Deranged? I guess it's difficult for people to accept that someone can still be very conservative and have voted for trump, but soured on him after Jan 6. I'm still with you guys on pretty much every single issue. But not this one.

FBI searched Trump's home to look for nuclear documents and other items, sources say

Classified documents relating to nuclear weapons were among the items FBI agents sought in a search of former president Donald Trump's Florida residence on Monday, according to people familiar with the investigation.Experts in classified information said the unusual search underscores deep concern among government officials about the types of information they thought could be located at Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club and potentially in danger of falling into the wrong hands. The people who described some of the material that agents were seeking spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation. They did not offer additional details about what type of information the agents were seeking, including whether it involved weapons belonging to the United States or some other nation. Nor did they say if such documents were recovered as part of the search. A Trump spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Justice Department and FBI declined to comment.

Very interesting if true. Warrants explanation.

if it was, they could have just asked for them back.

they knew back in June he had these docs because they reviewed them in person.. they even asked at that time for him to put up additional door security.

they knew the inventory of the docs back in January 2020.

They are just trying to use ANYTHING now to save face.

Not that you care, but it has been reported that they did ask and they didn't get everything they asked for.

This.

As was pointed out, they picked something they could "credibly" say that no one can ever see the affidavit evidence or documents themselves because "muh national security" and we just have to take their word for it

How is "they were looking for nuclear documents" a talking point?

Call it fake news if you want, but if this is true, it's devastating. And naturally invites follow up questions. What kind of nuclear documents? Why did he have them? Why didn't he return them in June? If they were in the safe, why? What plans did he have for them?

The nuclear docs were either planted or were a ruse to confiscate other files damaging to the political establishment.

I cannot imagine any scenario in which Trump would have interest in nuclear info.

As great of a president as he was, he is a petty man who is hell bent on revenge moreso than trafficking in nuclear secrets.

Re: "Classified documents relating to nuclear weapons"

1. What possible documents could he have? Trump has never gotten into the weeds of anything in his life. Not in his business, not as the President. He doesn't know the difference between uranium and Uranus.

2. Launch codes? What good would those do him now? Even assuming they haven't been changed (which they have), how in the world could he get access? What possible motivation would he have for having them in his possession?

3. Our weapons strength and other secrets relating to weapons? Again, what is the benefit to Trump here?

None of this makes any sense. Either this is a setup -- i.e. a plant at the time of the raid or there were documents included in what he originally took which were fine when he took them, but that they engineered a way to classify after the fact -- OR, this is all a lie.

Turn honesty to on: do you really believe that if these documents were vital to national security that they would have waited 2 years until right before the midterm to make this big a deal of it?

No worries. Biden forgot the codes a minute after they were given to him. A minute later he forgot where he put the piece of paper that he wrote them on.

You clutch those pearls any harder and they'll shatter.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Malibu2, how long do you think it takes to remove a dozen FRC boxes from a location?

Why did it take two dozen FBI agents several hours to do a job it would take an archivist about 15 minutes to get done?

It was never about the Presidential Records Act or nuclear-related data. That was a cover for the real search performed by these fascists. This was a desperate attempt to abuse the law in an attempt to get Trump by any means necessary, including an exhaustive search of Melania's closet.

This leak is so obvious.

First, wait and see the reaction. Start working on talking points and an explanation for your fishing expedition.

Second, remain silent. Listen to speculation on what could be an acceptable reason to raid.

Third, discover the sentiment that "Unless there are nuclear codes or documents in there, it isn't warranted". OK. Found the needed angle.

Forth, FBI leaks to WaPo "we were looking for nuclear documents".

They are working this hard, looking for the right play.
