And this can include either those you expected to be good and weren't or others you hadn't planned to vote for but regretted shortly after the election?

I'll go first. Obama 2008.

Only major Democratic candidate I have ever voted for my life. I must've been out of my damn mind.

But I didn't like McCain.
Wait what? That reasoning means you didn't like McCain because he wasn't a big enough socialist. And I didn't think you rolled that way.

Reagan in 80 & 84 (in school mock vote)
HW Bush in 88
Perot in 92
Dole in 96
George W in 00 and 04
McCain in 08
Romney in 12
Trump in 16 and 20

I hate McCain and Romney but given the alternatives I wouldn't change any of my votes except possibly Perot since splitting HW's vote meant giving votes to Clinton. I was young and stupid.

Quite honestly, I usually don't vote for someone. I find myself voting against someone.

Bush lite (twice)

Still voting straight R. I vote for the party, not the person.

Trump twice, and I'll do it again if I have to, but I'd rather not.

All of them except DJT. I'm fond of his business acumen, his leadership in putting us first, and his bill in a china shop approach. It will be a long time before someone wrinkles government culture the way he has.

Jimmy Carter back when the South voted Democratic and the Democratic Party was different.

W for Texas governor.

Worst candidate ever voted for would be McCain/Romney tie. Worst who actually won would be George Bush Sr.

To clarify, I have never voted D, so I am limited to R candidates on this thread. In each case, the three votes above were still better choices than their D opponents.

Had a stupid attack and voted for Jimmy Carter in '76. Total regret and have not voted for another Democrat of any stripe since. The Republicans don't always make me happy but the Democrats never fail to piss me off. Voting for Libertarians is a waste of a vote - they would rather be the skunk at the picnic and get 3% of the vote than win an election and have to actually serve in office.

I also voted for Harry Browne (Libertarian) in 1996. He was an ideological purist, which is completely impractical in reality, but not like there was any possibility of him winning so it didn't really matter.

Paul Tsongas in the 1992 presidential democratic primary. It was a vote against Clinton.

I voted for David Dewhurst over Ted Cruz in the 2012 Senate primary. Was young and thought Cruz was toxic at the time but in reality I didn't know much about him.

Voted for McCain and Romney more as a vote against Obama than anything else. I can proudly say I have never voted for a Democrat in my life

What do you have against Tsongas? (Or is just because he was a Democrat?)

Tsongas was the last genuinely fiscally responsible politician on the national stage as regards a balanced budget.

Exactly. The fact that this thread is 3 pages long and Eric has not showed up to argue for an additional three pages that Perot took more votes away from Clinton than Bush is concerning. Hope he OK.

Obama. First year of eligibility to vote (19) and I was a moron college student. Why I believe voting age should be 21 at a minimum
I'd be happy raising voting age to 25 or higher. There is literally zero argument against saying that people should have some life experience under their belt before voting on how they think things should be.

"Bu-bu-but they pay taxes and should be able to vote!" So do 12 year olds mowing lawns (sales taxes) and 16 year olds working in fast food (income, FICA, sales, gas taxes) but we don't let them vote.

The only reason we'll never be able to raise the age to vote is because democrats would never win another election if it weren't for immature ideals of the young.

You can't ask for people to serve their country at 18 and not have a right to vote though, that's the real problem.
Sure you can. Military service is voluntary. The human brain isn't even fully developed at 21. I'm in favor of giving the right to vote to only landowners over 25.
Let's go, Brandon!

Didn't vote for
Romney or McCain just as bad as Obama.

Trump was my least favorite at the time I pulled the lever but a million times better than Hill Dog or the Moron.
Trump beat my expectations but still always made things about himself. I want actions made in the best interest of this once great country.

Cant wait to vote for DeSantis. I haven't had this much optimism for a candidate since Reagan.
