not only taking classified documents, but by refusing to simply return them when given numerous opportunities to do so.

"These allegations are serious and if proven, would be consistent with his other actions offensive to the national interest, such as withholding defensive weapons from Ukraine for political reasons and failing to defend the Capitol from violent attack and insurrection."

I can see Trump continuing with his campaign as an independent to the point where he splits the vote and forces another term for whoever the democrats decide to roll out.

This Trump indictment puts the democrats in the driver seat well through the '24 election.

They'll control the timing and speed of all this to respond to their needs.

This Trump thing is a built in distraction as the US continues its race towards the bottom.

It's been Trump, Trump Trump 24/7 since 2015. And it shows no sign of slowing down.

Trump will be put in prison before we ever stop hearing about Trump on a daily basis.

The grid will go down and quantum AI will crash the entire internet and people will still be writing chain letters to each other complaining about Trump.

Just curious where you are hearing this. I haven't found the complete text of their joint statement, but this doesn't seem to mention anything about shifting their roles:

Burned out on Trump

It's getting hard to follow any of this nonsense.

It's the same with Biden falling or saying nonsense gibberish. Who cares anymore?

Oh look Biden fell down the stairs again ...

Oh look they indicted Trump again ...

Oh look, more evidence of corruption via Ukraine ...

Oh look, another photo of Hunter smoking crack out of a hookers *** ...

When does it end?

Probably with the rollout of Covid-24, Aliens landing, global economic collapse, or we hit that trifecta with all of the above.

I see Mitt Romney is keeping up his limp-wristed reputation of criticizing his own party for the things he's too weak to speak out about when the Democrats do it.

You have heard those recordings and they have been verified? Have you reviewed the documents in question?

And yes, it has been repeatedly established that POTUS is not bound by process regarding declassification.
trump himself says in the recordings that he KNOWS the documents are still classified and that he COULD have declassified them when he was president, but he didn't, and now he can't because he's no longer president.

i'm gonna go ahead and guess that those recordings were "verified" by at least one of the multiple other people who are present on them.

On a related note:

What is the total count of indictments that Trump has been subject to while in office, and now while out of office?

How many total counts spread across Article 1 courts, Article 3 courts and state courts.

How many total?

If you wanna include the Jean Carrol dressing room assault case throw that in there as well because it took the NY legislature to bring that to fruition so we'll count that in the same lot.

Who in history has been gone after as hard as Trump and is still walking around a free man?

History will show that the election of Trump in 2016 caused the entire structure of the US government to melt down from within.

Good or bad, the consequence of this is that we are unlikely to re-gain any sense of order and trust in government within our lifetime.

Millennials and Gen Z will be most affected, but they are too brain dead to realize how absolutely ****ed they are.

In any event, next 1.5 years should be entertaining. Godspeed.

Could it be that a lawyer cannot ethically be both a witness and a lawyer in the same case? Conflict of interest. Apparently, there are taped conversations of Trump and his lawyers discussing the facts about the documents that the govt will attempt to use against Trump. If the govt intends to offer these tapes into evidence Trumps attorneys must resign from the case now. If so, these resignations should not be considered a sign of weakness on Trump's side, as is apparently being contended here.
