Overall risk is VERY low under 65.

So, is the ignorance on display in this thread real, or just ornery folks being deliberately obtuse?
No evidence of effectiveness? Each vaccine was tested on tens of thousands of participants prior to approval and shown to be effective in at least ameliorating severe COVID effects in the vast majority of infections.
Did ANYONE ever say any of the vaccines was 100% effective in preventing infection? No. The two major vaccines were reported to have effectiveness for up to 93% of those taking it. Meaning it would have no effect for around 7% of those taking it. As to those who did benefit from it, the benefit was expected to range from not getting infected to reducing the severity of symptoms. Hospital records bear this out, as the vast majority of severe complications and deaths have been among those not vaccinated. And of course, we all know COVID has ever been a perverse bug that hit some people hard and others little, if at all.
Current vaccine status? The vaccines were formulated to combat the original COVID bug. There have been a bunch of mutations since the vaccines came out. Surely posters here are intelligent enough to realize that the original effectiveness would be lessened as the target bug has shifted. Think zeroing in a scope for a target at 300 yards, then the target moves to a position uphill into a windy area 500 yards away.
The vaccines have always been meant to provide some level of protection to those most vulnerable. Except for a few, extremely rare exceptions (ever see any TV ads for new wonder drugs that warn of potential side effects up to and including death?) the vaccines help many and hurt almost none. The incidence of problems from the vaccines are far lower than a great many popular medicines.
Should everyone be vaccinated? Not if you don't want to be. Other than the first year it came out I've never taken the flu vaccine. The possibility of getting the flu doesn't bother me. Same for any of you with the COVID vaccines, but don't dismiss a medication that HAS benefitted a great many people.

The doc stated she won't sign any school physical forms on kids who have had the Covid vaccine without them first getting an ekg.

Took my kids to the pediatrician yesterday and had to get their school forms filled out. The doc stated she won't sign any school physical forms on kids who have had the Covid vaccine without them first getting an ekg. Too much liability. Also, if you look at Schmitt-Thomson pediatric telephone triage protocols, under the chest pain protocol, if the kid has had a recent Covid vaccine, that is an automatic ED referral.

I don't have kids, so students have to get a physical in order to attend school?
And if they are vaxxed they have to get an EKG? Or is this just if they're in sports?
That is absolutely bonkers. How many doctors are requiring this?!01agtx said:AlaskanAg99 said:

I can't speak for all kids but at my kid's school, everyone has to have a physical, so not just for sports. Our pediatrician said she would not sign off on any physical for kids who had the Covid vax, unless they had an EKG first. She said she has seen too many kids with heart issues to feel comfortable signing off.
That's kind of alarming....and infuriating.01agtx said:AlaskanAg99 said:

I'm non-vax, so I'm not surprised, but there has to be some sort of documented set of caseloads to justify this.
I've had 3 EKG's in my life, 2 were before major back surgery. I can't imagine every damn kid needing one and it not being headline news.
