I heard on a segment on TV where the host was talking about DeSantis sending the immigrants to MV, but what really stood out was when she said that he was a Presidential hopeful.

We all know he's been working his way through all that he's done to make himself the best candidate for the next election, but I don't remember him saying he's running. Did I miss something or is it just so obvious to everyone now that he's going to run that they're going to just speak of him this way going forward?
Why would a Florida Governor pay for a private plane to take undocumented immigrants from Texas to Massachusetts (and claim credit for it) if it wasn't to get his name in the national media?

The entire stunt had nothing to do with Florida.
'member when New York said they were a sanctuary city? Pepperidge farm 'members.

'member when DC said they were a sanctuary city? Pepperidge farm 'members.

'member when both DC and New York mayors said their city services were overwhelmed from something like 4000 illegals? Guessing Watermelon Man don't 'member
Sounds like you are trying for a 'member-only society.

Last time I checked, there was a statue in the New York Harbor, called Liberty or something. It has inscribed on it:

Quote:

GIVE ME YOUR TIRED YOUR POOR
YOUR HUDDLED MASSES YEARNING TO BREATHE FREE
THE WRETCHED REFUSE OF YOUR TEEMING SHORES
SEND THESE, THE HOMELESS, TEMPEST, TOSSED TO ME
I LIFT MY LAMP BESIDE THE GOLDEN DOOR

I'm guessing you might 'member that, but maybe you are wishing you didn't. That statue, those words, and the response from NYC doesn't sound to me like a city that is objecting to people "Yearning to breathe free." The truth is, they are welcoming them.

NYC has a homeless population of over 90,000. You think a few thousand more is going to "overwhelm" them? Not likely. And, the people Abbott is sending aren't your typical homeless. They want to work for a good life. NYC was built by immigrants.

The right wing nutjobs want to make it sound as if New Yorkers are objecting to them. They aren't. They are objecting to not being notified that Abbott is sending them and just dumping them at the bus station, where there isn't anybody to help them.

Hmmm. Is Mexico notifying Texas as to when the illegals are going to show up, or do they just show up? You have obviously missed the entire point of sending the migrants to these liberal cities. These "sanctuary cities" can't handle the exact situation that they vote to create in border states. And at an infinitesimal fraction of the scale.

And invoking the Statue of Liberty is the same, tired **** that libs repeat without actually having a point. The immigration system has always been restricted by laws. Not every human being on the face of the earth can just walk across the border and stay. Anyone with a brain understands this.
You just might have a point if the people used in DeSantis' stunt weren't lied to about where they were going and the availability of jobs, yeah, those people, were illegals. They weren't. They were asylum seekers with a very limited ability to speak English and an even less understanding of how they were being used. Of course, the ironic fact is that they are much more likely to be granted asylum (and permanent immigration status) in Massachusetts than they would have been in San Antonio. So, even though DeSantis' stunt was born out of hatred and bigotry, in all likelihood it gave them more help than they ever would have obtained in Texas.

The immigration system is controlled by laws. You say restricted, as if its purpose is to restrict or prevent people from emigrating, which is not true. Its purpose is to control, not to prevent. And, the system we have does not work. It needs to be changed so that it can work, but that would require lawmakers to actually make laws instead of trying their best to create chaos.

As for the Statue of Liberty, it is a symbol, one that represents our nation's willingness to take those who have no hope and give them hope. A symbol of compassion. Something that is apparently missing from the current Republican party. That is the point. If only there was a philosophy, a religion if you will, that held as a core belief that the way to enlightenment, to true happiness, was to be kind to your neighbor, even to the point of turning the other cheek if you neighbor should act out against you. I know, I know, I am dreaming.

Don't even bother, the guy is obviously some sort of paid troll or operative. 100% of posts on politics board since showing up to troll last year. Does not deviate from talking points. Detests Christianity but then tries to pretend like Republicans are unchristian for forcing leftist cities to live up to their "sanctuary" claims, which of course they don't.

OK, I apologize. I had read in news reports that the people delivered to Martha's Vineyard were told that plenty of jobs would be available. If those reports were inaccurate, all I can say is that I need to verify my sources better.

I have revised my post:

You just might have a point if the people used in DeSantis' stunt, yeah, those people, were illegals. They aren't. They are asylum seekers with a very limited ability to speak English and an even less understanding of how they were being used. Of course, the ironic fact is that they are much more likely to be granted asylum (and permanent immigration status) in Massachusetts than they would have been in San Antonio. So, even though DeSantis' stunt was born out of cruelty, hatred and bigotry, in all likelihood it gave them more help than they ever would have obtained in Texas.

You're like all other lib/dems. Go ahead and lie and let somebody else worry about the truth down the road. And it's not a stunt by Desantis and Abbott as they're only helping tourists seek new destinations. There is no illegal or border problems. Your guys in DC told us so.

The media wants a Trump vs. DeSantis showdown. It's their best bet to get the GOP to start fighting and split. DeSantis won't announce until Trump decides on what he's going to do. So the media is pushing the issue. Calling him "Presidential hopeful" is their best bet to get Trump to start calling him names.

Let me be clear so you don't feel the need to try and score points with this little nugget anymore.

I have no compassion for illegal immigrants who break our laws, commit crime, drain our resources, burden our schools, overwhelm our hospitals, and raise our costs for auto and health insurance.

Zero. None. Nada.

They should be rounded up, deported, and declared ineligible for future immigration. Wait your turn, get in line, follow the process.

Now. Go clutch your pearls.
Well, fortunate for these human beings that they aren't illegal immigrants, aren't committing crime, etc...

It's perfectly OK for you show these people compassion.

That bull**** Reddit talking point that these are refugees and not illegal immigrants doesn't work here.

They need to "human being" back in the own country.

Your compassion for others is truly amazing. A real joy, I imagine.

But, there is no bull. No talking points. Only the truth. (I know, many here hate the truth as the truth has a liberal bent). Per our laws, these are not refugees or illegal immigrants, but asylees, who have as much right to be in this country, albeit on a temporary basis, as you or I have. They have asked for asylum and temporary asylum has been granted pending court proceedings. Until those proceedings, they have many of the same rights as you or I.

That is what the law says. Now, if you don't want to follow the rule of law...

Another salient point is many of these asylees are fleeing communism in Venezuela. Given DeSantis' rhetoric, you would think he, as well as Republicans in general, would support asylum seekers fleeing communism. But, not these, it would seem.

So these poor asylum seekers of yours they just needed to flee persecution. Lets list all the countries that they by passed on their way here because the Dems are giving out free stuff for futures votes.

Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Belize, El Salvador, and finally Mexico. So why didn't they stop in any of those places. Oh yeah, the free stuff.

I wouldn't care if these illegal criminals were lily white Protestants from Norway. The don't belong here. Borders mean something. The invaders need to be stopped.

Wait...I can get paid for disagreeing with you guys?

I don't believe DeSantis is serious about it nor do I believe he truly believes it is happening. If he did, he would be all in. HIs state will be the first to disappear due to rising sea levels.
