I just tuned into the CMT Music Awards while hanging out with my wife for the first time in a few years. All I can say is wow, I felt like I was watching the Oscar's with all the leftist political talk after someone got an award including racism, LGBT stuff, etc. We didn't make it through more than 6-7 minutes before changing the channel. I was surprised given who their audience typically is.

Maybe I haven't really paid attention but is that a new thing or has has the country music scene been like this for a while?

Most modern day country artists want to be pop or rock. They align with those political beliefs as well.

Country music ain't what it used to be. It's practically part of mainstream Hollywood so of course the leftward stances and virtue signaling will be there also.

I remember seeing Kacy Musgraves several years ago in this awards show being vocal in support of LGBT rights.

The irony of their entire woke segment on equality and giving the equality award Shania Twain is that the very next act up after the segment was Cody Johnson.

For those that don't do country. Cody is a popular 30 something country star considered one of the leaders of trying to pull country back to its roots away from "new country". A guy who grew up in small Texas town and dresses and sings more in line with George Strait then whatever Frankenstein's monster the progressives are trying to turn country into these days.

Yeah, this isn't new. Look at all the new woke ****ies like Isbell, Childers, etc.

It's sad, but even this part of entertainment hasn't represented their base's values in years. Just like NHL and MLB have turned the last few years, Nashville has bolted to the left in the pursuit of being accepted.

I don't listen to much mainstream country, but you could tell a few weeks ago that the left was beside itself when Morgan Wallen's album went up the charts. Screw CMT.
