This probably makes more sense than your argument to ban just about every type of gun that exists.

They will never do this, but if they did they wouldn't just stop at semi automatic guns.

They are always testing/probing for weakness. The Canadians will roll over and submit to the new rules just like they did during the trucker strike.

As far as Americans go, everyone wants to believe that we will rise up and defeat the tyrants once they ban the semi-autos BUT let's be honest when push comes to shove, there will be millions upon millions that do exactly what the Canadians are doing.

Now consider the next move of our good friends from south of the border, the Mexican cartels. No longer will old Jose and his friends only be your favorite one-stop shop for all your favorite recreational pharmaceuticals, which sadly they've become due to our unwillingness and our inability adequately to police our own national borders. No sir.

Jose and company will have their eyes on a much bigger prize. They're now in the gun business, and it's big, big money. Maybe he won't offer the super high quality firearms like those you used to buy, but he's got 'manufacturers' lined up all over the world who'll be producing guns and ammo by the container load.

Logistics? No problemo, señor! Jose's boys will pick them up at the port when they go to pick up their container loads of Chinese fentanyl. Transport north of the border? They've got that. Sales network? Sure thing. Money to buy politicians, law enforcement, extortionists and muscle? Plenty, plenty.

TLDR -- The Left is not composed of deep thinkers. Their 'dream' has all the makings of another cluster.

This kind of incrementalism is exactly why the words "shall not be infringed" were adopted. It wasn't just the war of independence against the Brits, but the experience with the crown/church disarming people in Britannia that the (predominantly Protestant) founders had fresh in mind.

Today? No. In the future? Maybe. A bunch of 200 year old muskets wouldn't be that useful now. The citizenry needs the ability to adapt to improvements in weapons design just as the government does.

Gun confiscation is an act of war!

Whatever weapons the government has access to, that could be used against it's citizens, the citizens should have at least equivalent, and probably better. Just like the historical precedent in this country.

Why do police officers have semi-autos? Whatever reasoning is just as applicable for why a citizen needs one!
