What response is necessary? It was never claimed that Teslas were 100% built in the US. They are just the most American car you can buy. For some people, that means something.
What is your evidence for that? That's quite a bold claim...

...though you are used to false, bold claims.

If only there were a link in the OP...

So basically "I got nothing" is what you are saying. Electric cars are the dumbest of the "green" ideas out there. They are propped up because the globalists have deemed them the future and will push them through and cram them down the public's throats no matter what that means to the quality of life to the slaves that mine the material or the lessened quality of freedom of movement to more developed countries. But "YAY GREEN!!!" NPCs can all virtue signal with their shiny new Commie cars.
God loves you so much He'll meet you where you are. He also loves you too much to allow to stay where you are.

Gangfeng thanks you for using thier Lithium in your American car. Thanks Comrade!!

And, you are ALMOST correct Tesla's are not 100% built in the US....Actually about 50% are built in China......Go CCCP!!!

Musk has secured rights to mine lithium in Nevada. Hopefully he can further dilute chinese influence as he's already done for the vehicles overall.

A quick glance at our local Chevy dealer shows 105 new vehicles on the lot. That's one dealer.

Tesla has zero vehicles available for immediate delivery. Zero.

China owns the Lithim market, and a mine in Nevada won't make a dent....

Also, you are still dodging the energy source issue....

If you drive your Tesla cause you think it's cool, glad you enjoy it.

If you drive it because you think you are saving the planet, you are an idiot.....

These are fair questions to ask.

I'm not part of the super anti-EV crowd like a lot here since they automatically associate it with "leftism" so please entertain these questions. There were my first thought as well.

I do take issue with the culture around EVs and the massive direct subsidies and the lack of acknowledgement around changing the grid to support these with coal/gas as the electricity provider.

I don't care one bit about "saving the planet". I do care about buying American, and I'm glad to have bought the most American car there is. It's not perfect unfortunately, but it's the best you or I can do in that regard.

Elon has made EVs much more accessible, and in a faster time, than had he not made Tesla what it is. Will EVs replace every vehicle on the planet in the next few years? No, but that's not how things work. He got the ball rolling, other car companies are doing the same, and little by little it'll become more common to see EVs on the road, and charging stations to keep them moving.

Where will the ore be processed?

Last I checked, all REM ore mined in USA is sent to China.

By the way, Australia produces most of the world's supply of lithium, follow by Chile. Australia and Chile produce almost 6 times as much lithium as China.

China is one if the leading producers and refiners of Lithium, is the largest EV market in the world, and is Tesla's top Lithium provider....

You realize under the green new deal no one eats cattle. Non-gmo vegan miracle meats will rain as manna from the Department of Socially Justified Food Equality. Enough nonsense about people raising their own cattle and selling it on the open market. That's so facist.

Making the claim that teslas are the most US centric car is hand waving away the reality of the resources needed to make it based on my understanding and shared here. As long as China owns that part of the supply chain, Biden and the Dems forcing us onto EVs is national suicide and equivalent to Germany tying its energy needs entirely on Russia.

It took a war to acknowledge Germanys idiocy. Will it take that for us to realize our own moronic policy push with EVs?

And I'm a fan of Musk with his recent poking of the leftist bear. I just hope he's uncoupling from China at a sufficient clip, if that's even possible.

Those are not actually "available." Pick some, maybe five, and as if you can buy them. I bet all 5 they will say they are custom orders and already sold. I will let those in the industry confirm though.

Two months back, a friend totaled her suv. She said she thinks we like our telluride a d if she should buy one. I said you cannot just walk in to the lot and buy one. I looked on our local dealer (Houston burbs) and they said they had 25 2022's "available." I called and got patched onto a sales guy that was surprisingly strait up with me. I said "I see you have 25 tellurides available for purchase… I know some of those are custom order, how many are actually for sale?" His response was "zero." I also asked what the lead time would be is she were to order one with then. He said they are not accepting orders at all, the backlog is too huge, maybe in 1-1.5 years."

IMO, electric vehicles probably have unlimited range in the long run, because its possible to power and charge things wirelessly. Its probably possible to electrify a whole interstate as soon as theres a way to monetize that energy use from the specific user.

Not if you do road trips in excess of 250 miles or drive on rolling terrain. Hybrids are the immediate future IMHO.

250 miles? That's easily doable in a Tesla lol. 500 miles is no sweat. It's not 2012 anymore.

Yeah but this

The potential Chinese influence over Tesla is hard to dispute, however.
The company's Shanghai factory accounted for nearly half of Tesla's 2021 manufacturing, and China is one of the biggest markets for the vehicles.

China is even more crucial on the supply side. In an impact report released in May, Tesla disclosed the direct sources for its batteries, most of which were in China. All of those listed supplied cobalt, lithium or nickel, among the most sought-after commodities in the industry.Jun 2, 2022

Tesla signed a 3 year deal with a chinese company for lithium. However, Tesla also sources batteries from Panasonic who gets their batteries from multiple sources.
