Heating oil is in a tank usually underground and then goes straight to the furnace not circulating thru the house.
That's correct, but I've seen some variations on that. I stayed in log cabin in Southwest Montana a while and they had a wall mounted oil heater with the tank outside and the lines running through the wall..Emotional Support Cobra said:

My thoughts exactly about the others not waking up if they thought only 1 was unconscious. Did they maybe think the others were already up and left the house?
And the surveillance videos, should look for earlier. Possibly the perp got in the house and hid.
Also wondered why the couple only stayed at the frat party for an hour. What did they do between 9 pm and 1:00 am?

Agree that DNA was not a factor in catching BTK. Believe, however, that the Golden State Killer was captured through DNA family tracing.
Did you have the hot water baseboard type of heat? When we lived in Connecticut, both of our houses had that type of heat. Coming from central air and heat systems in Houston, the noises it made took a little getting used to.ToddyHill said:
That is not always the case. I grew up in Connecticut where home heating oil was the norm, but basements were as well. In our case, as with my relatives, the home heating oil tank (500 gallon capacity), was in the basement.

Towel warmers were standard appliances in England. Really, really needs to catch on in the US.Emotional Support Cobra said:
Best was putting your bath towel on the hot radiator while you showered!!!

My Mom said the house was "singing" at night.
I agree with you. As I recall, the oil company would perform annual inspections and I don't ever remember when we had a leak.Quote:
Yes, I get it, but can't envision a scenario where it would ooze through a foundation.
Having seen the pictures, that's blood, not oil. But I am also looking at that neighborhood and some of the interior pictures, stills taken from videos. Crappy construction, cheapest builder grade s*** possible designed for student housing being that close to campus.ToddyHill said:I agree with you. I love that movie.
Dont quote me but I believe there was previously another room mate but she had already moved out.Bluecat_Aggie94 said:
Forgive me if this is covered in this thread...I've been following this case closely in the news but just came across this thread here. I'll review it when I have time, but I have a question if anyone knows anything about this.
Has anything been said about an empty bedroom?
This is just my speculation, but I know it was a six bedroom place, with 2 bedrooms on each floor. The two on the bottom were the survivors. It is possible that the male was in his own room (old fashioned me would love to hear that) but knowing college students like I do leads me to believe he in the room with his girlfriend (and I'm sure those are the two that had defensive wounds, make sense.) The other two female were likely in rooms alone, but that leaves one bedroom unaccounted for.
Seems unlikely that a bedroom was unoccupied, every college student I know wants to maximize occupancy to minimize rent.
I don't know that this fact is important to cracking the case, but I do think it's curious that there is a good chance that there was another roommate who was not home, and that's not widely discussed.

There's been two other late night stabbing murders in the region since 2020. Both unsolved.
I don't understand how they can rule those and this out as far as being related.
Also made clear that the red suspected substance visble on the outsde foundation could only come from a bedroom and not a mechanical closet with a oil tank in it.MsDoubleD81 said:

You don't know that to be true. I suspect they have a great deal. They may or may not have a suspect. Whether or not they tell you and me about a suspect is determined by what that will do to the case. If releasing information helps, they will release it. If releasing it compromises the case, they will not, no matter the public pressure or ridicule.Valtrex_11 said:
They got nothing after 2 weeks if they had a person, they would release the info to the public to help find him or her...
Just sad situation all round.
Did you watch the video? The lower (basement) floor room mates were not under any of the bedrooms.aggiehawg said:Also made clear that the red suspected substance visble on the outsde foundation could only come from a bedroom and not a mechanical closet with a oil tank in it.MsDoubleD81 said:

Were I to gues, I'd say that house on the lower floors was cold as hell. Meaning people sleeping would have plenty of blankets and other noise muffling materials. Personally, I almost always sleep with ear plugs since I'm a light sleeper.
Maybe the lower floor roommates used something regularly that cut down on the noise since it was a party house?
Incorrect. There was a bedroom directly beneath the bedroom that was presumably Xana's on the second floor.Quote:
