Nothing in that “Truth” is accurate. Cox is leaving the PAC (which has nothing to do w the campaign & isn’t run by DeSantis), he wasn’t fired, and Jeff Roe isn’t DeSantis’ campaign manager.

All it will do is ensure a 1932 disaster for the Republicans if he is the nominee.
Most Trump folks can be flipped. The next big challenge for DeSantis honestly is going to be selling his economic chops. He's focused on the Woke stuff which is great but he needs both, people can't just see him as purely a guy who cares about social issues. Good news is he has a great resume on economic issues.

I think you're right, but my guess is that the number of hardcore Trumpers is higher, maybe 25-30%. Still, I'd bet that if DeStantis can pull it together, he could essentially win the nomination in a cakewalk. The rest of the candidates would need to drop out early (Kind of like the Dems in 2020), and he will need a more coherent message about the direction he wants to take the country. I'm a big supporter, but being just the anti-woke candidate probably won't pull it off, and I was surprised to see that there aren't ANY policy positions on his "DeSantis for President" website.aggie93 said:Depends on what "base" you are talking about. That's almost certainly by design. It's a long campaign and they need news cycles. I would expect they are going to slowly roll out each part of the platform with specifics so they can have days or weeks of focus on different issues. There has been nothing about the DeSantis campaign that has been done without planning.northeastag said:I think you're right, but my guess is that the number of hardcore Trumpers is higher, maybe 25-30%. As crazy as Loomer and even uglier. She should spend her time suing her plastic surgeon.

DeSantis nominated Sasso and four others to their spots on the CFTOD board in February, taking another significant step in his planned reformation of Walt Disney World's special governing district as the state's reaction became more realized, in part, for Disney's criticism of Florida's "Parental Rights in Education" law. …
Quote:
Sasso, managing partner of the Sasso & Sasso law firm in Winter Park, also serves on the Sixth District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission, the Public Employees Relations Commission and as a trustee of Valencia State College, according to Gov. Ron DeSantis' press office.
DeSantis on Tuesday appointed Meridith Sasso, Michael Sasso's wife and chief judge at the Florida Sixth District Court of Appeal in Lakeland, to the Florida Supreme Court. There has been no connection made between this and Michael Sasso's resignation from the CFTOD board.
VIa Hot AirQuote:
[Media outlets are reporting this as a mystery, but it looks pretty clear to me. Disney and DeSantis' office are locked in lawsuits that will very obviously go all the way to the state Supreme Court (and likely that other SCOTUS too). If Sasso is on the board through which those lawsuits pass, then it sets up a conflict of interest with Judge Sasso when she takes her seat on the state's highest court. DeSantis can find another appointee for the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District board. Ed]

Charlie Kirk is about a half step behind them which is a bummer as I like Kirk. Listened to his mailbag this morning for instance and he was once again talking about how we need to stop the primary fight and unify (behind Trump of course) because it is pointless. He talked about how we need to put in machinery and ground forces in place (which only DeSantis is doing and bigtime but of course Kirk doesn't mention that). Then he talks about how Tim Scott will never beat Trump and never mentions DeSantis' name at all as though Scott is the real threat to Trump but of course he isn't. Worse than that he starts going off on Woke issues and how we need to stand up to corporations and just leaves the elephant in the room alone. It's so obvious Kirk has sold out and it's sad. You can be for Trump and still recognize that DeSantis exists and that he has good ideas as well.
When Trump eventually loses these folks will have destroyed any future career.

Have to give DeSantis credit for thinking ahead here.
That's because DeSantis is a lawyer and can read the landscape on how the federal and state suits are shaping up. State suit is critical to support Disney's federal suit and that is a question of state law and not federal law. So if Disney loses that state suit (as appears likely) it will go up on appeal to state supreme court first before the federal suit really gets started.Old May Banker said:Quote:

Honestly, with regards to policy positions, this is where RDS really shine IMHO. He understands how to work within the system to beat it at its own game. He seems to understand how the legislative branch works and constantly be moving whatever pieces he's allowed to - on the executive side - to the benefit of legislation he / Florida needs. That's much more important that simply using executive orders or "owning" liberals on Twitter. YMMV.
