They're like sheep. They honestly think "Well if the Democrats did anything wrong, I'm sure their allies will charge them with it because they would never play politics. Since they haven't, I guess it was only Trump and the Republicans that did bad things...so that's all we're allowed to talk about! Aw shucks!"

INDICTMENT AGAINST TRUMP MADE PUBLIC

An indictment charging former President Donald Trump with mishandling classified documents has been unsealed. The document released Friday marks the Justice Department's first official confirmation of a criminal case against Trump arising from the retention of hundreds of documents at his Florida home, Mar-a-Lago. Trump disclosed the existence of the indictment in a Truth Social post Thursday night as well as in a video he recorded. People familiar with the matter have told The Associated Press that the indictment includes seven separate charges.

INDICTMENT ALLEGES TRUMP SHARED PENTAGON 'PLAN OF ATTACK,' SHARED CLASSIFIED MAP

Trump described a Pentagon "plan of attack" and shared classified map related to a military operation, according to an indictment unsealed Friday. The document marks the Justice Department's first official confirmation of a criminal case against Trump arising from the retention of hundreds of documents at his Florida home, Mar-a-Lago. Trump disclosed the existence of the indictment in a Truth Social post Thursday night as well as in a video he recorded. The indictment accuses Trump of having improperly removed scores of boxes from the White House to take them to Mar-a-Lago, many of them containing classified information.
Quote:

INDICTMENT ALLEGES TRUMP SHOWED DOCUMENTS TO OTHERS

The indictment unsealed Friday outlined two circumstances in which Trump allegedly showed the documents to others. One occurred in a meeting with a writer at his Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, where he described federal officials' "plan of attack" against him and purportedly acknowledging that he knew the information "is still a secret." In a later meeting with a representative from his political action committee, Trump displayed "a classified map related to a military operation," acknowledging he "should not be showing it to the representative and that the representative should not get too close," prosecutors said. In the next paragraph, prosecutors note how Trump, at a press conference while president in 2017, addressed media leaks and said that leaking classified information is "an illegal process" and that people involved "should be ashamed of themselves."

Quote:

INDICTMENT ALLEGES VALET MOVED BOXES AT TRUMP'S DIRECTION

The indictment alleges that Nauta acted "at Trump's direction" to move move "approximately 64 boxes" of documents from the Mar-a-Lago storage room to the former president's residence. Nauta's actions occurred between May 23, 2022, and June 2, 2022, according to the indictment. That total includes "approximately 30 boxes" Nauta allegedly moved on June 2, the same day Trump's legal team was expected to examine the cache. Nauta's actions that day came hours after he talked briefly via phone with Trump, prosecutors allege. Neither Trump nor Nauta, according to the indictment, disclosed to the former president's attorneys that Nauta had moved any of the storage room contents. According to prosecutors' timeline, Trump met later that day with one of his attorneys and Nauta escorted the attorney to the storage room for his review of the documents.

Quote:

LAWYER SAID TRUMP SUGGESTED HE REMOVE DAMAGING DOCUMENTS

The indictment unsealed Friday also says that, unaware of any records being moved, Trump's attorney on June 2, 2022, identified 38 documents with "classified" markings and placed them in a folder, which he sealed with clear duct tape handed to him by Trump valet Walt Nauta. The valet then took the attorney to see the former president.

"Did you find anything? Is it bad? ... Is it good?" the lawyer said Trump asked.

The attorney told federal authorities that he discussed the folder of classified material with Trump and how the material should be handled. The attorney told authorities that as they discussed the attorney taking the materials with him, Trump gestured in a way that suggested he wanted the attorney to identify "anything really bad" and "you know, pluck it out." The lawyer clarified that Trump did not articulate such instructions beyond making that "plucking motion."

The attorney told authorities that he did not take anything out of the folder and that he instead immediately contacted the FBI and another Trump attorney. On June 3, according to the indictment, the second Trump attorney acted as the official custodian of records on Trump's behalf and turned the material to the FBI.

TRUMP KEPT CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS IN BATHROOM, SHOWER OF CLUB, INDICTMENT SAYS
The indictment alleges Trump kept classified documents in the bathroom and shower at his Florida estate, as well as various other locations that included a ballroom, storeroom, office and bedroom.

Prosecutors noted that "tens of thousands of members and guests" visited the "active social club" of Mar-a-Lago between the end of Trump's presidency in January 2021 through the August 2022 search. They argued that "nonetheless" Trump stored documents "in a ballroom, a bathroom and shower, and office space, his bedroom, and a storage room."

The indictment claims that, for a two-month period, some of Trump's boxes were stored in one of Mar-a-Lago's gilded ballroom. A picture included in the indictment shows boxes stacked in rows on the ballroom's stage.

The indictment also shows photographs of boxes that spilled over in the storage room, including a document marked SECRET/REL TO USA, FVEY" which means information releasable only to members of the intelligence alliance of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. In the photo the classified document is redacted.

TRUMP FACES 37 FELONY CHARGES

Trump is facing 37 felony charges related to the mishandling of classified documents. An indictment unsealed Friday also alleges that he described a Pentagon "plan of attack" and shared a classified map related to a military operation. The document marks the Justice Department's first official confirmation of a criminal case against Trump arising from the retention of hundreds of documents at his Florida home, Mar-a-Lago. Charged alongside with Trump was Walt Nauta, a Trump aide who was seen on surveillance camera removing boxes at Mar-a-Lago. The indictment accuses Trump of having improperly removed scores of boxes from the White House to take them to Mar-a-Lago, many of them containing classified information.

Jack Smith is a perpetual law manipulator and misapplier. He is the epitome of a legal witch hunter ruining people's lives on both sides of the aisle for political purposes.

Mark Levine has great takes on this and to see Turley turned up against Biden DOJ and Smith says quite a bit too.

Trump docs post-presidency have indeed been treated differently than other recent POTUS's. In those instances, NARA and the incoming POTUS admin coordinated to move the docs directly to storage for review. Here, the docs were shipped to Trump's personal residence BEFORE a facility could be put in place then turn right around and complain about the storage at M-A-L.

When you understand that's where this all started, then the rest of the stuff is noise and nonsense. Trump purportedly waiving the document is dumb but so is having all your classified emails sent to your personal, unsecured email server in a bathroom. So is storing classified docs you STOLE from a SCIF next to your Corvette in an unsecured garage with your felonious drug addict son having unfettered access whilst he works million dollar deals with our enemies and corrupt foreign regime.

Does trump get bail? Apparently people charged with espionage rarely get bail but maybe he'll get house arrest rather than an actual orange jumpsuit.

I believe each of the espionage charges carries a punishment of 10 years in prison, so he's looking at 310 years just on those counts, not including the false statements, obstruction, etc. Where should we set the over/under? 150 years, maybe?

Of course you don't want to discuss Hillary or Joe's crimes. You're an unapologetic hypocrite.
I think the point is...if the discussion is to be predominately about Hillary or Biden...make a post. It's used as some kind of 'gotcha' when people have nothing meaningful to add a to a post that was not initially about either of them. 99% of everyone hear knows Biden and Hillary are idiots and likely criminals. But for Hillary, that ship has sailed. Trump, when we had a majority republican congress, could have implored the DOJ to investigate or at least held investigative hearings. It didn't happen.
Biden still could be taken to task, likely after he's out of office so he can't be as shielded. But all of that is moot currently. And no court, with republican or democratic appointed judges, is going to look at Hillary and Biden when considering Trumps case.
So no, it doesn't sound stupid. You can say you disagree, but saying its stupid is just a subjective ad hominem.

Hillary Clinton literally ran the State Department off a private server located in her bathroom for 4 years. From day one they began bypassing using the official server for the State Department as required by law. Hillary never used her official email EVER, claimed it was a convenience thing with her to use her private server. Barry Obama never appointed a new Inspector General in charge of oversight over the State Department until Hillary had resigned and John Kerry took over, that's never happened in history since the inception of the Inspector General position in USGov. Were it not for the Benghazi Investigation that server would have never been known about.

Dick Cheney used alternative email when he was GWB's VP, so it's not unheard of. Might even be where HRC got the idea to run State off an alternative server.

I'm sure Trumps attorneys will make these same points. And hey, Trump will be tried in Florida and not DC. They love Trump in Florida. No chance he gets convicted. Its obvious they have absolutely no evidence that he did not declassify national defense docs.
I do think Trumps attorney's would be wise to bring up that its not fair that Hunter hasn't been prosecuted yet bc of all his crazy activities and thus this case should be tossed.

They are indicting him in DC later and I suspect since some of these instances they will have indictments issued in New Jersey as well.

Trump has multiple defenses still intact, including following the Presidential Records Act, which is a law very much like the laws he was charged under.

President's have broad authority, established by SCOTUS precedent, to keep materials from their time in office and that NARA must generally defer to the incumbent POTUS on which are personal vs presidential.

Espionage act charges require INTENT and showing you have a document to a reporter without them being able to see any detail is pretty damn weak.

The storage of stuff on stage and in bathrooms is a consequence of shenanigans by NARA and Biden admin.

Keep trying though.
