Yup, after 8 years. Hell, our shi-zhu is more aggressive.

I don't understand the point of these breeds. I always ask pit owners what made the pit a better fit for their family over say a golden retriever or lab. They never have a good answer.
He's the best ****ing dog in the world. And the nicest. IF he knows you.
I also have a lab.
If someone breaks into my house, my lab is going to want to lick them to death.
My half pit is going to pin them in a corner while they piss their pants. But, he won't bite them. He'll just get about 1 foot from them and bark his scary as **** bark.
Then, I come out and let them make a decision of whether I shoot them or call the cops.
Labs and golden retrievers are great dogs (my dad has one of each). But, they absolutely SUCK for home defense.
If you want a dog for home defense, get a dog that is actually loyal and not a ticking time bomb from an unstable breed.

Every single list for home protection excludes pit bulls because the breed is like giving a psychopath access to weaponry and telling them to do what they want.

Met my future life and she actually slept on her side of the bed which was a little irritating. Up and died on me at our ranch about four years after we got married. Buried her on the bank of Cherokee Creek which runs thru the north end of our ranch. I gave up on dogs for ten years after that and we had a couple of sons.Tom Kazansky 2012 said:

Yes, along with chihuahuas. Not because they're dangerous (however, they are FAR more likely to bite than other breeds) - but because they're useless.

Selective breeding of domestic dogs has generated diverse breeds often optimized for performing specialized tasks. Despite the heritability of breed-typical behavioral traits, identification of causal loci has proven challenging due to the complexity of canine population structure. We overcome longstanding difficulties in identifying genetic drivers of canine behavior by developing a framework for understanding relationships between breeds and the behaviors that define them, utilizing genetic data for over 4,000 domestic, semi-feral, and wild canids and behavioral survey data for over 46,000 dogs. We identify ten major canine genetic lineages and their behavioral correlates and show that breed diversification is predominantly driven by non-coding regulatory variation. We determine that lineage-associated genes converge in neurodevelopmental co-expression networks, identifying a sheepdog-associated enrichment for interrelated axon guidance functions. This work presents a scaffold for canine diversification that positions the domestic dog as an unparalleled system for revealing the genetic origins of behavioral diversity.

There's a reason why we cannot have wolves as pets. Their breeding is such that they can never be fully domesticated. I believe a pit bull is very similar. They were bred to be lethal fighters, not house pets.
To your analogy above, it only works if the gun comes fully loaded, cocked, and pointed at your neighbor, and your 5 year old child is holding it.
