A 400lb dude who has prison tats on his face and dresses like a rapper.

Loved Kelsey's performance with the four drag queens too.

WTF

Jelly Roll is awesome. Save Me is a beautiful song.

The current Nashville sound definitely limits my shopping duration in any Buccees or Tractor Supply I enter. That brutally terribly sappy stereotyped cookie cutter sound is repellent to me.

Take cheesy pop tune template:
Add a touch of random fiddle or steel guitar riffs here and there.
Auto tune and chorus double the crap out of the singer on the verses, if male, verses might sort be rapped Vs sung.
Sing about stereotyped middle class or poor trash tropes
Use the word GIRLLL extensively if singer is male.
The same electric guitar solo in every song.
Percussion replaced by hip hop generic beatbox loop.

Done.

Edit: almost forgot: sprinkle in illiterate sounding double negatives for no reason.

Modern day country music has become part of mainstream Hollywood with liberal stances and virtue signaling. I live in Austin, and I am glad I didn't spend money and time to attend the CMT Music Awards. I watched the CMT Music Awards on TV instead. I went to Chilifest for the 8th time on Friday and Saturday, and that is one of the few true country music festivals remaining.

Jelly roll is country now? Wtf?

Luke Bryan had a gay love line in a song in 2017 (which makes sense because Luke Bryan is the worst). It's been going this way for a long time now. Most people were just oblivious to it. Kind of like how our country has been falling apart long before 2020 but most conservatives couldn't see it

Yeah Jelly Roll is now doing full Country and he's actually quite good. You can tell he had a really terrible life growing up, it shows in his songs.

My problem is less the artists than the mixers and producers. They are totally unoriginal dollar chasers.

It's probably not worth replying to your thesis, but I'll give you one. When you have an awards show that is making gun control statements, trans rights statements and parading drag queens around for the world to see, it's ****ing liberal.
But then there's people thanking Jesus, paying tribute to the troops and first responders, wearing cowboy boots and singing patriotic songs about traditional family values.

It's almost seems like not everyone's ideologies are in alignment.

I don't know why they think they have any right to express their views on things. Downright Un-American if you ask me.
Except the left's ideologies are being force fed to us in every possible way through every possible avenue. And loudly. And if we object, WE'RE painted as the bad people and attacked for it.
Conservatives are not being victimized. They are being paranoid.

Nobody is silencing conservatives. Conservative **** is everywhere. Rallies, social media, Podcasts, serveral networks, the entire AM talk space, huge Conservative churches across the country, weird boat/golf cart parades with hilarious flags. Nobody is shutting any of that **** down. Your voice is not being silenced. Nobody has any right to silence those voices. There are just other voices.
I am surprised even you can type this so soon after the Twitter files that proved what we thought all along; the government was working with social media to squelch stories they didn't like and reporters and R politicians they didn't want to be heard.

Banned from the de facto town square, but not silenced. OK.

I'd say anything Waylon and Willie put out in the 70's was far more country than a lot of the polished stuff in the 60's.

So many "country" artists today choose the genre because they see it as an easier step to stardom. Nashville is just a stepping stone.

They have absolutely no love for real country music nor any sense of its history. All the name checks in today's country songs are absolute BS -- they ain't "crankin' up the ol' Hank;" they grew up listening to Mary J. Blige and the Backstreet Boys.

It's even worse with female artists. The minute they get some name recognition, it's pop all the way.

The labels are 100 percent on board. They can make a lot more money with pop artists and that's the name of the game.

The Nashville establishment is on board, because most of them are embarrassed deep down that they aren't in New York or LA.

The media is 100 percent on board, too, because country music WILL be made to conform to the progressive agenda.

You are 100% correct. The only mainstream artist that I occasionally listen to is Eric Church. I've seen him in concert a couple of times and he's really good.

You can't blame artists for wanting recognition on a global stage. It gives them much more in their lives than if they just stayed in their smaller circle. For every rich country singer, there's dozens of hip hop and pop artists that are making more.

They're not all capable to being a Garth Brooks and able to appeal to country and pop fans. Many of them sound like they want to be rock or pop acts, but aren't good enough to be successful in that music genre so they go with country where they can look edgy and stand our.

It is a shame, but that's what the artists want. Such is life.

Except they have crowded out the artists who respect the genre and want it to thrive.

At least Taylor Swift had the guts to say she was no longer a country artist, and asked her label not to promote her to country radio.

If you wanna go pop or rock or rap, at least cut your ties with country and make it on your own merit.

I just tuned into the CMT Music Awards while hanging out with my wife for the first time in a few years. All I can say is wow, I felt like I was watching the Oscar's with all the leftist political talk after someone got an award including racism, LGBT stuff, etc. We didn't make it through more than 6-7 minutes before changing the channel. I was surprised given who their audience typically is.

Maybe I haven't really paid attention but is that a new thing or has has the country music scene been like this for a while?

Weird that you haven't hung out with your wife in years, and even weirder that the thing you chose after those years of waiting was to watch that.
He nailed all 5 points on the casual outrage checklist, a real tour de force!!

1) Only watching "fill in blank" because of wife
2) Haven't watched "fill in blank" in a substantial length of time
3) Bring up a low hanging fruit for easy criticism like the Oscars
4) Throw in a few incendiary buzz words leftist, racism, LGBT
5) Make sure everyone knows you haven't been able to pay attention, suggesting that in the good old days when you liked "fill in the blank", it was much better.

To each their own.

Personally I'll take Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Marty Robbins over anything Strait has ever done.

But that's just me. I'm just a millennial after all so what do I know.

Willie Nelson needs to be shot into the sun, that dude has done more damage to the greater Fredericksburg area than a direct nuclear strike would have.
