Such low energy…SAD!

I keep hearing from Trump folks how much energy he has and how he would run anyone into the ground. Yet he hasn't done an event since the Town Hall and before that it was Waco. He does his interviews from MAL and puts out a few videos. He is talking about how we need to cut off the primary early and not do debates. He literally is making Biden look active. It's not like Trump can't put on some makeup and have some drugs and look great for a few hours just like Biden.

If he is physically ready for this that's great, go do 2 or 3 events a day and show you still have the energy you did in '16. It should be on him as a man of his age to prove he still has it and not for people to simply assume he hasn't declined. It is just insane for a guy that is the leading candidate from the opposition party with zero scheduled events. The longer he stays sequestered the more the questions should arise.

I think it's safe to assume he was juiced up the whole time between 2015 in 2020. It's not normal for a 70 year old to be campaigning every night in a different state. I don't know any 70 year old that can go to a social event and not be out of gas by 5pm.

It had to have taken its toll on him physically.

You think at some point he will struggle to raise $$$ simply chilling at MAL rather than actively campaigning and doing what it takes to win.

"The problem with the Trump diehards is that they'd read the bad-ass tweets, pump their fists, but then wander off, never bothering to find out what happened next. Here's what happened: Trump surrendered. Over and over and over again."

He's struggling to raise money now and he was already way behind. Big donors are flipping to DeSantis or staying on the sidelines and he can only tap the small donors for so much. He sure as hell isn't going to self finance, hell he is using campaign money to pay his legal fees.

That's why he wants the primary over as fast as possible, he is hoping if he is the only choice he will be able to raise money again. The next reporting period is going to be very interesting to watch and if it is half as bad as I think it could be it will be a disaster for him.

Yep, the real story is how little he raised from his announcement and then indictment. The cash just isn't coming in unless it is coming in quiet and I can't imagine that's the case since Trump folks on Twitter would be bragging about any news like that. We will see, I really don't think so.

Unlike Trump I am not going to judge people based on their physical attractiveness

on the other hand, maybe this is why Trump doesn't want to debate Ron DeSantis.

on the other hand, it was Trump bullying Rubio and Cruz that led him to the nomination in 2016 so maybe it helps DeSantis if Trump refuses to participate.

thoughts?

New poll: DeSantis edges past Trump in Florida

The Governor's campaign launch provided a serious lift. Will it stick?
Two Florida politicians remain the top contenders for the GOP nomination for President. Now a Naples-based pollster found Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former President Donald Trump in a tie among Sunshine State voters.

Victory Insights polled likely GOP Primary voters in Florida and found a neck-and-neck contest. DeSantis barely comes out on top of a crowded field, polling at 38.2% with Trump at 38.0%.

That's well within the poll's 3.9% margin of error, making a statistical tie. No other candidate makes a statistically significant showing. South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott polls above 3% while former Vice President Mike Pence and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley are both under 3%. Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy barely registered above 0%.

In a head-to-head race between just DeSantis and Trump, the Governor holds a slightly stronger position, coming in at just over 40% while Trump sits at 39%, but again, the 1.2% margin between them falls within the error margin.

Pollsters surveyed 700 individuals from between May 25 and May 27, a period entirely after DeSantis formally launched his long-anticipated campaign for President. Trump announced his candidacy in November.

The tweet is from December 2016. Remember when trump made advisory panels of a wide cross-section of business leaders?

Shortly after they were all pressured by the media (& twitter) into dropping out.

As much as we've joked that Trump is playing 4D chess, the reality we're seeing from Trump is he is just a narcissist doing narcissistic things. We've all been hoping it was all a big chess game, but it isn't. Trump's power of personality is what he is relying on, and it has worked in certain situations where a strong personality does well. It's early, but what I am seeing from DS actually seems more like chess. He is putting parts in place that are strategic and not moving without having had a plan ready. Whether he will be successful at it or not has yet to be determined. Strategy is only great if it works, and there's a long road ahead, but I much prefer that to the constant stream of " *wince* WTF?" that happens in my head when I hear something coming from Trump.

That's why Machiavelli said a good leader needs to be like a lion AND a fox.

You have to know when to use force and when to use trickery. A lion takes everything by force but it also makes him easily trapped. This describes trump perfectly.

Trump is a con man. Because he was attacked by the Left people on the Right had to defend him no matter. It all became tribal and the more he got attacked to more people had to defend him. If you said anything negative about Trump you were told "you sound like a democrat"

People abandoned their prior principles to defend Trump against the Left and worked themselves into a shoot. He took advantage of people's grievances and worked them.

What I don't think Team Trump is realizing is that they are burning a lot bridges here. Yes, I prefer Desantis, but the more I hear from Trump, the more I dislike him. I am not a never-Trumper... but in the last couple of months, based on his behavior, the thought has crossed my mind. I'm absolutely a pragmatist, and I would never vote for a Dem ticket, but if he continues this, I am not seeing much different in his behavior and your run of the mill Dem presidential candidate. I'm more willing to hold my nose and pull the lever than most, I think, and if I'm feeling the pull of not voting for the Republican nominee (if it is Trump), then there will be a LOT of others who just won't do it.

I've been wondering:

If Trump had a health issue and had to bow out, who would he endorse? I think we're probably all agreed that he would refuse to endorse RD even though he could need a Republican president for a pardon.

This is pretty much how I am feeling now. Never thought I'd end up disliking Trump how I do now- he was always flawed, but the bitter behavior now just stinks.

I'd still hold my nose and vote for him, but any enthusiasm is gone at this point.

Let's try not to glamourize the Desantis' military history. He was a legal advisor, period. Not to mention that he's never had a real job, always a public servant...since that point is brought up a lot about political figures never having real jobs.

He taught highschool history and coached the baseball team for a year in between undergrade and law school. Plus, to say that military service is not a "real job" is preposterous.

Same, it's crazy...just a few years ago I was giddy to wait in line to vote for him. Now I absolutely cannot stand him. I don't know if I will vote for him at all. Disclaimer: I am in TX and if my vote for Trump over a Dem matters, he doesn't stand a chance any way.
