With the exception of active military, everyone should vote in person at polling place, on day of election. It's either that important or it ain't. Can't have it both ways.
If you are going to be out of town on election day, you should forfeit your right to vote?

How important is voting to you?
You become an exception, it was not in the cards. Same if you had to go to the hospital for heart failure on the way to the polling booth.

What if an already registered voter just wants to request a mail in ballot but fills out the voter registration form too? Are they on the rolls twice? Or is one registration canceled? Or the second one rejected?

On one hand we hear folks squealing about it being "our most important right," then turning around and *****ing if it's less convenient than a stop at Starbucks for their soy latte....

Which is it?

Right now, we have a number of people in the county on a construction project. Very few of them are from around here and after the project finishes, they'll go elsewhere to the next project. Should the construction project be required to shut down for a week or more so that all of their employees can return home to vote?

Of course, they are going to need to travel, too. Should the airlines be required to fly all their flight crews home and shut down for election days so they can vote?

How about long haul truckers?

Train workers?

Should we bring orbiting astronauts home to vote?

Families of soldiers away on deployment?

Just how much do you want to shut the country down?

It would mean that just about everyone away from home for work reasons would be disenfranchised. Or who have a long commute.
This has always been an option via Absentee Ballots, which had more stringent requirements and more strict controls. The "Mail in Ballots" of the last two years are NOT the same thing.

It's obvious in the new form's design that the intent is to get more people to inadvertently request Mail in Ballots so as to increase the number in circulation. More physical ballots available to manufacture votes. More votes needing to be manually adjudicated. This isn't about putting a "band-aid" on an already existing wound; this is about blocking the knife attack in progress.

We knew they'd cheat and they are.

They're just not hiding it anymore, not that they did a good job hiding it in 2020.

They got away with it then, they most likely will from this point out.
Is it really cheating to change a form?

Or just a bit confusing?
Is it OK to confuse voters on purpose? Because you can play all manner of games there.

If this had not been done under the cover of darkness with a last minute drop in the lap, maybe he gets the benefit of the doubt.

Dropping something new on everyone 3 weeks before deadline, when you had 20 months to address it? Surely you are not going to defend that as innocent looking behavior, right?

Why should anyone be allowed to vote by mail for any reason? Can you give me sound reasoning why this needs to happen other than it makes it easier to cheat?
1) Deployed military
2) Overseas trip
3) Invalid

That;s it.

Who knows? It's a lot of smoke and mirrors and confusion.

She. Hand selected by Dem Guv Wolfe. She loves her universal mail in ballots.

If voting is that important to you, don't plan a vacation on Election Day.
Agree. The exceptions are not so numerous that you should run a nation around them. If its important to you, you will make it happen. And if for some reason you were incapacitated that day, it just wasn't in the cards. Election integrity overall is arguably far more important than every single one having the most convenient voting option possible.
It would mean that just about everyone away from home for work reasons would be disenfranchised. Or who have a long commute.
You really go out of your way to twist yourself into some sort of made up narrative, don't you?

What is a "long commute"? I drive at least an hour each way to work...is that a long commute, medium commute, etc?
I'd call that a long commute. There have been people here who drove two hours each way. One man I can think of could easily have afforded a very nice house in the city, but he preferred to raise his kids here instead of in the city.

When I was at A&M, I knew someone who commuted to Houston (inside loop 610) and back most days for work.

As far as twisting? Not hardly. The days when most everyone worked near their homes are gone. Mail in and early voting are becoming more and more necessary. We need to improve the election security instead of just applying useless bandaids to the problem that don't fix anything.

At a minimum you should NOT have the option to have your mail in ballots sent anywhere. It should be sent to the address on your voter registration. The ONLY reason that is there is so cheaters that have the voters roles and voting history can pull names of likely idle "voters" from the rolls and have a ballot mailed to the cheaters to submit. It's how people in GA, PA, AZ etc showed up on Election Day to find that someone voted for them by mail and how some voters ended up voting in two different states.

That form also makes it extremely easy to manufacture voters since you can register AND request a mail in ballot on the same form.

In other words, voting is only important if you aren't inconvenienced...

Dense much? There's a big difference between absentee ballots and mass mail out and in ballots. One has provided for your hyper theoretical examples for years with added protections, and the other is simply mass canvassing ripe for fraud. You know this but you're going to do you.

Just Military, or people that are working/ living outside the country, or people that are ill and have trouble leaving their home should be able to vote by mail. Im sure their might be a few other exemptions that could qualify, but the majority of people should have to vote in person with a voter ID.

Better yet, come up with a secure way for people to vote online..
