If the war is over, if Ukraine is on the brink of collapse, if sanctions are actually strengthening Russia (all arguments frequently made on this thread), why do pro Russian sources want to end the war?

They just love the Ukrainian people so much and want to end the suffering.

It is September and Uke has been "on the offensive" since Spring. I find this shocking. I knew Uke gains were minimal but just based on pixels this is a fraction of a percentage point in reclaimed territory, since Spring. Am I reading it wrong?

They have not been on the offensive since Spring, and nobody that paid attention finds this shocking. Russia's had a long time to fortify this territories key points.

Key points, by the way, are what gains you the rest of the territory. It's more important to achieve certain objectives rather than "just take land". The land comes as a result of achieving objectives. That's why they attack where they feel it is best.

When do you contend that the Spring Offensive began?

They should be shocked if they are actually paying attention to the money and manpower that has been sunk into this patch of dirt.
I'm not sure if people genuinely believe someone is going to say, "Wow, if some people say I'm a moron for not believing this, it clearly must be true."

It's not much a persuasive argument. It really just sounds like a bunch of miniature dachshunds barking because the first one one barked when it thought it heard something.

It's fascinating really. In the spring the questions hammered on when the "mythical offensive" would begin. And now the offensive apparently occurred over the entire spring.

No. And I'm going to continue to refrain from responding to some. The Russians have also added at least 300k in or near theater in combat forces and logarithmically increased drone production.

This war is over, it's just about when some announce it.

I would take those numbers with a heavy boulder of salt when you consider where they come from. And even if they are true what will they arm them with? How will they field them? How will they provide CAS? How will they feed and supply them? Russia is fighting a 2023 war with 1943 tactics. It's folly, though it's certainly amusing to watch.

And remember, this war is so over and successful that Russian leaders and generals keep falling to their deaths as their reward.

Everything is going great in the spring offensive. Putin has fired a lot of generals.

Kiev is a great liberal democracy fighting for freedom.

Meanwhile, in reality…

Keep posting the updates and ignore the noise. I find the different perspectives helpful to understand the broader context of the greater tectonic shifts in the geopolitical landscapes that occur when the war monger globalists are in charge.

Heck, the individual countries hardly matter. Send money to both our friends and enemies, create power vacuums, install puppets like Zelensky, ignore the long term repercussions that will ultimately cost American lives, likely civilian and military.

Did you find the 70 year old tankers? I guess it makes sense to put gramps in a tank rather than an infantry unit.

The narrative that Russia is holding some super secret reserve force of advanced weaponry might be one of the best over the past 18 months (along with the bio labs). And when you take the time to go back and read a Twitter users posts like Armchair Warlord, as I have, they continuously believe it. Basically any day now it will be unleashed as Russia continues to great setback after setback. That account (Armchair Warlord) has been wrong so many times in the past, especially during the Kherson and Kharkiv losses, that it's surprising to see anyone still reference it.

Well that plus the "Ukraine has nothing left" fantasy. All their new stuff is destroyed, all their soldiers massacred, all of their reserves committed as of weeks ago. Yet… they keep advancing incrementally.

What specific reserve brigades do you believe (and based on what) they have at this time? Please do enlighten me. Thx.

Judging by equipment, the only type they've had significant losses of is Bradley's, about a quarter of what we gave them. All the western tanks, Strykers, marders, etc are basically entirely intact.

I don't know which specific units are where. I do know that the repeated claims that Ukraine is out of steam are false because… they haven't stopped.

Poland continues to re-arm/build out their forces (unlike almost all of Europe), which I believe is ultimately a good thing. It seems likely a part of Ukraine will be absorbed by Poland eventually, imho.

Stolen from another thread, but I'd certainly consider this guy the holder of "another perspective"

With that said, I don't believe in guilt by association. I just find the views of this particular extremist interesting. We all agree racism is bad.

Reminds me of the tiki torch marching clowns in kaki's a few years ago chanting about "jews will not replace me." Sure thing, fella's. What a rallying cry of…well anyway.

For a 70 year old to have (what I assume is) a very valuable spot receiving training on the incoming tanks, that has to mean there wasn't anyone else available. Right?

I don't see how you give it to a 71 year old over a 45-50 year old unless corruption is afoot or the young guy wasn't an option. What say you?

It's an interesting question, really.

I suspect the Abrams will be very high priority targets for the Russians, so whether they have a 'lot' of volunteers to drive/man them is a question. Supposedly the Leopards/Challengers were/are also prioritized by the Russians with bounties for kills etc. Ugly stuff, of course…

The Abrams are being stripped of all sensitive technology before being sent over, so basically returning them to the 1980s version of themselves which evidently matches up well with Rooskie technology (according to some).

Yeah there's nothing really 'secret' about the Abrams they are going to obtain, it's more a matter of 'trophy' hunting/seeking footage of them.

There were/are 'official' ones but also unofficial reports of such bounties, and that it caused Ukrainians to be wary of taking the Challengers/Leopards into combat...

Ukraine braces for energy infrastructure attacks: This makes sense as Ukraine is definitely low on air defense missiles/systems and it forces them to disperse assets further away from their 'spring counter offensive' this winter:

Quote:

As a 10-month-long barrage of Ukraine's energy infrastructure by Russian missiles and drones continues, a new Ukrainian military intelligence assessment claims that Russian companies are building strike missiles at a monthly clip of more than 100, and adjusting tactics to overcome defenses.

A transcript of remarks by Maj. Gen. Vadym Skibitskyi, a representative of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, makes it clear that officials in Kyiv are bracing for a prolonged, long-range missile and drone assault from Russia, although in smaller batches due to stockpile shortages.

"Such massive strikes as happened last October, November, December, when they launched 70-100 rockets at a timemost likely, there will be no more," Skibitskyi told the RBK-Ukraine news service. "The Russians realize that they may not achieve their goal, but instead will only exhaust their reserves, as they did last year."

Ukraine's military intelligence arm, also known as the GUR, believes Russia has about 585 ballistic and cruise missiles with warheads still on hand, including about 270 9K720 Iskander missiles, about 140 3M-14 Kaliber cruise missiles and a total of about Kh-101, Kh-555 and Kh-55 cruise missiles. The tally also includes an estimated stockpile of 75 9-S-7760 Khinzal air-launched ballistic missiles, Skibitskyi said.
Meanwhile, the Russians have a plan to produce a maximum of 118 missiles of all types each month. For August, the Russian production plan, which the GUR claims to have obtained, calls for delivering 42 new Iskander missiles, 40 Kh-101s, 20 Kalibrs, a maximum of 10 Kh-32s and more than six Khinzals.

Russian companies are now performing final assembly of Geran-2 one-way attack munitions, which rare Russia's version of the Iranian Shahed 136 drone, Skibitskyi said. Russian components are now found in Geran-2s that land in Ukraine, he added.

As Ukraine braces for a new missile barrage on energy infrastructure leading into winter, military officials in Kyiv are wary of improving Russian tactics.

The Russians are alternating different classes of missiles with each wave attack, he said. More attention is being paid to planning the route for the strikes to avoid defenses. And the Russians are acting on targeting information faster than in the past, he said.

"The enemy is now studying our energy facilities, looking for their vulnerable places and the location of our air defense systems," Skibitskyi said. "The Russians will analyze all this in order to choose the optimal routes for launches."

Not surprised one of those clowns was an actual…azov commander:

But don't worry, when Ukraine runs out of willing/forced male fighters, the machine will be coming for our youth.

Which provides no rationale for why we should send more money to them than we spend on educating our children.

And also why people should have kept Trump in power to keep Putin out of Ukraine instead of supporting establishment guy Biden and his merry brotherhood of war mongering swamp rats who dared Putin to act and act quickly so they could turn the spigots back on for another endless war.

Stomping your feet and yelling Putin is a bad man and did a bad thing is not what this discussion is about.
