I like Charles and still will going forward. I'd love to ask him what names he's called people on the course who left a putt short or topped it behind the women's tees. 100% guarantee he used the F word that his little rant would apply to. So big deal, he's his own hypocrite.

Looks like at least two phony media narratives are still going strong:

"It's the redneck consumers fault for being too stupid to understand Anheuser-Bush's advertising strategy, oh and look at all these workers they are hurting". - Oh, we understand the strategy just fine, thanks.

and, my personal favorite:

"This is a conservative boycott run by right-wing haters" - yeah, there are a lot of dem beer drinkers that are sick and tired of the LBGTQ+++ crap being shoved in their faces and pushed into their schools too, but go ahead and mischaracterize this event, I'm sure somebody out there believes your crap.

Totally agree! Boycott CMT who chooses crazed anti-gun woman over Jason Aldean. Pathetic!

Don't drink a lot of beer so bear with me. During this BL deal, I've noticed that no one seems to be drinking Bud heavy either and my HEB has a tiny Bud heavy section. Is this normal since light beers have taken over?

So conservatives boycott Bud Light, and drive the stock price down. And now DeSantis wants to sue AB because the stock price hurts the shareholders. Wow, this guy wants to be president? Why are all of the republican nominees so unhinged?

A company has a fiscal responsibility to their shareholders. When a company does actions to alienate their customer base, they should be held accountable. It does not matter who that customer base is. I would say the same if white claw alienated their liberal customer base.

When publicly traded companies like AB or Disney make decisions that hurt their shareholders in the service of other agendas, it violates their fiduciary duty to the shareholders and they should be accountable for the losses incurred as a result. That is not an "unhinged" or extremist position. When companies sell shares of stock to become publicly traded, part of the deal is that they now owe a duty to those shareholders to act in the interest of improving the return on investment by maximizing profits. Serving the agenda of ESG and other woke mobs doesn't do that and violates their fiduciary duty.

Sorry, not how it works. Plenty of "MAGA" conservatives use Apple products. Would you recommend that Apple hire "MAGA" influencers to push their products and risk alienating their core users? You don't promote something that the majority of your customers think is political or simply don't want to be associated with. Trans issues have become very political and BL chose to hire a "famous" trans person as an influencer.

He's not wrong. The difference between BL and Apple is that apple makes a product of such high quality, and with such a high demand, that they can advertise and pander to whomever they want and the vast majority of people will still buy their product. BL produces ****ty tasting water and has a ton of competitors that people can buy from if they want ****ty tasting water.

Conservatives don't like that they pandered to the woke, trans, hyper left leaning segment of the population and that's just fine. The ability for people to get pissed at businesses and choose not to buy from them is why capitalism is essential and socialism/communism needs to be shunned at all costs. That said, his post was spot on.

Edit: My values align with the conservative contingent on most issues, including this, but a spade needs to be called a spade.

Apple was a poor choice for comparison. My point is that you don't risk alienating your core customer base by pandering to something that the base finds objectionable. Whether it's political, repulsive (woman face) or both.

I don't think the BL boycott would have grown legs had they just made the sent the can to Mulvaney and then shut up about it. But when they interviewed the BL VP and she crapped all over their existing customer base, that is what was spread around that really pushed the buttons of a lot of their customers. What she did wasn't "pandering", it was taking a dump on their existing customers. It was dumb, and Bud Light should have apologized immediately for what she said and fired her. They dilly dallied, and now here we are.

Uh no. It's not pandering; it's creating emotional association with a product. The lower the switching cost of a product/service, the more careful you need to be when crafting the image of the product.

Also, the BL boycott is kind of a "straw that broke the camel's back" scenario. I'm sure there are plenty of previous examples of woke marketing that didn't affect conservatives' consumer choices. The BL boycott may have finally ushered in a return to advertising that isn't political or controversial. At least with large brands like BL.

Maybe, but brands do all kinds of crazy things that people hate, and if they either just don't react or express some conciliatory words about it, nothing happens and everybody goes back to normal. In this case it was the doubling down by the VP and the attack on the existing customers that did the real damage. If in that interview, she had said something like: "We know this can doesn't represent the typical Bud Light drinker and we are fine with that! It was a one off can we sent to Dylan to show our support, and not something we plan to put into nationwide production. We think Bud Light is a brand with room for all types of people to drink it and we are happy that our current customers have made us the number one beer in America." Then everything goes away and a few people grumble, but the boycott would have no traction at all.
