I saw that, but thats a tax write off as a charitable donation, hardly the same thing as several hundred grand for a sale plus whatever cash flow. Ouch.

Would you buy the house? I also saw Kaylee's sister had her baby.

Sure the way that was exchanged was worked out without large tax consequences. I do have a problem with the house being demolished now, however. There hasn't even been a formal plea yet much less a trial.

I would think they would wait until after the trail at least. Could it be possible for the jury to want to take a field trip to the crime scene?

Well, the jury never gets to make that request. Usually it is a motion by the defense.

And FTR: when Judge Ito allowed it in the OJ trial, it was reversible error. The second sidenote on that OJ thing was that Johnny Cochran had the house redecorated to make it a Black Pride house with changing out all the artwork with pieces from his collection of black artists. Totally staged scene. And it was not the murder scene. Completely whacked.

But here, with a very large property around 1700 acres, and 1100 feet between the main house and the kennels? Would have some impact. My ranch house is 1600 feet from the highway. That's a long way. We never walk it. We use vehicles, ATVs or UTVs. Mail service will not come up our road we are so far off.

On a slightly more humorous note (if that's allowed in this thread?), the "psychic" TikToker who was sued for accusing the history prof of committing the murders is acting pro se. She missed the response deadline and is facing summary judgment. She filed a motion to prevent summary judgment and also filed a counterclaim, doubling down on the assertion that the prof is the true killer. They are what one might expect from a pro se litigant.

EDB reviewed the filings. It's a fun listen in case someone wanted to take an hour to have a laugh.

Documents released of items seized at Kohbeger house in PA. First item on list "knife", plus lots of black clothing including face masks.

That seems to be, possibly, a HUGE deal! And doesn't seem that anybody is picking up on that. I've seen people all over twitter talking about the "sheathed kitchen knife" and completely ignoring item #1 on the list "knife"

I imagine they confiscated anything in his apartment that could be used to stab another person, even if it didn't appear to be the weapon used in the four murders.

There's a possibility he thought a KaBar sheath would throw them off if a KaBar wasn't used.

I'm sure they can tell by the size of the stab holes. Dumping a kbar sheath if he used a smaller knife doesn't really throw anything off. Plus, wasn't his finger print on the sheath?

I hope they find one of the victims DNA on something in PA. That would make this as airtight as it gets.

"Mancuso says, "Mr. Kohberger was found awake in the kitchen area dresssd in shorts and a shirt a wearing latex medical type gloves and apparently was taking his personal trash and putting it into a separate zip lock baggies."
Mancuso tells us that discovery cleared up another part of the investigation.

you left out that this was at 1:30 am when they found him doing this

I don't understand how that clears up anything. He must've been putting the Ziploc baggies containing his personal trash somewhere other than the family trashcan. However, the article doesn't state that.

It's 1:30am and he's bagging his trash / personal items into ziplock bags.

He's in possession of a "cheek swab?"

What is the significance of that, if anything?

Was he doing ancestry dot com?

So is the thinking that he may of been trying to get rid of evidence on the other side of the country? Makes sense that he drove now and was possibly ditching evidence when they stopped places.

i don't know why you would put it in ziploc bags unless you put bleach or something in the bags. If you want to just dump the trash somewhere off site, having it in sealed waterproof bags seems like a bad choice, since that will actually preserve evidence. If you are going to dump it somewhere like a random dumpster or something, you would want as much cross-contamination as possible. He must have really sucked at his criminal science program.

You would assume that. However if he has been doing this from before the murder until when he was arrested, all of that garbage is most likely in the dump by now or potentially useless due to poked holes, etc.

they supposedly had him under surveillance for weeks, who's to say that they don't have any of his ziplocs from the road trip and are saving it for trial?

I keep going back to the list of items they seized. Item #1 on the list is "knife" with no other description. There is no definitive source commenting on this that has said it is NOT the murder weapon, and given the gag orders, they are unlikely to. I have raised this issue in several forums and discussions, and a few have said "they said they don't have the murder weapon" but I cannot find an actual source for that. So it is possible that item 1 IS the murder weapon.

If it is, then this guy truly is an idiot. My hunch all along has been that the time his phone was off and when he took the circuitous route south after the murders that he dumped the knife and changed his clothes. He might have even pre-planned a place on that route to shower or clean up. So while I'm not expecting to find out that item 1 on the list is the weapon, I have been surprised a couple times at just how dumb this dude has been.

That was my thought as well, that he ditched all the evidence on that Sunday afternoon in the National Forest when his phone went dark.

If they hard the murder weapon, we would have heard by now gag order or not.

I think more than likely it is not the weapon, but I do think that the judge re-iterated the gag order just a few days before this, so the leakers may have gotten scared. It would not be in either the defense or the prosecution's interest to leak something that sensational if it was. It sure would make for a bombshell trial exhibit.
